I stayed at the Hilton Nottingham for a Business Trip in February - March 2016. The quality of the hotel is OK, but I've seen much better in the US and Europe from Hilton. I stayed here because of my membership in Hilton Honors. Following this stay, I'm going to be paying more scrutiny to my stays at all Hilton properties. Here are some of the poor experiences I had at the Hilton Nottingham:
1. Laundry service - frequently the clothes i received from the hotel's laundry service were damp when hung in my room closet, and would it hurt to leave a new laundry form when delivering laundry?
2. Room housekeeping - frequently towels, toiletries, bed linens were not replaced/folded to consistent state (and I know about linen recycling, this has nothing to do with that). I mean how hard is it for the house keeping staff to ensure you have a hand towel or soap? And frequently leaving behind articles (cleaning supplies)
3. Quality of bed, - It's poor even by Hilton standards, why can't Hilton refresh their mattresses to the same consistent level?
4. Attempted to extend my stay at the hotel and had to jump through multiple hoops to get them do so, when I had told them upon setting up the reservation that I needed to extend multiple weeks, they had call in to reservations from my room, then played Hilton call center tag, until I requested a manager, who finally was able to extend my stay.
On the positive side - I interacted with a number of customer service oriented staff members, predominiately from the onsite restaurant during Breakfast. They appear to understand the value of long stay guests, and worked consistently to provide a positive customer service via politeness, timeliness and occasionnally going beyond the call - During a particularly busy morning, there was no seats available, so I requested a seat at the bar, which they quickly setup and then served me.
In addition, they're concierge staff was pretty good and helpful.
The Hotel itself should be significantly rehabbed, I get that it's in a older English building, but having the floor creak in multiple rooms on multiple floor is not character it's called dry rot. Plus some of the rooms are really even compared to NYC studio hotel rooms. If I was Hilton, I would close the hotel, gut and rehab the building and re-open with a improved interior. Just my 2 cents. read more
