In the event you have been avoiding coming here because you heard how dirty your kids are gonna get- CHANGE YOUR MIND!! JUST DO IT! MAKE THE DRIVE AND DIVE IN!! Don't let the porta-potty disguised as an outhouse deter you! Bring a change of clothes, mosquito repellant, snacks, cover the seats, invest in Rain boots and bring lots of baby/body wipes for the aftermath... unless your kid is one of those clean freaks and cries when they touch sand or dirt in which case, you and covid did a number on your kid and you need Keiki & Plow more than ever to get childhood and old-school play back on track! No judgment here! I'm starting with the man in the mirror... I'm telling him to change his ways... la da di da di di di de dada!! **Sigh** Yes, it's true. I was initially selfish and vain and didn't want mud in my car or any crazy additions to my laundry plight... HOWEVER, that all changed after we came here for a birthday party... The atmosphere here at sunset is... indescribable. The joy in your kids' face when they play in the mud kitchen, feed the chickens, pick their own produce, pretend to be pirates, excavate in the sandpit, slide down the GREATEST slide *ever* and cry when they have to leave is ALSO, equally, indescribable. Remember the movie 'Hook' with Robin Williams? Where Pan and the lost boys live? That's what this place feels like! Plus a garden and egg- laying hens. If you want to change up the birthday party scene, come here! Do it here! Follow them on Instagram for upcoming events because they do the COOLEST things throughout the year. We've enjoyed picking our own veggies on regular days, purchased eggs and had wonderful playdates. You can make reservations online. SIDE NOTE: The ground is uneven and very rustic charm- so ditch the slippahs and go for the covered toe shoes that you won't mind getting dirty. Also, IF having a birthday party here and there are elderly invited or people in wheelchair- keep in mind that is uneven terrain and only one port-o-potty.

My duo had a blast coming here. We went for the first time. The parking was a bit confusing. We weren't sure what direction our car needed to face. The staff and volunteers were helpful. We started exploring. I wish there was a brief guided tour for first timers. Then I could make some informed decisions on what we should do. We fed the chickens at 10. Suddenly we had to scramble to pick vegetables before time ran out. Maybe we should have picked produce first then fed the chickens. Then play time on the equipment.

One of my favorite finds for my toddler so far besides the ocean. I stumbled upon this place on Facebook and saw they had a open farm with a few Halloween activities. And let me tell you this place was very affordable and breathtakingly beautiful. They had a little playground for the Keiki, a huge mud kitchen, an area to feed the chicken and pet goats. We also got to pay to get a basket and pick our own produce. This is a hidden gem that I'm already so excited to go back to.

Dirt pit with trucks and dinosaurs. My son loved it in there.

My son and my best friend's son has such a great time here. They loved the trucks in the dirt and played in there for over half an hour. The animals are very docile and are accustomed to people. Before my first trip there I was wondering if I can bring a stroller. And the answer is yes! There is a paved road separating the garden and the play area so you can walk up that to get to where you need to. The activities are right off of it so you won't need to use it far either. I'd suggest wearing clothes that can get dirty and covered shoes.

I can't remember where I first heard about Keiki & Plow, but my sister visited with her kids a few months ago and came back with the most beautiful pack of eggs. It was one of the most fun things they did on vacation. I was excited about getting to go, myself, and now that my daughter is old enough to not put sand in her mouth, it was worth a shot. I went with a small group of other moms with toddlers. Before I went, I checked the website. It's very informative, with accurate times (Tuesday & Friday 9-11am) and cost ($5 per family). I can't wait to go back. My daughter spent the full two hours having a great time at the play area. They have it set up in stations - - goat pen, chicken pen, sand pit, water play, slide, etc. It's a small area, but there's so much to do in each station, that some kids could probably spend the entire morning at just one or two. On the Tuesday that we went, there were dozens of other kids, but it didn't feel crowded. It was exactly the right amount, so there are other kids to play with, but you don't have to wait to play with anything. Looking forward to going a lot!

Keiki & Plow is a beautiful venue! I knew from the first time I saw this place, this is where I wanted my wedding ceremony! It was just so perfect with the amazing mountainous backdrop, lush greenery and amazing rustic vibes. If you want a rustic wedding, it's pretty much good to go-- we had just added our handmade arch and lace aisle runner! I really couldn't have asked for a better ceremony location. Heather, the owner, and her family are such genuine and kind people. You really can see and feel all the love that has been put into this place to make it what it is today! The transformation is jaw dropping. Considering hosting a party, gathering or your WEDDING?! Contact them. You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much to the Mohr Ohana

We had so much fun at Keiki & Plow! My two year old loved everything about it, from the chickens, goats, sand pit, vegetable field and mud kitchen. He loved it all! The staff was so nice and accommodating. Plus, I loved how safe and clean we felt the whole time. There are a couple of different sinks with soap around the farm whenever the kids (and you) need a wash. The pick your own veggies was a fun experience as well. The older kids (adults too) loved the slide! We can't wait to go back!

Yesterday A bunch of us preschool teachers had the pleasure to visit Keiki & Plow through the Michael Bennett Foundation through their program called Farm to ECE. Keiki and Plow is a Non Profit Organization that is fairly new. I never knew this farm was located right behind Kaiser High School! In fact there is a bunch of farms located behind the school. As you drive up to their property, there is a dirt/grassy area on the left hand side. There is also a porta potty located in that area (only bathroom on the premise i believe). Because we were there for a field trip, the owner took us on a tour that she would normally take preschoolers or older kids on. She had us all stand in a circle and sing songs to get us excited to learn about plants and bugs. Next we went on a tour, the herb garden is located right above the little parking area. They have a lot of herbs growing!!(cilantro, mint, basil, etc). She then took us to the sugar cane maze! How amazing is that?! The children are able to run through the sugar cane maze. She also gave us a little history on Koko head and diamond head. We then was able to see a machine that sucks the sugar cane juice out from the stick. How cool is that?! The juice sounds really yummy to drink. Next this we came to was a chicken coop.. lots of chickens in there, also had a goat and bunnies. In this little area on their property they have toys for children to play with. A little kitchen, swings, a boat and even a slide!! Yes a slide, and yes us big kids went down the slide! Come and visit Keiki & Plow, you will not be disappointed. Bring your children here to harvest fruits and vegetables that you are able to purchase and take home! You can get different size buckets: $10, $20, and $40. Everything there is fresh, and remember to support local! There is also a little entrance fee of $5 per family (donation). Their hours of operation is Tuesday and Friday 9 and 11 am. Some must haves when you go to Keiki & Plow: -boots or shoes -sunscreen -hat -water -snacks for the children

Took my kids here today & LOVED it! My son played in the kid zone most of the time. I wish I would've taken him to pick veggies first! He didn't want to do anything else once he got to the sand box area with all the construction toys. There's a chicken pen where you can take the kids to see the chickens and look for eggs. There's a goat pen where you can brush and pet 2 goats. There's a lot of cool stuff for the kids to play with. I was told there was a lot more visitors today due to the end of summer rush. There wasn't too many veggies available for picking but it was nice to have the option to buy a basket and pick your own. We got some basil, arugula, butter lettuce, kalo & chives. I definitely want to go back!

Today I was lucky enough to come to Keiki and plow through my employer for free. Entry cost is $5.00 donation per family Hours of operation is Tuesday and Friday mornings 9am to 11am only. Keiki and plow is a non profit organization and fairly new. It's small farm with self pick veggies and eggs in Hawaii Kai with Koko Head in the background. We came on a beautiful hot sunny day! The sky was bright and no dark clouds in sight. You're able to self pick and the baskets cost by size $10/$20/$40 and eggs are $10/dozen egg They have lots of parking in front in a dirt/grassy area. When you walk in, you'll notice from self pick herbs and vegetables to your left. They also have other plants such as sugar cane with a small sugar cane mill on sight. For field trip with children they let the children taste fresh squeezed sugar cane! Sounds delicious. As you make your way to the back, they have a chicken cope as well as some goats and a bunny. Around that area you'll notice a few areas your child can play such as a pretend kitchen, boat, swing and slide! We got to slide down the slide and it was super fun! I enjoyed it. Just a heads up, the only bathroom they have is a porta potty! Hopefully sometime in the future they do build a bathroom for their customers/visitors.

View of Koko Crater from the drive

What a delightful morning playing on a farm tucked at the base of Koko Crater. I've been meaning to bring my little guy here for months, but couldn't make it work. Finally got out here yesterday and we will definitely be back. They're only open two mornings a week (at least for the public, they do school field trips, too). It's a great place for the keiki to play and experience agriculture, too. Since my 3yo is a little iffy on vegetables, I'm hoping that getting to pick his own might jumpstart his interest. We'll see! Anyhow, we arrived a little before 9am. Entrance to the farm and play area is $5 per family, which is a steal. We were directed up the hill to the play area where the chickens and bunnies live - most groups play first, then pick veggies. We had the option of purchasing fresh eggs at the entrance, or taking an empty carton and harvesting eggs as the chickens lay them. Um, yes please! We walked up the hill and my little guy went straight for the trucks and excavators - there's a big pit of sand/dirt with shovels, dinosaurs, trucks, magnifying glasses. There's a mud kitchen, a pirate boat, a swing, a net tent, a balance beam, and plenty of places for keiki to do unstructured outdoor play. They have a bunch of things that kids can just use their imaginations with - like a bunch of wood pieces to stack or build or whatever. There's a big (and steep!) slide that was a little fun for the grownups, too. Pallets for exploring and balancing. And then there's the farm! They have a bunch of chickens and they let the keiki feed them, along with the bunnies (who are a bit shy). The owners and staff were on hand to explain or answer questions. It was pretty cool when we got to see one chicken fluff up, ready to lay an egg, and then voila! She laid right in front of us. Once my little one started to look a bit tired, we decided to go pick some veggies and head home. They offer $5/$10/$15 baskets and you can pick anything you like that has a sign in front indicating it's ready. Yesterday, they had kale, chard, all kinds of herbs like basil, cilantro, thyme, oregano, and sage, a few cherry tomatoes that weren't quite ripe yet, eggplant, carrots, even papaya and banana. We spent $5 and came home with some herbs, an eggplant, two green bananas, and a couple carrots, and the fun of picking them ourselves. Staff were available for questions about the produce and picking but totally not overbearing. I think what I appreciated most is the aloha and laid-back attitude here. They give the keiki a lot of freedom to just come and enjoy. Within about 20 minutes of opening, it got pretty busy (I think schools are out now, though I mostly saw pre-K kiddos, there was a mix of early school-age, too) but didn't feel especially crowded because there were always open places to go. Some extra seating for the grown-ups would have been nice, but it was also fun to play and explore right along with the keiki. It's just behind Kaiser HS. Parking is available on-site for about 20 cars or so. No restrooms, so plan ahead! They do have a handwashing station. Bring your own snacks and water.

Super cute little farm in Hawaii Kai! Who would've knew something like this existed in HK?! We went as a small group at 9am when they opened; get there right when they open before the parking fills up and it gets crowded. I definitely was not expecting the place to have gotten as crowded as it did. You can pick different basket sizes with varying prices, to fill up with whatever you pick from what they're growing/in season. They have a cute little play area as well with chickens, bunnies, a slide, and rope swings. Our kids loved it!

That was when I found out they offer a farm tour that includes a sampling of Plant Based food from their farm. I contacted them originally on Instagram and they were so responsive. A few days before they messaged me asking if I was still interested. I then communicated with Marcos about the tour. They accommodated us with a Sunday tour even though they don't usually do that on Sunday. I came with a group of 8 other ladies. The farm is tucked away in East Honolulu (Hawaii Kai). We received a tour that included information about different plants medicinal properties as well as info about different fruits and vegetables grown on the farm. We then went to have a drink of Noni, fruit plate with papaya and mango, pineapple mint juice, and fresh coconut water. We learned the correct way to drink Noni, and then drank it...well some of it. The mango and papaya were so fresh and delicious. The pineapple mint juice tasted amazing I'm going to try to make that myself. And the coconut water was very refreshing. We were then invited up to the table area for what I thought would be a small sampling of food. Instead we were treated to a plant based feast of salad, boiled cassava, fried cassava, coconut ceviche (a plant based version of ceviche), salsa verde, tortilla chips, roasted okra and eggplant, and more fresh papaya. We had a nice meal and passed around the trays of food family style. Marcos's wife Michelle came to talk to us and talked about their Full Moon events which sounds like something I definitely want to try. Also, the table was backing the most beautiful view of Diamond Head and the ocean. I am so appreciative to Sun Farm for hosting my group, this was such a memorable day. I can't say enough good things about this place, just go visit!

You can also feed the goats by visiting the food booth and paying one of the staff members for a cup of dried green bites. We took lots of pics, it was getting hot for us but what ever, it's Hawaii. Our favorite part was the sunflower field, it was away from the crowd and we can choose any lane to take pics, just watch out for bees if you're afraid of them or can't tell between wasps, yellow jackets or bees. It looked like a lot of the good pumpkins were already picked out so the pumpkin field looked pretty decent, the swing that's at the pumpkin patch area was a nice touch though.

They offer shipping to other states, which is nice if you wanted to send as a gift or for a friend who collects orchids. What some might not know, is Kawamoto used to compete in the mainland in orchid shows. Yup you have to be on top of your game if you fly your orchids to the mainland to compete. So yeah, they know a little something, something about orchids. So if you are you looking for an orchid for yourself or as a gift, come on down and check them out.

Average price for one orchid plant in a ceramic pot was too expensive (over $150) for my budget. I was feeling defeated when I came across Kawamoto Orchid Nursery. The price was perfect, just right for a single orchid plant potted with green foliage, moss and a decorative butterfly in an elegant ceramic pot. The best part was the delivery fee was included in the price! I couldn't believe it, I thought I had misread the final price, most places were charging average $20 extra for delivery! My friend sent me a photo upon delivery, it was beautiful! Thank you, Kawamoto Orchid Nursery!

There's a few tables inside and more seating outside. I got the calzone with pepperoni and the blackened ahi Caesar salad. The calzones here are definitely a must! I love the different cheeses they use as they complement each other really well. The calzone was crispy and not super doughy which I liked. I would probably pass on the Caesar salad next time though. The dressing was watery and the fish was dry. The service here was exceptional. My friend brought her dog, and the workers brought out a water bowl and kept checking up on us. Overall, pretty decent spot for dinner and the ambiance is nice. I would come back just for their calzone.

We dined on a Friday night, so many of the other restaurants were busy and loud. This was exactly what we were looking for after a busy work week. The food quality is very good. Our food was tasty, timely, and hot. Our server correctly recommended the vodka sauce chicken pasta and the grandma pizza, which were both amazing. Although the pizza was a bit pricey, $31, it can easily feed a family due to its large size. For the pasta, the noodles were cooked to a perfect Al dente and the sauce was out of this world. The grandma pizza, similar to Boston's spinach and garlic pizza, was AMAZING! Easily tops Boston's version because of the Alfredo sauce that they use as the base. The service was impeccable, efficient, and friendly. The staff were very polite and attentive throughout our visit. If you're looking for a better alternative for exceptional Italian cuisine in Hawaii Kai, Repetti's is your place. Removed from the hustle and bustle, and always welcoming and good.
