I am writing this review based on the experience I had with my 80 year old mother. She had hip…read morereplacement surgery in early October 2016. From the initial office consultation, through surgery and into the follow-up visit with the doctor, all of the Hinsdale Orthopedics staff we encountered were terrific. I hesitate to name some of the staff specifically, because they were all professional, helpful and courteous, but I offer 3 in particular. Katie: during the initial office visit in August and the follow up visit in late October, Katie was knowledgeable, caring and patient. She answered all of our questions carefully and made my mom feel like she was a VIP. You can tell when someone takes pride in their work - that's Katie. Judy: working behind the scenes, Judy took care of all of the scheduling details. But more importantly, she took the time to check on progress and results. In the critical week before surgery, she noted that the labs facility (not affiliated with their office) had not followed through on the lab orders correctly. She alerted me so I could get my mom's labs taken care of so we didn't lose the surgery date. Kudos to Judy for great communications and taking the time to care about us. Dr. Alden: doctor made my mom feel at ease with his easy-going manner. Once he established that surgery was the best course of action, he made it clear that the timeline was entirely up to us - absolutely no pressure. He carefully explained her options, fully answered our questions and discussed the expectations of surgery. Interaction at the hospital and follow-up at the office was likewise caring and patient. We have no other experience to compare to. This was the first joint replacement surgery in our immediate family. But without hesitation, we would recommend Dr. Alden and his excellent staff. As I write this, mom is 3 weeks and 3 days post-surgery. For the most part, she has graduated from the walker and is using the cane around the house, becoming more independently mobile every day. Prior to surgery, she had very significant bone-on-bone pain. Her pain is now limited to minor muscle pain as she gets adapted to her new hip and increased mobility. The prognosis is for zero pain in the very near future. Thank you Dr. Alden for giving my mom a new period in her life of increased mobility and much less pain.

Dr Alden did a good job with my knee replacement. However, PROBLEM was my rehab went off the rails…read moreand he's partially to blame because he did a Manipulation Under Anesthesia without asking any questions why I wasn't progressing fast enough. The therapist (ATI) recommended by Hinsdale Orthopedics was totally incompetent but I was JUST getting my range of motion back and the MUA caused swelling putting me back to square one. Had he not done that, I would've gotten my ROM back. Insurance dropped me because I "wasn't making progress". I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane.

She was just released from his care and we are very pleased with her care. I became a patient of Dr Park recently after a knee injury from running several months ago. Dr Park explained the MRI results to me in words I could understand, showing me the MRI and clarifying any questions I had. Dr Park then took the time to call the doctor he wanted to treat my injury, had that doctor pull up my MRI on his end, and then they discussed the injury and treatment. Dr Park explained to me what exactly the procedure would entail and put in the order for that specific doctor to do the procedure. I had the procedure yesterday and was very pleased with the results. I am so happy with the care Dr Park gave and the time he took to make sure I would receive the best and right treatment. I cannot recommend him enough, he is a wonderful doctor!!

After a lifetime of playing sports, I had developed severe, debilitating pain in my left hip. I had…read moreno insurance and was beside myself with pain, fear, and panic of the thought of being in a wheelchair or on crutches for the foreseeable future; I was 47 years old and had nowhere to go. Several other doctors avoided even seeing me due to me being uninsured. Somehow--probably through divine assistance--I found Dr. Stephen Baker at Wheaton Orthopaedics. He and his staff were amazing!! They were caring, understanding and compassionate from the moment I hobbled in there. After diagnosing me as having severe deterioration of the hip joint, Dr. Baker gave me the news: I would need a full hip replacement. I was terrified at the thought of not being able to afford to pay for the surgery out of pocket...but Dr. Baker allowed me incredibly favorable payment terms to do the surgery. Dr. Baker performed the surgery flawlessly, and I was up walking after the first day! My recovery and rehab went perfectly and now I have my life back--without pain!! I say a short prayer every day thanking God for bringing Dr. Baker into my life. He and his staff are the best medical staff I've ever seen and I highly recommend them to anyone considering a hip or knee replacement. To everyone at Wheaton Orthopaedics: God Bless you all!

Old fashioned doctoring. I called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kellen Choi. I was surprised…read morethat he had multiple openings in his schedule including "tomorrow at 10:30 AM." Great! I was also told, "come in 15 minutes early so that we can update your insurance paperwork." I arrived at 10:15 AM, updated the insurance information, and sat down in the waiting room. At 11:15 AM (45 minutes after my scheduled appointment) the receptionist informed me and two other patients waiting for Dr. Choi that "he is running behind and it will be at least 45 minutes" before he could see anyone. So... I'm here at 10:30 AM and it's going to be at least NOON before he can see anyone else? And I don't even know if I'm next in line since there are two other patients waiting for him. This is clearly old fashioned doctoring. When seeing my normal doctor (who is part of the Northwestern Medical Group) I never wait more than a few minutes before I am called into the examination room. A few minutes after I am in the examination room someone is taking my vitals (temperature, blood pressure, etc.). Within 48 hours after the appointment I receive a detailed questionnaire asking me, "How long did you have to wait before you were called into the examination room? And, get this... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. Also, "How long did you have to wait in the examination room? And again... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. There is clearly the expectation that the doctors will not be overbooked and make their patients wait for them like they are gods. I'm usually a very calm person and was waiting patiently to have my shoulder looked at, but Dr. Choi's obvious overbooking put me over the top. It reminds me of the bumper sticker I once saw. It had the Bell Telephone logo and the words, "We don't care. We don't have to."
