I first began visiting the aquatic center for a swim lesson in June 2022. Since that time I have…read morevisited about half dozen times for open swim and additional lessons. The aquatic staff so far have all been very kind. The swim instructors are very knowledgeable and patient. Upkeep/cleanliness of the bathroom/locker facilities is as expected for a community pool: far from pristine, but not horribly disgusting. Of course, eveything is just going to be all wet plus kids tread in/out all day so go figure. The locker rooms are a pretty good size though with plenty of bathroom stalls and lockers (appears must bring own lock although I have not used the lockers). There are also private shower areas as well as the area to shower immediately before entering pool. I registered for Individual swim lessons online and there was also opt for group lessons. The lessons fill fast, but it is posted on the website regarding the rollout dates each month for upcoming swim lesson. There is also various opts for season passes for which I was able to register online, but also have to pay a small fee per visit as well. Only cash/check is accepted on site. Passes/lesson registration can also be obtained in-person at the Academy Rec Center next door. There are some adjacent covered picnic table areas (outside of the pool area). There is also plenty of seating around the pool as well. Open swim hours are daily, but limited to afternoon til early evening. Sufficient number of lifeguards have always been on duty when I have visited.

I was going to give a more scathing critique, but I'm a em-ca-barrussed to be too mean…read more It's in Concord, but it may as well be in discord, really. So I think this YMCA is really good in some ways, but less good in others. The front desk is really friendly and the cardio has Netflix, and had my sign in details, so that was good. On the other hand, they have big Jesus posters on the wall, and putting a banner in the cardio is lame. And there are a few issues such as are the kids coming around and cleaning the machines in the middle of the workout, and they were spraying their bottles and sweeping up dust and literally I could smell dust, made me sneeze, almost cough, during cardio, and literally I got sprayed (ew) with a little bit of spray (ew) but that's not the kids fault because they are being instructed to do so by the boss here, who was following them around, ordering them to clean more. They should be doing that when no one is working out because that's why we pay more than enough. And that stuff is toxic AF and it shouldn't be sprayed near me... let alone making me wet from spray... during my cardio. On the good side: The shower pressure is a huge thing and I appreciate that, even though a lot of the lockers are disappointingly reserved for members. It could easily have received a 3 star for the religion in my face and spray on my body and dust up my nose, but I'll generously give 4 because it was an otherwise good facility. I hope this review wasn't to em-ca-barrusing for them.

If you have arthritis, the one pool that should be warm is not a bummer. Due to renovations, men and women are changing in the same locker. Ridiculous! GROSS! Very Disappointing for sure.

What you need to know:…read more You can bring in coolers and even a grill! Pack all the food and drinks you need. There is not a lunch spot here or (near here) to buy food from. There is tons of seating available, typically a four chair, table and umbrella set up. There are some tables kind of tucked away in pretty spots but these are all first come first serve so arrive early. This establishment is CASH ONLY. The water is not "pool clean". There is a lot of sand everywhere and the water looks more like lake water. CAREFUL!! Stairs, paths and walkways are NOT level, or the same size; watch your step. The place is a bit run down and I didn't notice any life guards. But nothing looked hazardous. There are plenty of entry and exit points into and out of the water. The shallow end is 9inches and the deep end is 9ft In the women's bathroom there was only one "changing stall" - such as it was - and two toilets that were working questionably. For little ones: They can hang out in the shallow end, or go down the assortment of little slides. The 16 month old with us had a fun time. For big kids/adults: There is a rope swing, a large slide and a volley ball net. The 17 and 21 year old with me had fun. 12 and under could probably spend all day here. (At $8-$11 a person that's not bad!). After a few hours the adult [kids] were bored and ready to go. I did the big slide a few times and it was fun. I could see us potentially going back. It did get quite crowded about 2pm when we were leaving.

The other reviewer is right, the chairs are plastic and somewhat flimsy, but we didn't go to sit down. The water park is relatively small (what you see in the pictures is the entirety of the place) and it feels a little bit like you're going back in time, but it was wonderful. My 3 year old and 5 year old loved the waterslides and playing in the water. The water was chilly but refreshing. Know before you go: Bring your own food/ drinks (no alchohol), they have bathrooms but no showers, bring sunscreen and don't expect a fancy water park. It's a quaint little place that is charming and fun.
