I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

I came back shortly after my first review for a picnic so I was able to explore a little more!…read more My boyfriend and I were able to find a parking spot on 48th street which was perfect since there was a path leading down to the park. 48th street is a dead-end with multiple spots which are in front of houses so you may find a spot if you're lucky. My boyfriend and I walked from our spot to a space overlooking the water. On our walk there I saw a cute bike and walking/running paths along the way so I definitely know where I'll be going my next walk! At first, I wasn't sure if we could sit on the grass since I didn't see many people sitting on it around us but once we set everything up park patrol just drove by and that's it. I like how park patrol drives around as it makes me feel safe and secure. As time went on, the park started getting a bit more crowded with adults and children biking, walking, running, skating but nothing too crazy. It was nice to see everyone enjoying the weather! Can't wait to go back to check out the walking paths!

I came to the HMF after the Taco Fest to dance those calories off, and boy did I!!! House music will never die! It's just fun to reminisce about those good old days in the 80's when my friends and I would sneak into the clubs and just dance(and meet dudes but shhhhhh! XD) Haha those beats are still hittin bc the park was STILL packed with patrons dancing the night away. Peaceful gathering Life is short Life is unpredictable Life is a gift..... They stock the pond with fish, just make sure you have a license. I wish it wasn't so littered and that most of it was something other than alcohol containers and cogar wrappers.

I'm intrigued. Went today... cool spring afternoon. Hidden near refinery and landfill. Where do I…read morebegin? Quiet. Erie or peaceful? I think both. Creepy? A little Hidden? Very Unsettling? Kept looking back and around for other people. Saw a small family, a couple, a man and baby son, a lone guy, a guy with a bike. Still kept looking around. Path: mostly boardwalk and pebbled paths. Tall grass and trees doesn't let you see across path. Path has shade from trees. River/creek/marsh: it was dry, low tide. Didn't see any wildlife there. Smells salty. Tall deer fence: I guess to keep the deer off path? Pretty sure deer can go around it. Signs posted along path with information. No dogs allowed. Views: not much. Lots of tall grass and trees. And the landfill mountain. Very insulated. I wouldn't go alone. You can't see in or out. Poison ivy EVERYWHERE!!!!! Don't touch anything! I did like that there are lots of birds and you can hear them all. It's very quiet and has a good nature feel. I will go back to explore more. I think there needs to be more patrol or surveillance cameras.

There were a lot of deer out when I went. If you like to take pictures with an actual camera, bring a zoom lens. I am looking forward to the expansions they plan to implement. In it's current form though, it's still a great place to run or go for a walk.

There is a mile long loop path that encircles the park made of recycled tire - comfortable to walk on and well maintained. Off this main trail is a dirt path that leads to Kean University and food (Panera, Chipotle, Coldstone, and more). There's a baseball diamond and a soccer field, also. The bridge that leads to another hiking trail is closed, but you can easily walk around the stream to get to the trail. The hiking trail itself is not well kept the further in you go, mostly rocks and dirt. It gets very narrow and basically leads to a stream and not much else. There are also many ticks so be careful. Gets very busy weekday mornings with people walking the paths, and weekends staring in the afternoon.

It has a beautiful view of the bridge and the docks, an amazing garden, gorgeous gazebos, and so much to offer a wide variety of people just looking to take a walk or play some hoops. It's safe anytime of the day and there is always a police presence here. I could spend hours here doing nothing but enjoying it for all that it is while laying on a blanket people watching.
