My doctor , Dr Thomas Shoenhofen sent me to Dr. McCall due to the severeness of the injuries caused by the falls. I made an appointment for the first available time nevertheless, the pain, swelling, numbness , tingling and color changes prompted me to ask to be seen by Dr. McCall as a "Walk-In", which is offered to patients unable to wait for an appointment. I was shocked, when the receptionist demanded I pay $350 in order to be put on Dr. McCall's waiting list, because she claimed my Medicare was suspended. I was not only humiliated and embarrassed by the receptionists ( there were 2 of them)., but also spoken to rudely and with no empathy whatsoever in front of a room full of waiting patients. I had no choice but to pay the money because of all the pain, etc. After paying the $350 on my Visa Nordstrom Credit Card and waiting more than 2 and a half hours, Dr McCall did nothing but look at mt leg and say there was nothing he could do to help. He asked if I had a wrap at home my reply was "no". He then wrapped the leg and said to see him in 2 weeks " But only if my leg was not better. We don't need to just visit" I then mentioned to him about the unprofessionalism of his receptionists. He stated " Isn't it nice to be able to be seen by the doctor as a walk-in? You're money will be refunded". Upon leaving, I was told by the receptionist that it was too late to reverse th

Then he told me the lady is on lunch have a seat. Then the lady comes back and finally calls my name. I tell her I'm here to pay for services and sessions then she said oh, they only take cash, or check and I have been paying with a credit card then she has a little quiet attitude, so I always have to explain to them. Then she finally said oh, you're looking for the lady at the end is the cashier. Then I go and used my credit card to pay. However, I asked for an extra Xerox copy of the recipe and she said you can get one from the department you're paying for. I don't think it was all that trouble to get off her chair to get another copy. I could understand if she was very busy with lots of people, but there was only one person sitting in the waiting area. It's been around since 1953 and was known back in the day to be quite a good facility. These days, it's kinda outdated and dingy, but they get the job done here and it's still popular with the older locals. They have a lab run by Alverno Laboratories that adequately takes care of any required bloodwork. They have a convenient and plentiful parking lot also.

Wow I don't even know where to start... over a year ago,…read moreafter countless hours of researching websites and setting up consults with surgeons for BA and Lip Augmentations al over the country I felt so drawn to Dr. Wiener because of the consistency of his work in his before and after photos. The Consult with him was by far the smoothest, calmest and most informative. His professionalism, knowledge and certainty shines through in his bedside manner and demeanor. I waited a year but finally on 5 October 2017 I had my surgery. From the moment I got back in touch with his office and started the process only a month prior I was given a warm welcome and given all the information I needed every time I reached out. That, combined with my diligent research and preparation and cooperation with certain aspects of this process, made this experience the most amazing journey to date! I was a small B cup and went for 615cc. I was very undecided about one week out on whether or not I wanted to go bigger than that but with Dr. Weiner's help and really considering certain elements of going larger and getting with my support group, I decided and felt so confident with no worries whatsoever on 615cc. I simply couldn't be happier and feel more confident and amazing. My preop, actual surgery and recovery at Avanti and at home have been ideal and I get compliments all of the time. It's such a relief to not have to feel self conscious about my body or to have to go through so much extra actions to create an illusion or feel embarrassed because my body doesn't measure up to the illusion I created once I get intimate. I absolutely adore and love Dr. Wiener, my assistant Maira, the Anesthesiologist, the Surgical Assistant and Karen. Karen did my lip augmentation on my One Week Follow Up visit and i couldn't be happier with the results. I felt so confident and safe and I am happier than ever! Thank you all so much!! I highly recommend Dr. Wiener, Karen and Avanti.

This unpleasant encounter reflects upon a recent office experience with the front desk assistants…read moreat the Chicago office of Midwest Foot and Ankle Clinic (Resurrection Medical Center Building on Talcott Avenue, Suite 515) and not the actual medical care I received. I had an odd injury to my foot that lingered for several years; the discomfort was (is) hard to describe and probably had to diagnose. I had x-rays taken (negative), I tried exercises, etc., but nothing seemed to work, so I reached to Midwest Foot and Ankle Clinic. Dr. Natalie Zemela was thorough, personable, knowledgeable and courteous. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the office assistants. During my first visit, I found the two assistants at the front desk somewhat disorganized and bored (with their work, and thus, with the patients) that day. Perhaps they were having a bad day, I thought. For my follow-up visit three weeks later, I made an 8am appointment on Saturday March 1st, the first one of the day. I arrived right at 8am since I knew the office didn't open until that time, and sat down, alone in an empty waiting room. No other patients were there and there was no one at the front desk. I could hear movement within the office, so I assumed the staff was getting things prepared for the day and would come and get me. I sat and waited. And waited. I waited, completely unattended, for 15 minutes. No one from the office came to the front desk and no one checked on the waiting room. As I sat quietly in an empty waiting room, I suddenly heard a voice somewhere in the office say, "Well, I guess the 8 o'clock appointment isn't showing up." Startled, I sat up in my chair. "Your 8'oclock appointment is here!!" I shouted back, to be heard. "And has been here since 8 o'clock!" Still, no one appeared at the front desk. Instead, the woman continued our conversation through the office. "Why didn't you say something?" I don't know how to answer this question. "I'm in the waiting room!! Who was I supposed to say something to? No one came up here, there's no bell, nothing." "We were here, you should have said something." she said, with no understanding, no urgency, and absolutely no sense of apology. I was speechless. Not only was I kept waiting - for no apparent reason, it seemed -- but then, I was made to feel like it was my fault that my appointment was delayed by 15 minutes! This was their medical office and I was their patient - had they forgotten our roles? Finally, the young assistant appeared at the front desk. She barely looked at me. She sat down in front of the computer and told me I had a $30 co-pay. Again, no apology, nothing, but yes, please, let our first face-to-face communication be for you to tell me that I owe money. Finally, I was led back to a room and the same assistant asked me what I am there for. I was stunned. I wasn't a new patient. Do they not have record of my previous visit? "It's a follow-up," I tell her. "I was here three weeks ago. You should have record of that." "Yeah, but what's the problem?" Do I have to tell the whole story of my foot again? It's hard to explain and I already did this last time (twice, as a matter of fact - to her and then the doctor). Do I have to tell the whole story twice - again? "Don't I have a chart? Isn't there a record of my previous visit? She looked at me stunned, as if my head had just spun around. "I have to write something down," she said. I looked at the woman, stood up and said, "Please consider this visit cancelled. And refund my co-pay since I never received medical care." This young woman was incompetent, disengaged, rude, and had a backwards idea of the office/patient relationship and responsibilities. I did not see Dr. Natalie Zemela for my follow-up that day. I am sure the actual medical care part of the visit would have been worthy of 5 stars. Unfortunately, a really bad assistant prevented that from happening.

I attributed this to normal aging and tried to pay it no attention. But after a couple of years my condition was much worse. This led to a change in lifestyle, because it became increasing hard to do normal everyday activities like driving and doing artwork. I finally acknowledged I had a problem and needed help. My doctor recommended Dr. Thomas J. Conti. This turned out to be a great recommendation! I needed a doctor like Dr. Conti. You will find him to be very approachable and easy going, as well as being an excellent physician and surgeon! Needing surgery (especially on a part of the body as delicate as the eye), you want a compassionate doctor, proven in his/her field. One that treats you like a fellow human - not just another patient. A smart doctor knows this helps to alleviate patient fears, which in turn lessons patient stress - which contributes to a more successful operation and recovery. For my type of surgery, I was awake, but given an analgesic to rid me of any pain. While, Dr. Conti's calming presence freed me of any stress. We held a conversation all throughout my surgery. I had no time to allow fear to enter my mind. I was made at ease and it was just like talking to an old friend. He was even willing to speak with my daughter, who had her own fears about my surgery - putting her mind at rest. He is a skilled surgeon who has mastered his craft to a fine point. I would recommend his services to any of my family and friends.
