My wife and I had a very bad experience with Jodi the realtor. We were waiting more than five years to buy our future house as a first time home buyer, but unfortunately we were dealing with the wrong realtor. From the beginning, she didn't tell us facts about the house we were buying, and we were unhappy with the property after moving in. We were still feeling uncomfortable with the house a few months later, so we decided to sell it, and use the same realtor (Jodi) to find a buyer for us. When discussing the price to sell the house, she informed us that we asking for too much based on certain issues with the property. However, she had not properly advised us on how these issues would affect the value of the property at the time that we initially purchased it.
Then she told us that she wanted to discuss the price with her partner. After 10 days, she came to us with a very silly and ridiculous answer: she recommended that we use another realtor to sell the house, because she doesn't have experience selling houses in Fairfax County, only in Loudoun County.
At this point, I asked her why you helped us buy the house in Fairfax County to begin with if you didn't have experience there, but she did not have an answer. This was our last communication with her.
If I want to be fair, she is smart, nice, and knowledgeable, but not honest or straightforward.
I say this, because the first time we provided on offer for the house when it was on the market, the next day she called us and told us that the house was in foreclosure, even though we had asked her for that information during our last meeting. During that meeting she said that: "I don't like to talk about this subject", and when my wife asked her why the seller had not put a For Sale Sign outside the house, she had no answer.
We found her to be more loyal with the seller than to us "her clients". The day before the closing date, we found that the seller removed the hanging Chandelier in the dining room. My wife was very upset with this, but Jodi said maybe it had sentimental value to the seller. Then, I discovered they had taken the hand rail from the master bathroom, and the day after closing date, I found another two hand rails in the lower bathroom shower were missing, and that they had left many holes in the ceramic tiles where the hand rails had been. When I asked Jodi to contact the seller to bring the hand rails back, she told me I could go to Lowes, and buys a caulk to fill in the holes, WOW for her magic answer.
I found that the seller had worked on the lower bathroom and that a lot of that work was in violation of the plumbing code, so planned to bring in a professional plumbing company to provide a free estimate to redo pluming on Friday. Instead Judi called me to have me bring in her plumbing guy to perform a free estimate on Thursday, because she didn't want the seller to pay the foreclosure fee that they would be required to pay if we waited until Friday. Then her plumber guy couldn't come, so he sent someone else, and Jodi asked me to pay him $85 for his visit. I found this plumber has no idea what he was doing.
We could forgive her for all these negative issues if she had gone through with helping us sell our house, but when she told me that she didn't want to hurt her own work reputation if she couldn't sell our house, that's made us very upset.
The realtor seems to care more about whatever will benefit her at any particular moment, ignoring the needs of her clients and inconveniencing them regularly. I do not recommend working with her if you intend on buying or selling your house. read more
