We purchased a number of items and this was the first one he tried. Lisa explained to us what Wagyu is exactly (we didn't know) and how their farm operates and it was quite interesting! There is a lot of information on their website or just ask Lisa!! They also carry Angus Beef as well as American-Wagyu. Lisa also explained to my husband how to cook Wagyu and to our surprise..NOT on a grill. He followed her instructions and is very pleased! We will definitely be back for more but for now we are stocked. He looks forward to his next steak!!! The Farmstead store has some other items as well including some very awesome full zip hooded sweatshirts (currently $20!) high quality and I have to say I have been living in it If you are local and are looking for a great steak, definitely make an appointment with Lisa!! Thanks so much!!!

Family owned they have created this space as a retreat for foodies to enjoy high quality pork, as well as other products such as CBD, honey and more. I have had the privilege on trying their bacon, sausage, pork chops, lip balm, soaps, etc. Each product is well worth it from cost and love, commitment made to create the item. I especially love their uncured bacon! Known as a superfood- it really helped me recover from being sick lately giving me a boost of energy and what I needed! Highly recommend. The pork chops are the same. You cannot go wrong. You can also take farm tours and really learn about the intricacies of the business and the dedication required to make it sustainable. As a family, I commend their hard work and as a semi new farm, it is a gem in this area that needs more attention. A must see and try. Last but not least they have other items on their growing menu, including staying on the property in cool yurts as well as offering one of a kind farm to table pig roasts this summer. Go to their website for the deets.

I was hesitant to take the plunge due to the higher price of such products, but health reasons made me reconsider. I heard about Farmer Ben's and bought jjust a few items the first time (some hamburger, sausage, bacon and a couple steaks), and I was sold from thereon. The flavor, quality and freshness of the meat is unsurpassed. It's so worth the price to get such healthy, nutritious food. Their farm store sells other products as well (some excellent dairy and poultry products, plus grass-fed lamb from other farmers in the area). I hear this summer (2012) they are adding some farm grown veggies, too. Well worth the nice country drive to shop.

They had several kinds of indian food, a lush salad bar, and TONS of fresh-made deli items. I was tempted by a grilled salmon salad, gluten free mac and cheese, and the gluten free carrot cake. Ended up getting a vegan tofu burrito bowl and it was so good! I couldn't help but browse the snacks. They had every brand I love here, with flavors I had never even heard of. Ended up somehow resisting the desserts and huge fridge dedicated to olives and pickled goods and just got out with a few kinds of vegan jerky (which is hard to find for me). Again, heaven. I will have to come back on a cheat day when I am ready to sample all the gluten free dessert.

I haven't had Spam Musubi since I was in Hilo in 2017. The rice was hard and tasted like it was undercooked, and it was cold. The spam was THIN and there wasn't a lot of flavor. However, the sauce they served it with was tasty. Could use more spice, but pretty good. We got the LocoMoco and the Chicken Katsu. It is NOT your typical Japanese or Filipino style katsu, it's a little overfried, but at least the rice was better. The LocoMoco is something you'd find for Hawaiian breakfast - egg, marinated beef patty, rice, gravy. It was a fairly chilly evening so I would assume that's why it was a bit cold, but otherwise it's ok. Whatever you order from them, be patient. Ask for the hot water sauce, and give them a berak since they're new. I look forward to trying them again this summer, so that I can write a proper review once they have it all figured out!
