This is a nice base to visit with all the necessary amenities, including commissary, exchange, gym, pool, bank, postal office, fish bowl.... and of course the golf course! Yes most of the amenities closes fairly early, but so are other bases. Easy access with 2 gates mostly open & close to restaurants, shops and the beach. At the end, all I want to say is, if you feel like complaining about this base, go check out an Army base, you will be much grateful for this one read more

So that it helps someone else, sharing what we didn't know and wish we did because they really screwed our family! In tech school if you need different formatting for tests for a disability you can bring in a Dr note with the accommodations you need to succeed but you have to do it at the beginning of the class or they will ignore it. If you need a pause between taking tests because you are struggling you can be put on a medical hold. They are not following ADA regulations here and are hiding options from students and should be sued!!! read more

Arrived to Keesler AFB on 14th Dec 2015 for tech school.. Oh man, where can I begin on first expression! The beach, the casinos, the dining experience, the sunset views... etc, Its endless! Now a slight history about Keesler that I have expereinced for the past 2.5 months; Keesler Air Force Base is part of the Air Education and Training Command, and its primary mission, since 1941, has been training the best future Airmen to help fly, fight, and win the mission! The emphasis is on high-technology training in a number of fields, primarily in the electronics specialties. Keesler AFB is located in Biloxi, Mississippi on the Gulf Coast. There are strong military ties throughout the area... Keesler AFB is located approximately 1 hour east of New Orleans, LA; 1 hour west of Mobile, AL; and 4 hours south of Jackson, MS.... Derppppp! This review is strictly a review of a triangle gym located on Keesler AFB. LOVE this gym! Anytime I come here it's hardly busy and there is lots of space and plenty of weights and machines. This is mostly a gym for weight lifting but they do have a few cardio machines(treadmill, stair stepper, bikes, elliptical). The gym building is a little dated but it gets the job done. The bathrooms are very small but they do have showers and lockers. Good spot for a workout if you have base access. read more

I love this base!! It's one of nicest bases I have visited. From my understanding almost everything on the base is relatively new due to rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. The commissary and BX are large, relatively new and well-stocked. There are 3 fitness centers... I only visited one, the Blake Fitness Center. There are so many places to take a walk or run on a nice day: the track beside Blake Fitness Center, the running track near the flight line and Back Bay, and Marina Park. This is great because everyone on this base seems to exercise!! I've been to many military bases and seen quite a few overweight, lazy military members... Not this base. There seems to always be someone out exercising. The following are also on base: a movie theater, bowling alley, post office, car wash, auto hobby shop, youth center with a pool, and an arts and crafts center. I also have to give kudos to MWR or whoever plans all the activities on base. There was always something going on at Keesler. The first weekend of my visit they had a "Cruisin Keesler Classic Car Show" going on at Marina Park. That same day they also had some Latina dancers performing outside the BX for Hispanic Heritage Month. Football season on base was great because they have Sunday NFL Ticket at Bay Breeze Event Center on base. The base does a great job getting the word out about activities via their website and Facebook. On their website I saw something about watercolor classes at the arts and crafts center as well as a "Ghouls in the Park" for the kids to celebrate Halloween on base. They even advertised for an Oktoberfest event happening at Bay Breeze. Also, what other base has the beach directly across the street and its own pier, boardwalks, boat dock, and boat launches. You can fish at Back Bay of Biloxi right on base!! It's fantastic. My biggest and only compliant about this base, and all military bases I have visited for that matter, is the Temporary Family Lodging. First of all, I have yet to visit a base that has TLF as nice as regular family housing on base. These bases seem unwilling to spend money on updating and refurnishing TLF and other lodging. Most have bug problems and are in varying states of disrepair. Furthermore, the bases contract out the maid services, so cleanliness suffers tremendously. I have no idea why any military base would want its visitors and new personnel to have dirty, moldy TLF housing as their first impression. Stop being cheap with the onbase lodging!!! Everything else on base seems nice and new though. read more

For one reason or another Keesler commissary has problem stocking their products. Freedom choice whole green beans have not been on the shelf over the past two weeks. Also Zatarains Bake Crisp (pork) has not been stocked for over a month. Perhaps they should remove the Item available from the shelf. read more

Kessler Air Force base is the dumps we made a reservation over a month and a 1/2 ago drove 8 hours from kings Bay Georgia to Biloxi Mississippi to be told that they did not have a room for us After we receive 3 email confirmations and four telephone calls to them confirming our room and 3 of the phone calls was on the travel and no one called to tell us that they did not have hot water in the rooms and that they shut the whole building. They never accommoded us not once and we had to turn around at 11 o'clock at night and go back to kings bay Georgia we will never my husband and I stay in Kessler hole in the wall Air Force base ever again and we thought the Air Force base was supposed to be the cream of the crop. SOH'S Again this was the worst customer service ever I never would have thought that any military facility would treat retirees and their dependents and spouse the way ya'll treated us shame on you we will never stay at your facility ever again. Keesler Airforce Base Inn is very affordable and clean. I didn't see any bugs. Kitchen is clean with complete pots, pans, microwave, refrigerator, oven , toaster and utensils.the bathroom is clean, with good new looking towels and it smells good. They provide soap and shampoo. The bedroom is spacious. Their staff are courteous. They provide excellent service. The only complaint I have is the tissue boxes were open. They should provide a new, unopened tissue box for their next visitors for health / safety reasons. read more

Many of you don't realize how great it is to be stationed here. You have the southern hospitality, great local seafoods and cuisine, fresh air from the beach, Mardi Gras and rich history. If you were stationed away from your family and had to stand outside in the freezing snow, then maybe you have justification to be complaining. I love the Keesler area. read more

We stayed at the air force inns during a visit to biloxi for some gambling. Figured staying on base was a safe bet. Might have been safe but our room was gross. I uploaded a picture of the nasty toliet that greeted us. 3 lightbulbs were burnt out in our dorm hotel room and the thermostat was locked at 78 degrees. Front desk was apoligetic about it but offered no fix or money back. I wasnt even bothered by the 19 inch tube t.v. or the holes in the wall patched with plywood screw over, or the black mold over the air vents but come on guys! By far the worst stay at a base i've ever experienced. Tok bad too, because the base as a whole ia gorgeous. Spend the extra money and stay in a casino hotel. Wish I had. read more

I like going to the base with my boyfriend whenever we go to Mississippi. The surrounding area has tons of restaurants and places to go. The beach nearby is a good place to go to for a get-away ( if it is not too hot, but even if it is, you may find yourself wishing that you could take a nice stroll whenever the weather gets cooler.... ) You will need to have passes or some form of ID to get on the base. It is very quiet and things appear organized. When you go to the stores on the base, the lines are quick and short (a plus for those of us who have a limited amount of patience and do not like to stand in lines....) If given the chance, even I would like to work on a base similar to this one, so for those of you looking for a job, this seems like a nice and safe place to work as well. While this place may seem nice and peaceful, it is not perfect. Some areas are nicer than others because some places are still being rebuilt, but there is visible progress. I arrived at Keesler for the Aircraft communictions and navigation school in Oct 1954. I was assigned to the old wooden baracks where we lived in two men cubicals. I went to school in Allie and Dolan halls until June 55. During my 13 years in the USAF I worked on the flight line and in the shops and then taught in a Field Trainging Det (FTD) on the C-119, C-130A both in Oklahoma, the F86D interceptor in Morocco, the F-101A and C Voodoos, fighter bombers at Woodbridge England, the F-101B interceptor at Hamilton Field, bay area California, the T-37 and T-38 trainers at Laughlif field, Del Rio Texas and Laredo Texas. The USAF taught this old country boy electronics and after a family crisis forced me to accept an honorable dischared on compasonate grounds I worked another 35 years doing electronic work until I retired in 2001 age 65. I feel that I have had a successful life and I give the USAF and Keesler the credit. I am glad I was in during the old wooden barracks days, the triangle area was either under construcion or new when I was there. My squadron was in the north east corner of the base. I believe it was about where the BOQ is today. I am a happy camper. read more

I am only taking points off from the perspective of the "hotel". For those stationed here for PCS & TDY for training expect the "hotel" management to suck at doing their jobs. Expect them to tell you they will just move your room rather than fix the problem. The WIFI is sub-par (at times the speeds will go as low as 400 kbps). If they get a "cold snap" (less than 50 degrees) they turn on the heat and then when the temperature inside rooms are above 80 as it is over 70-80 degrees outside they will instruct you to simply open your window to attempt to cool your room off to maybe upper 70s low 80s. The room will have a TV, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker (weird considering they make exception on hot plates for that), and you will have to share bathroom with suite-mate. The only thing maids do that turns it into a "hotel" and not a dorm is that they provide towels, make bed, remove trash, and provide shampoo/ soap. Otherwise I had to buy cleaning supplies for the bathroom and sink. There is no common area to cook like there is at most dorms. The laundry facility is a mess and equivalent to a boiler room. The unfortunate aspect would be that the school house is apparently reserving rooms for the students so even if they receive Non-Available letter such as myself the room had been reserved and therefore i had to move in. Please ensure to rate the staff as applicable and make sure to keep on them as they are part of the FSS and therefore should be held to the same standards as the rest of the military and not treated differently and allowed to belittle their guests as well as assume we should have to just deal with being given a crappy situation without any attempt to remedy the situation. I am only writing this for the airmen who look forward to PCS/ TDY for school to be given a fair idea of how they will be treated. The more people to complain and push for Excellence in all We DO the more likely the problem will be resolved and the guests here may some day be treated like actual hotel guests and not temporary prisoners. Overall the rest of the base is nice. They have an amazing BX & Commissary. The gyms are great and the tracks around base have a beautiful scenery. I hope this helps. Thank you. read more
