Please do not take your dog to this facility under any circumstances…read more My dog was injured twice in just three weeks while in their care--both times severely enough that he needed sedation, stitches, antibiotics, and pain medication. When we first started using this daycare, I noticed frequent billing errors and miscommunication, but I tried to be patient. Then things became more concerning. Three weeks ago, I boarded my dog while I was out of town. Within hours, I got a call saying he had been injured by another dog and had to be rushed to my vet for stitches. That alone had me seriously considering canceling his membership. But I decided to let him finish out the final week we had already paid for. On the very first day back, just hours after dropping him off, they called me again: he was injured--again. This time, they tried to blame him, saying he "escaped from his crate." Their stories kept changing, and I never got a consistent or honest explanation. Even the district manager admitted she didn't believe the injury was caused by the crate. When I spoke with the owner, it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. He was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional--yelling over me, refusing to let me speak, and at one point told me, as I was crying over the phone, that he wouldn't "sit on the phone and listen to me cry" and that I needed to "pull myself together." I've never been treated with such disrespect and coldness. Since sharing my experience online, multiple people have come forward saying similar things happened to their dogs at this same facility. I trusted them with my dog's safety and well-being, and they failed him twice. Please don't make the same mistake. In response to Dogtopia and their comment, you only covered his stay because I demanded it. You also are responsible for his care so taking him to the vet because of his injuries caused by another dog is not going above and beyond. We were out of town so would you just leave him to suffer in his cage? You also state that his second injury is from escaping from his cage but if his cage was latched properly that would have never happened. I would also like to add that the vet said both injuries resembled each other they were just in different locations. This is not from trying to get out of the cage which your district manager Amanda agreed!

Our three pets were boarded at Dogtopia Alamo Ranch from 12/22/24-1/3/25 during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. As with many pet parents, we love our babies. We checked the monitors to see how each was doing, and I made several calls to obtain updates. We were told they were doing very well. The monitors said a different story. When previewing the monitors, my family and I noticed our elder pet-schnauzer rat terrier mixed (not a big dog at all) was often in the kennel. I called and was informed that he gets excited, and they place him there to rest/calm down. I explained that he is uncomfortable around big dogs, and it causes him to become stressed. This was the same routine for several days. I sent an e-mail asking if he could be placed in the Toybox with one of his siblings. I was told no because the lead said he was fine where he was, and they saw no reason to move him. No matter how I tried to rationalize and plead my reasoning. The response stayed the same: "No." Upon arrival to pick our pets up, my husband was informed that one of my dogs was chewing on his tail. When we arrived home and checked his tail, it had specks of blood, and approximately 6 " of his tail was eaten raw. Again, we called and checked on our dogs, but no one thought to share this critical concern. Additionally, our little one had old feces on his coat and paws, and dogs had urinated upon him. All three smelled horrible and were not taken care of. We will NEVER take our pets to Dogtopia nor recommend any pet owner who loves their pets to patronize that horrible, unprofessional place! We should have turned away when the young lady- I believe Christy was rude!

I got frustrated and pushed him out of the way - unfortunately, I have the most clumsy cat in the world and my pushed caused him to lose balance, he slipped off the counter and got his leg trapped in the oven handle, dislocating his hip on the way down. The cry he let out was the worst noise I've ever heard and I rushed him to the closest vet I knew of - Culebra Creek. I went in carrying my baby's car seat and my brother had the cat in one of those 18 gallon tubs (I had nothing else lol) I walked in absolutely hysterical, barely able to speak or breathe between my sobs. I felt so guilty. Both ladies behind the counter smiled gently and asked me what happened. All I could muster up was squeaking out "my....cat's....hip...." before one of them took the tub back to a room and the other handed me paperwork. They told me the doctor had just left for lunch, but they disappeared into the back room and came out a few minutes later saying the doctor decided to see my kitten before going to lunch. They likely heard me crying like a crazy person and apologizing over and over despite the kitten not being with me anymore. Once I calmed down and told the ladies at the front desk what happened, they both told me it's easy to feel guilty, but he's going to okay and he will forgive me quickly. The vet came out a bit later and told me they had to sedate him with some ketamine to get X-rays and nothing was broke. I kept asking what happened, but the vet would just repeatedly say "he's going to be okay". I'm sure he was trying to deescalate the situation and it worked. They asked us to come back in a few hours after my cat woke up from the procedure and was able to be monitored until he was ready to go home. When I went back to pick him up, they told me his leg was better, but he would be in paid for a few days and had extreme swelling around the hip joint so they gave me pain medicine and a steroid for him. They also were able to diagnose his eye which was goopy and looking pretty awful. The vet asked about it and I told them another vet I went to said it was noting to worry about it and gave me antibiotics for an "infection" . Culebra Creek told me it was an ear mite allergy and they provided him the first dose then told me to dose him each month. Now to the bill. I was terrified to know as they have a routine vet visit cost and an emergency vet visit. Here's everything that I expected to be charged for - Four X-rays - Ketamine sedation - Putting his hip back into place - Treatment for eye infection - Monitoring until he was conscious - Pain reliever for home - Steroids for home - 3 month supply of ear mite treatment My total bill was high, but MUCH lower than I expected - $500 for everything. I was floored as I expected to easily pay over a thousand for the emergency visit and everything else. 1000/10 recommend this vet for ALL your pet needs! They were empathetic, understanding, quick to respond, affordable, and most importantly were able to easily deescalated a hysterical post-partum mom that hurt her own cat and was devastated. I still feel guilty to this day about what happened, but I'm so glad Culebra Creek has the staff they do. (If anyone is curious, the vet never did confirm his leg was dislocated as it was visibly obvious - I'll spare you the details. I think they made the best decision by not reiterating the obvious to an emotionally unstable mom. I'm sure had I asked, they would have confirmed, but the empathetic looks I received when I said I caused the dislocation and the "accidents happen, he knows you love him and didn't mean to hurt him" was enough to confirm.)

Yes I was her 3rd but final furever home which is probably why she had severe separation anxiety, timid toward men, and leash reactivity. I saw someone recommend them and then the owner Jessica replied as well and we started training a few weeks later. Prior to training I never would have thought I'd be able to take her around other dogs but now she's a gem. Jessica was able to teach me more about the different German Shepherd working lines which was a crucial part for me to understand why previous methods failed. Now my Sammi is more focused on we with walks, can be around other dogs with out reacting when she's on leash and behaves better at home. The best part is her spirit us not broken which I was worried about. She still runs around with her weird German Shepherd antics but now she listens. Currently we are still with them for our next training journey -- mobilty support/medical alert service dog training. I can't thank Tandem Canines enough for thier help and not just with training Sammi but me too. I highly recommend them to anyone that needs help with thier fur babies.

I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet. This review is based on my personal experience. I am not seeking a refund, to be made whole again, or for changes to be made. It is simply informative.
