I have a 2003 Honda Accord. It's not really worth anything to anyone but me, because I primarily use it for work. On March 30th, I took the car to Cheeseman's after AAA had told me that I had a bad pulley. I asked that the pulley be repaired, and also asked that the brakes be checked, as I had heard them grinding. Later the same day, I was told that my AC compressor had to be replaced, and that all the brakes were fine except that the front ones would need to be replaced fairly soon. I opted to just have the compressor repaired at this time. When I drove the car that evening, I still heard the back brakes grinding, smoke coming from the engine, and the turn signals and hazard lights were no longer working properly. I thought about taking the car back to Cheeseman's, but before I got a chance, they called me and told me that they had forgotten to charge the AC compressor, and asked that I bring my car back in so they could do that. I agreed, and dropped my car off first thing this morning. A short time later, I returned their call to learn that the AC condenser needed to be replaced. I was also told that the back brake shoes and drums had to be replaced. I found this odd as I was told the day before that there was no problem with the back brakes. I had also asked that the relay switch for the turn signals and hazard lights be checked, but I'm not sure if that was even done. They asked for another $750 to fix the condenser and $450 to repair the back brakes, after I had already paid $1100. When I first took the car in, I had asked them initially to let me know what the full cost of repair was going to be, as I wanted to make a decision as to whether or not it was worth it to have such an old car repaired. If I had known that the back brakes needed to be repaired, I would have had them do that the first time I took the car in, but the lady I spoke with on the phone assured me several times the brakes were fine and that the grinding noise was probably due to dust and debris buildup. Not only am I very disappointed that my car is not repaired, the turn signals and hazard lights no longer function properly and I can't even drive it because of the brakes. I feel pretty stupid and embarrassed for trusting Cheesman's with my car, and was literally holding back tears when I went to retrieve it. They had had great reviews and recommendations on my neighborhood Facebook page. I will be taking my car to another shop to have my car properly repaired, as well as to check the work done by Cheeseman's. Honestly, if I had known that the total repairs would be well over $2000, I prwould have started purchasing another car instead. read more

I've been coming here for about 20 years now, since I first turned 16. I've had many cars since then, mostly Japanese, but even with my Volkswagen they were my guys. They always fixed what needs fixed and nothing more. I let big chain oil change places like Midas change my oil because they always have crazy specials going on, knowing that when I get the car back they'll have about a thousand dollars worth of suggested work for me. When it needs done, Keith's does it for cheaper than the others quote, and when it doesn't need done, they tell me. I just had my car in for what I feared would be a new starter and wheel hub assembly, all totaling more than my car is worth. Turns out the ground on the starter came loose, and my wheel hub is fine for now. Sweet. They've had me for 20 years, and they'll keep me for another 20 if they choose to stick around that long. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. They fixed my car last year putting in a new alternator and battery. They charged about $400 less than what Honda would have charged me. Today my car would not start and it just so happened that it was the battery they totally put a new battery in and told me no charge. I thought for sure that it was my starter. They were so honest and did not take advantage of me which they very easily could have done, since I know nothing about cars. You cannot go wrong with this place and I will never go anywhere else. This shop does good work, both quick and affordable. There are no appointments, so it's pretty much first come first serve, but they're always willing to find a way to get your car in for service. They once fixed a leaky tire for me five minutes before closing once without hassle. However, their free diagnostics have left something to be desired. I had a recurring problem they were unable to replicate that I eventually took to another shop once it became clear they weren't going to find the issue. I suppose I shouldn't expect too much for free, but it was still disappointing considering the quality of paid work they've done for me. If your car has a mystery ailment, you'd be better off taking it elsewhere, but if you know exactly what it needs, Cheeseman is a good option. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. read more

If you want your car fixed right, and at the right price, go to Cheeseman's. Located on Indianola Avenue just south of the Cooke and 71 interchange, it's in a great location for drop off and pick up - I can take my car in at 7am, catch the COTA #4 and be downtown in time to grab a coffee before work at 8. Being a woman, I am so used to being condescended to, lied to, overcharged, and strong-armed when it comes to auto repairs. It is almost strange how honest and straightforward Cheeseman's is when it comes to their work! They check things out, call you with their diagnostic, and give you their price - which is always near to the cheapest around. I'd venture to say THE cheapest around. And no extraneous stuff - they'll tell you what needs fixed and what you can hold off on a little bit. Also, they've done little side items for me at no charge (like cleaning my brakes). Best part? They're fast AND thorough, so you're not out for more than a day. My last trip in was for 100K maintenance on my Saturn. Turns out I needed new spark plug wires and a new front sway bar in addition to the usual items. Their entire price for the work was ~$630, which is $200 less than the base 100K maintenance package at the dealer (not including wires or suspension work)! I saved at LEAST $800 by bringing my car to Cheeseman's, and they had the car in, through and out by 2:00pm same-day - the dealer needed the car for a day and a half, minimum. I'm not going anywhere but Cheeseman's for car repairs. read more

Went to Keith Cheeseman's in January 2022 for my 2009 Hyundai to get both my Alternator belt and my Air conditioning (AC) belt replaced only to find out months later they only replaced the alternator belt, when I asked the mechanic bluntly replied "there's only one belt." and took advantage of the fact that I didn't know a lot about cars and charged me approx $197 just to change one belt. On top of that their receipt didn't clearly state what they did and the parts they used. I took my car to another mechanic who explained to me what they were doing and only charged me $30 to replace AC belt. I would recommend you stay far way from this place they take advantage of people, over charge, and use dry whit as justification to not explain what they're doing to your vehicle. Had a slow leak in my left rear tire. So I call, they say to come right in. Very courteous, but ready to get the job done. I thought maybe there was a hole, but it turns out the rim needed to be sanded down and resealed, and that's why it was leaking. Legit only cost me $30.00. In and out in about 20 minutes. I first came here after Valvoline told me that I needed $165 in new belts and parts when they inspected my car during a routine oil change. I ended up calling Cheeseman upon recommendation from a friend and brought my 2002 Honda over. He looked at it same day and called me to say "yeah, everything There is one particular belt that could be replaced. For parts and labor it'll cost $35." Had two major issues with my car. Check engine light was flashing. Took it to the nearby mechanic in upper Arlington quoted me "at least $1800." Needed a new ignition coil and starter kit. On recommendation of my friend Jack, I had my car towed to Keith cheesman's. Not only did they call me within an hour with a quote, the quote from them was "$620 plus tax." And included an oil change! (I know oil changes are cheap and easy but still!!) Over $1100 difference!!! I'll be picking up my car tomorrow. Not sure where all the positive reviews are coming from but please beware if you are going for more than the free air or an oil change. Not only are they expensive but they will fix your car without providing a quote despite the law being that a quote (verbal or written) shall be provided if it exceeds a certain dollar amount. When I tried to call the owner out on this , he was rude and yelled/cussed at me. One of the employees clearly felt bad for me and apologized to me on behalf of the owner but still I had been taken advantage of. Go at your own risk but be prepared for "I told you so". read more

Horrible first experience at this place, took my car in to get a hose fixed, they bumped one of the ones near by it and made me pay for it saying that it wasn't their fault that it happened. Hose ended up costing $175 before maintenance and I had to have it replaced because it wasn't drivable after that happened. first and last visit to this place. should be 0 stars. i took my historical vehicle in for front brakes and they must have put the youngest guy on the job. they left all 6 of my RF wheel's lug nuts COMPLETELY LOOSE, and after driving it a total of 5 MILES had only 3 of them left, 2 more basically ready to fall out of the holes, along with the wheel itself about to come off. what happens when a 5k lb vehicle looses its front wheel while you're driving?..... a line of excuses, including: 1) blaming the age of my car "these old cars have a way of working the nuts loose..."(???WTF???). last time i checked, lug nut technology hasn't changed much. this was the very next day, and after literally 5 miles of driving. 2) claiming they "drove it around several blocks" before i picked it up. (this matters how?) 3) lastly, claiming they have a whole process to make sure the lug nuts get snugged down (fail!) AFTER they came and picked up the car, replacing all the lug nuts with new ones, i lost 2 of my hubcaps because they messed with the screws that hold them on, again, one person there denying that they even TOUCHED them, and another saying "oh, we tried to tighten those...."(translation: we messed with them and snapped most of the screw heads off....). of course after going back AGAIN to let them know i am now out 2 $50 hub caps, i sent them a letter and gave them time to do the right thing and replace them. no response. read more
