Premier Inn - Bathroom in one of the refurbished "Premier Plus" rooms

Premier Inn

This Premier Inn is located 2 miles south of Lincoln, on the edge of the village of Canwick. We…read morestayed there in part because they have a free on-site car park, whereas the one in the centre of Lincoln doesn't. We stayed in a Premier Plus room, which comes with free Wifi, USB charging points, and slightly nicer decor (they have been refurbished recently). They are also located in a quieter part of the hotel. We found it to be clean, very comfortable, and I liked having a bath as well as a shower. The rooms have excellent sound proofing - we didn't hear any traffic noise from the adjacent main roads. The rooms come with an ironing board, iron, and hair dryer, plus extra pillows if you need them. The only we had is that the heating/air-conditioning fan was a little too noisy to use throughout the night. Not a problem for us in March, but in the summer it might be irritating. The other issue is that there's no lift, so if you have a lot of luggage a ground floor room might be better. Breakfast is served in the adjacent Beefeater restaurant. This was okay, but the cooked items were a little dried out on the hot plates: putting out less to match turnover might have been better. But the choice was fine, both of continental and cooked items. Staff were very friendly, and helped out when we'd muddled up the wifi codes (you get two codes if you are staying for two days, and each code is valid for 3 devices, but this wasn't completely clear on the meail, which you get once you have checked in). The hotel is just across the road from the entrance to the International Bomber Command memorial and visitor attraction. It's a 5 minute walk (they charge for parking, so worth thinking about). Overall, we had a very good stay and would return.

A Premier Inn is a Premier Inn but this one I've stayed in for work - and will be staying in again…read moreand I'm hapy enough about that. This one is on the outskirts of Lincoln. A typical Premier Inn, with a Table Table restaurant attached where breakfast is served if you have booked B&B and other meals can be had. Rooms are a standard layout from what I've experienced. Great, comfortable double bed, with two types of pillows and a duvet, rather than sheets. A TV with freeview is in the room, as well as mini kettle with tea and coffee. Bathroom is immaculate, cleaning is great here. For any single female travellers, there are some nice touches which I have not experienced before. Location of room is considered for you and also on check in, staff will hand you your room key/card but your room number is written on a card, rather than announced to all and sundry in reception for security reasons. Breakfast is fine - continental options available (£5.95) or full breakfast (£8.95) which includes full, continential, the works. I like how I can choose what my breakfast will consist of so as I'm gluten free the continential option is lousy for me but I can take a cooked breakfast and eat as much bacon as I want. Dinner at TableTable - paid separately is fine. It's not fine dining but pub food and staff are able to advise me what options I can have and prices are good so its all good :-)

The restaurant deco is a mix of funky and traditional country design that gives off a romantic and at ease feel about it. On walking in I was given a warm welcome and instantly offered drinks and despite there being a traditional bar, I never had to step a foot near it as the waiting service was second to none. The Lounge/bar offers the ideal environment for pre-dinner drinks and houses a relaxing log fire where we were served drinks and ordered our food before being taken to our table which is a nice touch. The menu is short yet varied and boasts 100% all local produce and locally reared meats. Freshly baked bread with dipping oils were offered complimentary and on the table when we sat down. The food was presented in an artistic fine-dine style and the portion sizes are good and filling. The price is defiantly appropriate to the service and excellent food and I will definitely be going back! I would also recommend pre-booking.

The staff were so excellent in helping us prepare for our time there, helping us come up with a menu specific for the occasion and putting in so much work to get the place looking beautiful! The food was great and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The restaurant area has a more sleek feel to it whereas around the bar there are open log fires and on one side, the bar is uniquely stocked/held up with an array of books - wonderfully unique! We have eaten there on other occasions and the service always feels more personalised than a more "corporate" place - must be a very friendly staff team all round! They are also involved in local initiative such as making record-breaking size pork pies... Definitely eye-catching! Friends of ours had heard that this place, 4-5 years back didn't have a good reputation... From our experiences the change in ownership/management has definitely pulled off a masterstroke!

I love the old cosy pub atmosphere and the collection of prints and old photos on the walls. I ordered the thin crust pizza, the one with pesto, goat cheese and caramelized onions. I asked for an addition of wild mushrooms, and it was wonderful. My hubby got the Brie & Bacon sandwich with cranberry sauce on the side, wow, that was really good as well! I had a glass Sauvignon Blanc which was lovely, have no idea where it was from, but, I really liked it. My hubby ordered the classic gin&tonic. It was a perfect place to restore ourselves after a hike in Sherwood Forest.

On the pub side, we see open fires and Cask Marque quality real ales, with 5 to choose from at any time. These turnaround very quickly and you could expect to see a new "4" on from one week to the next, seeing Bombadier as the house favourite, which remains constant The Forest Lodge is exceptionally well run. The staff are excellent and never fail to deliver. Once in the restaurant, you will find that service and quality go hand in hand, and the price won't shake you to the ground either. Excellent, fine food and realistic prices, cooked and served consistantly well. Above the bar and restaurant sees quality accomodation. Even though I live in the village, I have actually stayed there quite a few times. If you're in the area, maybe looking at Rufford, Thoresby or Clumber parks, or perhaps visiting Sherwood Forest, then the Forest lodge will not disappoint. http://www.forestlodgehotel.co.uk/

Its recently been modernised and refurbished, and the results are there for all to see. The hotel is stylish and comfortable. The rooms are likewise modern and comfortable, and wouldnt look out of place in more expensive country hotels. The restaurant is known as The Brasserie, and is excellent. From the plentiful breakfasts to the evening meals - a variety of choice from the everyday (steak and chips) to the slightly more special. A choice of drinks and a very good wine list compliments the food perfectly. The big selling point here is the New Leaf Spa - a new, modern health spa which would put any other to shame. It looks superb, and offers a pool, sauna, state of the art gym and a wide ange of beauty treatments for both men and women. The estate caters for all kinds of breaks - hiking, cycling etc, as well as offering conference and wedding packages. Its certainly one of the best hotels/spas in the area, and it compliments its surroundings perfectly.

Slow on service in the bar (now called Normanton Inn) but quality of food makes up for it, wierd items on the menu, Ostrich burger for instance.. I'll give that a miss ;-) Worth a visit - expensive to stay here but worth a coffee when passing or visiting Clumber Park itself.
