Talk about a small beach!! This beach is at Point Richmond, and is also connected to Miller Knox Regional Park. Hidden is a good word for this place, because it's right next to the tunnel. But you do get some good views of the Richmond Bridge and the bay. And there are picnic and BBQ areas all around also. This beach definitely has the low key feel, but you can tell that the locals pack this place on sunny weekends or holidays. I got here on the tail end of a few BBQs going on. But, this is, without a doubt, the smallest beach that I've been to!!

No dogs allowed. That means you Wrinkles!! Dogs allowed on the Miller Knox Shoreline - just not the small sandy part here - known as Keller Beach. With all the red algae and dead fish I was curious if there was anything to be seen here. Everything was clean and nothing like what happened in Lake Merritt. Some picnic tables and lots of areas to hang and enjoy the bridge views. Maybe during the heat wave you stayed indoors - well, yesterday was a great opportunity to get outside again if your very furry and tend to overheat. Parking along the main road. No issues. Probably a very underrated beach. Some lucky people have single family homes that overlook the area up the hill a bit. Wow - that would be a great place to live.

Squirrels are everywhere here

Such a peaceful little beach! Who knew that a hidden gem like this would be tucked away in Point Richmond?! It's a beach but not the kind of beach that you'd find in Marin or Pacifica. This is what you'd call a local beach. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a true coastal beach. But what it lacks in beauty, it makes up for in character. It's super secluded with great views of the Richmond-San Rafael bridge. This beach also connects to Miller Knox Regional Park which has some nice walking trails, picnic areas, and recreational space. This beach does have a small picnic area, but there's only a few tables. You can either park on the side of the road or at Miller Knox. I stopped here to have lunch after hiking a few trails nearby. I was shocked to see virtually nobody here on a late Saturday afternoon. It was super relaxing and peaceful. It was a cloudy day but the peacefulness is what made it so enjoyable for me. Plus, I saw so many cute little squirrels. The squirrels run rampant here. Just keep an eye on your food because they're pretty fast. I did see one couple who were actually in the water, so I guess it's swimmable. This is more of a beach that I'd admire from afar, personally. It's nice to have a local beach around that doesn't require me to cross over a bridge. Really happy that I stumbled across this gem.

A must visit if you like Cooler Breeze, Open space, View of San Rafael Bridge, walking, hiking, biking, or simply just enjoying nature.

This is truly a hidden Gem. It was our first time here and we were shocked by how beautiful it is. Ocean view, nice trails, lake for the ducks. :0) There was a nice old tunnel that led us to this gorgeous view. It was the perfect weather also. While the inland was in their high 80"s, here it was low 70's. What's ready good about this place is.......There's hardly anyone here. During this pandemic, it's probably the most important thing to consider. Today, parking was not a problem. The place is huge that even if there is a large crowd......there's enough space to social distance. The road is narrow after the tunnel, but if you continue to follow it after the park, it will take you to place we're you find it gorgeous to live in.

Beach? Umm no But its an amazing place to go chill at with a large group, go trailing your dog and even spend time with your significant other there I don't see if you wanted to be romantic. The backdrop is gorgeous. Homes on the hillside are very picturesque. The bridges are beautiful to look at and of course the skyline of the beautiful San Francisco. It has a lot grass area. It has a lot of trees. But also a lot of open space to where you can literally play football

A nice local spot!! I brought my preschooler last weekend for about an hour. He had fun playing in the sand and building sand castles. Quite a few families were there too. Plenty of parking on the street, with a short walk down to the beach. I appreciate that this local spot does weekly water testing.

A little piece of heaven in Point Richmond. Its a small beach but still perfect for family BBQs, picnics, and beach days. Love coming out here. There's even a little walking trail alongside the water. Look out over and see the city, a glimpse of Golden Gate, and the bridge to Marin/San Rafael. I'm so glad the Point Richmond has continued to keep up this wonderful nature spot. It adds to the gem of this little town. So come out to relax, have fun, and get a sweet tan. Oh and bring a jacket. It's windy over here no matter what the temperature!

Used to visit as a child with my family and I have great memories here ! Usually pretty cold but the Bay Area doesn't have many beaches so we appreciate the ones we do have haha. Has multiple restrooms , on the other side of the hill they have a boat storage area , along with beautiful waterfront houses. Multiple people in the surrounding area constant foot traffic & cars are always passing through. Great spot to get away and just chill out with the kids or by yourself ! I've always seen dogs here on the streets not sure if they allow them near the beach. Hopefully you can make some great memories here ! It's a beautiful place hope you enjoy! Thanks for reading hope this helps !

Saturday, 2/06/2021 - Accidently found this little hidden beach called Keller Beach. No beach like Southern CA, but still a cute, small, quiet beach with benches/tables, a BBQ grill, open bathrooms that is fully stocked and cleaned, and a beautiful park on the other side. Nice place to take a stroll to get some fresh sea air. People were very nice. Some has masks on, while others did not. Seeing little children play together and people happily enjoying themselves was so beautiful. Got to enjoy today's CA winter weather in the Bay area in this sunshine and got my Vitamin D in finally!

What a view from my hike yes accomplishment!

Went on a Morning Hike today Gorgeous love Keller Beach view! Saturday morning hikes are the best they are hardy any people early in the mornings around 8am! Easy trails and the hike up is not long at at but for-sure you break a sweat! There are no restrooms up on the hill so make sure to use the restroom at the park area. #SelfCare

A fun local spot, affording one some sun and meditative lapping waves. Local little secret here. 9 times out of 10, I do hear a lot of Spanish. There are almost always families present. Personally, I love it and speak the language, but it's not necessarily an environment that all may find "fun".

Perfect place to relax! You got it all from swimming, hiking, and picnic. Best place to watch the tides and sunset. Come take care of your mental health and destress at Keller's Beach!

There are several benches set up along the border of the lake for visitors to relax and admire the views. A rough trail on the far side of the lake made for a somewhat challenging hike, climbing over giant rocks and weaving through trees and debris. It wasn't too bad though. The sandy beach area of the park is fenced off and only open seasonally, with a small fee to enter ($5 for adults, $3 for kids and the disabled, free for babies). But the beach cafe can be accessed from outside the gates and offers various menu items like coffee, tea, hot cocoa, smoothies, lemonade, pretzels, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and ice cream. Lake Anza is free to visit, and offers free parking in a sizable lot. Restrooms are seemingly well kept too. I enjoyed my time here this past weekend.

But there are lots of turtles and birds to watch. For picnics, there are tables and a large grassy expanse for laying down a spread and also playing frisbee. For a hike, the loop around the lake (pond?) is perfect for kids and adults who are able to climb rocks and scramble comfortably along a few narrow strips of the trail. There is a bridge and an area where kids like to explore the creek. There are other paths off the lake, but those do tend to have more mountain bikes. This is an especially nice park when we have our late summer weather in September and October. Plenty of parking.

Today I visited this spot again, and I got to park much closer than the previous time as I passed the entrance to the trail to Hippie Tree last time. The trail to the Hippie Tree has a slight incline, but pretty short hike. This time, there was just one swing. The swing was also pretty high so it was a bit difficulty to get on. The two girls who were there were not able to climb on. Then I tried to climb on, and I was able to do it. :D I showed them that using one leg to hook on the seat and holding onto the ropes to pull yourself up while swing the other leg onto the swing worked for me. This spot is truly a hidden gem, and I just felt pure tranquility when I was swinging there. :) The view is amazing even though today it was a bit foggy over in SF area so couldn't see the city and bridge as much.

Check the weather prior before going because it can be cloudy and the view won't be as great.

The beach is a small but popular destination for fishing, picnicking, and hanging out. Our friend's birthday coincides with the annual fleet week parade, so we've made a tradition of coming to Kirby Cove during fleet week weekend to celebrate, and watch the air show. Watching the planes do aerial acrobatics around the Golden Gate Bridge is something you must see at least once. To get to the beach, you'll park along the road overlooking the top of the majestic Golden Gate Bridge. Then walk to the gate where the trail leading down to the beach begins. The trail is about 1 mile, and not too steep. Things to bring: hiking shoes, water, hats, sunscreen, food, trash bags, and flip flops or water shoes for the beach - the beach is rocky, so you won't want to walk around barefoot. I can't over-emphasize the importance of sun protection here. Despite SF's reputation of being a city of fog, when the skies are clear, the sun on this beach is very intense, and there is zero shade. Sunscreen and hats are a must, and if you're planning on being there for any extended length of time, I strongly suggest bringing a sun umbrella or tent for some relief from the rays. Unless you're really hardcore, the water is too cold for swimming, but great for getting your feet wet. Go, enjoy, take lots of pictures, and savor this beautiful location. And if you're there during fleet week, we'll probably see you there!

Reserving Kirby Cove must be done 6 months in advance with your finger hovering over your keyboard by 7am; otherwise, you risk missing any of the 5 camping spots plus the Day Use. Once you reserve, you will receive a confirmation email with rules and the code to unlock the two padlocks adjacent to Battery Spencer which are awkward. While camping, you must place the confirmation email on your dashboard to inform the ranger that you are legit. From Battery Spencer, which is worth visiting, you get out of your car, unlock the 2 padlocks, open the gate, drive through the gate, get out of your car, close the gate, re-lock the two padlocks, and drive a mile to the parking lot on a dirt road. Exiting is the same procedure. Speaking of the parking lot, someone door dinged my car and left a note. Bummer! Leave a lot a space from one car to the next. From the parking lot to camp site #5, it's almost a 5 minute walk carrying a wagon full of camping stuff. Once camp was set-up, I had to take a look at the gorgeous views of the GG Bridge and the ocean from the cove. Undisputedly, the views are awesome. When it was time to go to sleep, here's where I wanted to give the campground a negative 5 stars. Every 10 minutes the foghorn sounded ALL NIGHT LONG. I couldn't sleep. Prior to the trip, I read about the foghorn and brought my Air Pods to no avail. The foghorn was LOUD. Additionally, due to the temperature inversion the pit toilet situated on the hill was so STINKY, the smell lingered in the tent. In the morning, I discovered the pit toilet on the hill was OBNOXIOUSLY STINKY, but the pit toilet at the base of the stairs was only normally stinky. After the experience of the first night, I almost gave up. Thinking that I would fall dead asleep the next night due to the lack of sleep, I pressed on. On the second night, it was particularly windy that the tent would bend to one side. Having read about the wind, the tent was securely staked. Here's the big surprise--only one LOUD foghorn sounding at around 8:30p and no stinky pit toilet smell. Although I had read that there is no water at the campground and that you have to provide your own, it was still a hassle to not have any running water. Providing your own water for a quick shower made for a cold shower experience. Another hassle are those darn raccoons that tore up the paper towel roll and ate the plastic worms for fish bait. While Kirby Cove has fantastic views, the all night foghorn experience and the VERY STINKY pit toilet are too much for me. You can't predict when the foghorn is going to sound all night or not. It's all dependent on weather. If I do go back, I may just get a Day Use pass, but for right now, it's too soon to think about returning as the pit toilet smell and the all night foghorn are still fresh on my mind.
