It came out juicy, tender and flavorful, even more so when I added the extra jerk sauce that came on the side. Chef Cani told me that he used the back leg of the pork. Too bad Jerk On The Water does not sell any alcohol. I would have paired the pork with an ice cold bottle of Red Stripe Beer. This is a take out place with some outdoor seating overlooking the water. My mom and dad raved about their shrimp rasta pasta & jerk wings, so I had to give it a try. Though the food wasn't bad with a tasty pasta & wings, the wait time was too long for me...I called ahead of time and still had to wait 30 minutes or so to get my food. I felt like I was in a restaurant with the time it took . Still despite that issue, I enjoyed my pasta. The wings were cool too, but really large for my liking (I knoooow, it sounds crazy right, like who complains about more chicken on the bone? Lol ‍.)

We were planning a surprise party and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything went off without a hitch; the coordination and attention to detail were incredible. The food was outstanding across the board, with real Caribbean flavor, clearly made with care. The rooftop ambiance set the perfect tone for the night: great vibes, beautiful setting, exactly what you want for a special occasion. But honestly, the service is what took this from great to unforgettable. The ladies working that night were amazing; warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our celebration special. You could tell they actually cared about giving us a great experience, not just going through the motions. If you're in NYC and looking for a spot to celebrate something special (or just want a great night out), Caribbean Soul Rooftop on Merrick Blvd needs to be on your list. Time for an updated review because credit is definitely due…read more For nearly the past year, The Door has been in our family's Friday night dinner rotation. Every Friday, my four of us pick a different takeout spot, and without fail, someone always says, "Can we just get The Door?" We've had the curry goat, Rasta pasta, jerk chicken, fried chicken, oxtail, Esco chicken, soups, and the chicken patttttttties... mi God. Mi never taste a food wicked suh yet! Everything is consistently flavorful, fresh, and cooked with love. It's honestly become one of our go to spots because we know exactly what we're getting every single time. In my previous review, I mentioned a less than stellar experience. Looking back, maybe they were just having an off day or maybe I got the pot bottom. Whatever the reason, they've been nothing short of amazing ever since. Whether they changed chefs or tightened things up, whatever you're doing... DON'T CHANGE NADA! And I have to give an honorary shout out to Desrene, one of the wonderful team members who takes the takeout orders. She is ALWAYS pleasant, professional, and genuinely kind. It honestly brightens my day whenever I hear her voice on the other end of the phone. Consistency is everything in the restaurant business, and The Door has absolutely earned this updated 5-star review. Keep doing what you're doing!

Some of my favorites are the doubles, bake & shark, chicken roti and most of their curry selections. Everything with medium pepper of course! Food is always delicious and filling. The boneless curry chicken with channa was packed with flavor and plenty of delicious curry sauce, paired with a generously sized, soft, fluffy paratha roti. The doubles was messy (as a good doubles should be! The messier, the better!), but the bara had that nice texture I love. The pepper and tamarind sauces were a nice touch, too! The Caribbean chicken soup was hearty and flavorful, although I would've loved a few more dumplings. The dhal was delicious, nice and chunky with that wonderful roasted geera and garlic flavor. It paired beautifully with rice later on. I purchased a side of pepper sauce i've got a nice size small container to last me for a while! Rounded out the order with some kurma for a sweet treat. Overall, a satisfying taste of Trinidad with plenty of authentic Caribbean flavor. Definitely worth ordering again!

They were dry rub ( they do not have ranch) the Bleu cheese was good. But as pinky said we did not need any dressing she was right. The food came out hot which is ALWAYS a plus. We had 2 rounds of rum punch. I've had better rum punches but they did what they had to do. Now on to our entrees 1) Yuca Fries with Garlic butter 2) Grilled Broccoli 3 Lollipop Lamb Chops with fried Rice 4) The Heat House Special 5) Shrimp Chow Mein 6) Garlic Shrimp with Smashed Potatoes Literally from 1-6 the dishes were all amazing. **A MUST VISIT RESTAURANT IN LITTLE GUYANA** **DELICIOUS…read moreFOOD & BAKERY ITEMS** A SPECIAL PART OF QUEENS Spanning about thirty blocks around Liberty Ave in Richmond Hill, is a very interesting neighborhood known as Little Guyana. An area where one of the largest populations of Guyanese immigrants reside in New York, along with others hailing from Trinidad, Jamaica, India, and Asia. As such, it's a bustling Indo-Caribbean mixing pot neighborhood, with - in some areas - a times square vibe. And most importantly, home to multiple restaurants, Carribean bakeries, clothing shops, grocery stores, and even Guyanese style Chinese food restaurants (Yes, that really is a thing!) EXPERIENCE LITTLE GUYANA AT SYBIL'S A fantastic way to start off your exploration of Little Guyana is to visit Sybil's Bakery. Here, Sybil, an expat from Guyana, along with her relatives and children, have been serving Guyanese specialties to the Richmond Hill community for almost 50 years. Offering steam tables filled with fantastic food, Bakery items, and authentic drinks. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT Ask someone from Guyana, and they'll tell you that Sybil's is a top spot to visit in the neighborhood. Because of this, the restaurant can sometimes become very crowded, with a line spilling out the door, and down the sidewalk. So it's best not to visit during peak times if possible. And as it's a small restaurant with no tables, you must enter, grab a ticket from the dispenser, and then wait for your number to be called. And while waiting, it's a great time to check the various offerings in the steam table area, take a peak at all the bakery items and patties, and peruse the large menu above the counter. And to be honest, because of the large number of choices here, you really need to do this, so you'll have somewhat of an idea what to order when you're called. YOU HAVE TO TRY... Just about everything is delicious here, so all the standard Caribbean dishes, such as Jerk Chicken, Stewed Chicken, Fried Chicken, Oxtail, Curries and sides are all great choices. And then another wonderful item to try here, is Guyanese Pepper Pot, a traditional meat stew with a dark spiced gravy. And don't forget to order a tasty Roti to eat along with any saucy dishes you order. In addition, the fantastic Guyana Style Chinese items, such as the Chow Mein (fried noodles) and Fried Rice - which are my favorite- are seasoned exceptionally well with Caribbean spices, making these dishes hit differently, in comparison to other restaurants. Of course there are regular Jamaican style Beef Patties and Chicken Patties being served here, which are very tasty. But the Guyana style Patties, which are round, and packed full with either beef or chicken, & veg are scrumptious and unique. With these, the crust is more similar to that of a chicken pot pie, and the generous filling is fantastic. Meanwhile, because these are so friggin good, you will see people order them here by the dozen, to take home. So don't pass these up. Another popular choice, especially during lunch, are Sybil's famous Fish Sandwiches and Jerk Chicken Sandwiches. These start out with either fried fish or jerk chicken, along with lettuce, tomato, tartar sauce, another slightly sweet special sauce, and then some hot sauce, on a wonderful, mildly sweet and soft Coco Bread. Sybil's makes these sandwiches here, non-stop all day long, and there's a deliciously good reason why! BUT SYBIL'S IS A BAKERY ALSO! A trip to Sybil's for most people usually entails purchasing food, and then also Guyanese style baked goods. Some items of note, are the fresh Tennis Rolls, a dense, slightly sweet roll famous for being eaten with a nice slab of cheese in between, creating the best cheese sandwich ever. And if you enjoy cheese, the Cheese Roll pastry, the Cheese Pie tart and the Cheese Scone are also wonderful. And some examples of the sweeter style baked goods here, are the famous Guyana Pineapple Tarts and Guava Tarts which are a must try. Along with the Carrot Cake, Cassava Cake, Cherry buns, Coconut Drops, Chinese Cakes, Currant Rolls, and Solara, just to name a few. I LOVE THIS PLACE All in all, Sybil's is not a perfect restaurant. There are no tables to eat-in, it's usually crowded, and the ordering process can feel a bit rushed and intimidating your first time here. Moreover, if your looking for the best Trinidad style Doubles and Roti, then - without a doubt - Trinciti, Trini Delight and Singh's Roti Shop are better destinations. (Look for my previous review of Singh's Roti Shop if you have a chance). But let me tell you, if I am anywhere near Little Guyana, and I'm hungry, It's a good chance that I'm stopping at Sybil's for some of my favorite food and some magical baked items to take home. Because I really love this place, and if you get to know this unique restaurant like I do, I bet you may fall in love also.

I ordered Datiles ($10 - bacon wrapped dates), my absolute favorite Spanish tapa, as well as a Cappuccino. The Datiles were satisfyingly sweet and chewy, with crispy flavorful bacon and crunchy almond. The Cappuccino was smooth, creamy, and strong. I also had the El Camino mocktail, which was made with ginger beer & pineapple. This was light and refreshing. Also got to try the Garlic Shrimp ($19), Pan Tumaca ($7 - bread with grated tomato). Garlic Shrimp came in a tasty savory olive oil sauce containing garlic, hot pepper, and parsley. Shrimp was succulent and juicy. I did not enjoy the Pan Tumaca, which was toasted rustic bread topped with grated tomato, olive oil, and garlic. The bread was stale and hard, while the tomato was quite bland. For the entree, I shared the Steak with Fries ($35). The dish comprised of Hangar Steak, which was sliced into pieces and served medium (though I asked for medium well). While the Steak was bold in flavor, it was not tender enough and on the dry side. Fries were delightfully crispy and addicting with true potato taste. Service was decent. Our waitress was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. Despite the place being very busy, everything came out in a timely manner and we were well attended to throughout our time here. Prices were reasonable, ranging from $7-25 for tapas, and around $26-35 for large plates.
