Now, on the other hand, I have had two brothers go through the Special Education program and have watched time and time again as the program failed my brothers. The school district misdiagnosed my little brother saying that he had ADD and so prescribed him adderall when, in reality he was dyslexic. Anyway, I think they need to develop their Special Ed programs. The school district is in need of good Special Ed teachers who bring the education to the students in a non-traditional way. I loved Robbins Lane, loved HBT and loved SHS. I thank God for the experiences I had at these schools. They made me the person I am today.

SCSD prepares you along every step of the way, and especially to be a success in, and out of the classroom. Their curriculum is challenging, yet allows even the average student to reach their potential. They also offer the most AP/advance placement classes that I know of. I myself took 12 AP courses throughout my high school career, and I can attest that their standards help you prepare for college. Their sports, among other activities allow for well-rounded students come graduation day. The fine arts program is also extremely well funded, and allows for students to pursue their interests. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Syosset's teachers are paid higher, our taxes are higher, and our superintendent gets paid too much, but results come at a cost. I cannot speak about the Special Education programs as I have no personal experience with them, but for the average student going through Syosset, the results speak for themselves. A shout out to the Girls Varsity Tennis Team which has won Long Island Championships for 3 years in a row! Rock on girls, make me proud :)

I graduated from this school in 2012 and I must say I had an amazing experience. The classes and grades were very small so the learning environment is very intimate which made it so much easier to learn. The teachers were all very wonderful and cared greatly for their students. I received a wonderful education that prepared me greatly for high school, and it was very obvious in high school that I and others that attended this school were much more prepared than students from other schools. We learned discipline and respect for one another. I received a wonderful religious education and would not trade it for anything so please disregard these other reviews, because they do not apply to the current status of this wonderful school.

With that said, my review is CURRENT! My daughter has been attending OLV (as we call it) this past year for their full day prek program. She absolutely loves it and it has been so good for her- not only socially (Never went to day care), but academically and spiritually. She is excelling at her letters and numbers (which since she wasn't in daycare I thought she might be behind). They learn about God and religion at the same time which I could not be happier. The kids are all very respectful. It's a nice small school with a community feel to it and everyone knows everyone. If My daughter is having a bad day, I can tell the office manager and she says she'll check up on her. You don't get that in a public school. And we actually live two blocks away from a public school but I felt it was too large and she would get lost in it. I don't regret my decision at all and as hard as it will be financially, we plan to keep her there till the end with 8th grade. Also want to mention their after school program is awesome. So flexible. I work from home so sometimes I can pick her up and sometimes I can't. I can call the school on the fly and put her in the after school program that day and I pay as I use it! A lot of other schools make you pay for set days with a monthly fee whether you use it or not. So please please don't go by reviews from eons ago and feel free to contact me if you want to talk about the school further! My kids, my nephew, and my two cousins went to this pre-school years ago…read more I know my kids loved it there, because come Saturday, they would beg me to go to school. Now if that's not what a mom wants to hear, then I just don't know. The teachers were always great, and the administration was always helpful and nice. I felt like I was leaving my kids with our extended family. Great place, couldn't recommend it more.

I currently have my youngest niece enrolled at Hofstra, who also had her HS graduation here, and my other niece had her college graduation held at Hofstra. I've been to the university several times, for graduation ceremonies, and to help cousins move into their dorms and moving out. The school is very easy to navigate. There's clear signs all throughout, and the parking lots of heavenly lit at night. There's always onsite security cruising around, which is a plus and gives that extra layer of protection that you, and your family who are attending are safe. The events, and student get togethers that I so often hear about are all planned by the student council, and they always seem well organized and though out, and fun might I add! You can always find something going on at the campus, planned and hosted by the students themselves. Emily, loves it here. She's forever ranting and raving about the events, meetings, after school events, bake sales, culture nights etc. All of which she helps to plan as she's the head of the student council. If you're a parent thinking to send your child here to further their education, no need to think twice. It's a great private school. The beautiful and historic Dutch estate has been ranked as a top schools in the US for many years in a row. You and your child will love and appreciate the history Hofstra has.
