Metro Pup SA Dog Walking & Pet Sitting

Metro Pup SA Dog Walking & Pet Sitting

Metro Pup stands out from the pack as hands-down the best dog walkers we have ever had in our 3…read moreyears in San Antonio (or elsewhere for that matter). From the first meet and greet session, we knew our dog Ghost was going to be fast friends with Gerrit. Every day, Ghost waited eagerly by the door for his buddy to arrive for their daily walk. Gerrit always treated Ghost like family, giving him the time he needed to sniff the flowers, a treat when he returned, a clean water bowl, and lots of belly scratches. After the walk, we would always receive a nice little summary of the walk accompanied by awesome photos (examples below). In the rare instance Gerrit couldn't be there, Eric and the rest of the MetroPup team could be counted on to fill in. Never did we have to scramble to find a last-minute walker or worry about putting our pup in the hands of a complete stranger. The app they use (Time To Pet) makes scheduling appointments, communicating with the team, and receiving photos of the walk a breeze. I have absolutely zero hesitation in recommending Metro Pup to anyone who needs a dog walker in San Antonio. As we move away, I know that Ghost is going to miss his buddy and we will miss the peace of mind that Metro Pup provided.

Gerrit is such a natural with my feathered family (and they are a finicky bunch)! Finally, I love that my pets get to stay in the familiarity of home and have the care come to them. The sitters can even stay overnight to calm anxious pets! Detailed notes and pics are provided at every single visit via their mobile app! I give Metro Pup my very highest endorsement. They are the very best!

There's something special about Liz and John (and their team) at Snagglefoot. We've been using them…read morefor years, and they take wonderful care of our 3 dogs - the dogs are so calm and in such good spirits when we return it's like we never left. They truly treat your pets like family! It's easy to talk about the great service Snagglefoot provides when things go well. Where they really set themselves apart, however, is when things go wrong, as they did on our recent weekend away. One of our dogs got desperately sick with a gastrointestinal issue, and I cannot say enough positive things about how Liz, John, and Denise (that day's sitter) handled the situation. It was truly above and beyond! When the dog sitter calls and you're 6 hours away, it's an uneasy feeling. But Liz has such a kindness about her - and a sense of humor! She puts your worries at ease, demonstrates a willingness to help, and does so with patience and concern for your pet. We are so thankful for Denise who first found the disaster, cleaned the initial mess, calmed the sick and stressed-out dog, while still managing to take good care of the other two. We are also incredibly thankful for Liz and John, who arrived soon after to assess the situation. When she called me, Liz immediately offered to take the sick dog to the vet (at 4pm on a Friday). She then administered the first round of medications and rearranged her Snagglefoot schedule so she could stay overnight at our home. It meant so much to us that she'd be available if the dog continued to be sick overnight and to administer the next round of meds in the morning. It also meant a lot that Liz and John cleaned around the house *again* prior to our arriving back home the following night. I whole-heartedly recommend Snagglefoot for your pet-sitting needs! On any given normal visit, you will sense how much they love getting to know your animals. And on those rare occasions when things don't go as planned, you can take comfort in knowing that Liz and John will care for your pets as if they were their own.

After each walk we get photos and a report and they bill weekly which is convenient. They are reliable and kind - such a relief when I need to be in the office. Highly recommend!

Mr. Clyde is a 70lb pit/boxer/shepherd who is a sweetheart, absolutely gentle and almost maternal…read morewith itty bitty foster kittens, and eager to please - but also bouncy, excitable, a super sensitive energy sponge, loves to bear hug, and could probably outpull a Mack truck. Since moving to San Antonio two years ago, he's also increasingly dog reactive, especially on leash. It doesn't help that we were jumped a few times while on walks by loose or stray puppers, and my own history of ptsd, which can make it very hard to stay calm and self regulate for the sake of the delicate flower you're walking with. Anyhoo, I had finally gotten to working with a trainer, we were making progress - and my job started changing my hours/commutes to where I would need to find a dog walker. But I was worried Clyde would rip somebody's arm off or break through a fence or eat some stray dog's face off or who knows what. What I REALLY wanted was a person who did, for lack of a better term, training walks, someone who could check their ego (there's a lot of that in the dog training world) and support the work I was doing with the trainer we were working with. They would have to be strong, calm, consistent, and communicative. Surely this animal did not exist... Matt is all of those things. A freaking dog training walker unicorn. At our first meeting he listened intently, asked appropriate questions, and when we took Mr. Clyde out for a few minutes of "see, this is what he does" and not only didn't get his arm shoulder dislocated, but got Clyde to sit and be pretty calm I let out a huge breath of relief. Matt worked with Clyde pretty regularly for several weeks, and I noticed big changes in him immediately both when I got home and when we went on our walks. It was wonderful to actually start enjoying walking with my dog again. Then my work hours changed once more, and even though Clyde didn't work with Matt as much, he was always happier and more calm the days he did - and I could breathe easy knowing Clyde was in great hands. Matt never flaked on a day he was scheduled, he was attentive to the weather and how it would affect Clyde, then adjust their outings accordingly. Also, recently I lost one of my cats to sudden heart failure, and my other cat (they were adopted together as kittens and never separated before) has been completely distraught any time I leave with Clyde. He would howl and cry so loud I could hear him across the street, and after a week of poor Clyde not getting a proper walk because of poor Blue I was desperate and reached out to Matt, who was able to come that same evening and give Clyde a much needed romp and me a much, much needed break. Now I'm moving several hours from San Antonio, and I'm already very vexed that there will be no more Matt to help with Mr. Clyde :/ If you need a trustworthy, reliable person to train-walk your beast, then I highly recommend Matt.

He bit my husband all the way home from Austin (where we picked him up) and then proceeded to let us know he wasn't potty trained the moment we got to the house. Shortly after, he also let us know he did not like visitors to our apartment. He'd follow them around nipping and growling at their feet relentlessly. We gave him grace for awhile thinking it was the new environment, but after he bit the Petco Trainer during the graduation of Adult 1, we knew we had to do something. From the moment that I called Karma Dog Training, I felt very comfortable. Jeff answered my call and he patiently listened to me explain the situation. He went into detail about dog aggression and referred us to Carolyn. Carolyn was prompt in helping me get scheduled for an appointment and arrived on the decided time. Our first secession was last night. The moment Carolyn arrived I could tell she was perfect for the situation. She is very soft spoken and gentle. My husband and I watched as she went through a series of potential trigger test on him. She isolated sound quickly, which never even occurred to me! Carolyn informed us that Drake's aggression is definitely fear based. She gave us exercises that we can do with our guest to help build his confidence. Also, she walked us through the steps of greeting guest, from the moment they knock on the door. We know that this will be a journey of replacing fearful situations, with positive ones, but I can tell with the tools and advice she gave us, that we have a starting foundation to build on. On a side note, we recently adopted another dog named Elena. We have not had the time to start obedience training with her, and she is only six months. Needless to say, she's quite the wiggle worm. Towards the end of the session, we let her down for the greeting the guest portion. She literally would just plop down in a sit at Carolyn's feet, and spend minutes calmly looking up at her. I was baffled. Her attention span is about two seconds. Overall, we received 10-star customer service! The whole process was fantastic, and we are looking forward to having another session. Let it be known, that I researched, and spoke to over 10 dog trainers/ behaviorists in San Antonio.. and can honestly say my experience with Karma Dog Training was the best! My husband and I have no doubt in our minds that Carolyn will be our go to trainer for any issues here on out.
