I immediately found them to be extremely friendly, down to earth and honest about expectations, cost and timing. I was looking for a fast turnaround in terms of getting them out for the cleaning, which they accommodated by coming to my house on a Sunday! On the day of the cleaning, the great communication continued, with a heads up call that they were on their way to the house, and they were right on time. The cleaning took about 3 hours, and they did a really great and thorough job with no detail left unattended. The house was literally spotless when they were done -- and the best part was that the place was shiny clean without the gross, noxious smell of chemical cleaning products left behind. I would definitely recommend VTGC to friends or family, and plan to have them come back regularly. Top-notch customer service.

Slate is definitely one of those stores. I stopped in on Christmas Eve just to browse around and I wish I could have bought everything in the place! It is a pretty hipster little store, and everything inside would be both useful to have in your home and serve as a conversation starter with guests. The items are unique, interesting, and high quality. There are kitchen gadgets, bar cart fixings, home decor items, greeting cards, jewelry...the list goes on. It's a great store and fits well with the Church Street aesthetic.

Rice Lumber seems like a good lumber yard. They offer free delivery and have been very helpful on…read morethe phone. But in the store, employees are frequently not wearing masks. Both times I have gone there was an employee at the checkout counter without a mask on (there were also, incidentally, one or two with masks on). They have some plastic walls partially dividing the customers from the sales associates, but these don't offer anything close to an air barrier, and I noticed that everyone tends to talk at the gaps in the hard plastic anyway, where they can hand one another things easily. The irony is that Rice Lumber has signs posted everywhere saying customers must wear masks. It would be great if they would offer customers the same respect and decency they are demanding from them. When covid fades away, of course, all of this will be irrelevant. But, for now, I'll either go elsewhere or place my orders on the phone. In the meantime, they should just wear masks. It's pretty simple.

After comparing prices, we found that Burlington Furniture was quoting us $2,000 more than a California company, even with shipping and assembly included. Still, we wanted to support a local business, so we returned to Burlington Furniture, and they agreed to match the competitor's price. We were given an estimated delivery date of 4/30. When we followed up, we were surprised to hear that our furniture wouldn't arrive for nearly two more months. We understand that delays happen, but we were frustrated by the lack of communication. I called the manager to get clarity and was told that the employee who gave us that update was no longer with the company. She promised to follow up--which she did--but she didn't provide a new delivery timeline. Instead, she told us the order wasn't actually delayed and that deliveries typically arrive two weeks after the estimated date. It's unclear why the original estimate wouldn't account for that window, and what's worse, I never heard back from the manager again. Ultimately, the delivery company brought our furniture just five days after the estimated date, which we appreciated--but the poor communication and lack of accountability from Burlington Furniture left a bad impression. We're happy with the product, but extremely disappointed in the service. Sadly, this experience has cost Burlington Furniture a customer.
