I am totally recommending Local Muscle to help you move. I moved from Ripton, Vt to South Burlington, Vt. Due to the apt rental start date and a family wedding ( leaving the next day for out of state), I was strapped to find a moving company. Kain came through with July 28, 12:45, fitting me in in the afternoon. They would send 2 drivers and an 18' box truck. I only inventoried a kitchen table, a sectional wall unit( IKEA), winter tires, 2 bikes, and about 50 banana boxes ( they stack really well and strong) when I put my deposit down. Then, when I really started packing, I had more, like an exercise bike in the basement, more boxes, some plastic bins, 2 small plant stand-type tables, etc.. When I called their office, I spoke with the Manager of the Burlington office to tell him about my extra items. Unfortunately, he made me very nervous saying that all my things might not fit in the truck and that they might not show up at 12:45, and that his drivers could not stay late because " you know, they have families to get back to". I actually had a dream that they would be show up at 3 pm. Even told him I would use my van...it held a lot of boxes! ( I neglected to say that I am a senior in pretty good shape, but hurt myself moving into where I was leaving....). Talk about stress. ...Luckily, I have a good friend with a truck that offered his help in case anything else got left behind. I considered going with another company and even called back my second choice. I was carefully reassured....But! All of my things were in a 10'X10' storage bay, so I called Steve at Ethan Allen Storage, Middlebury, to ask him....would the contents of a 10x 10 unit fit in an 18' box truck. He said " no problem". Phew! I hope that Manager does his homework about this comparison and others, and how he handles customers. Anyway, at 12:45 the truck came! To my surprise it was pretty big. This is where it gets even better! I am so so thankful for Trevor and Brian, two UVM seniors majoring in Athletics! They were great. Excellent customer service. So helpful, so considerate, so careful, so courteous is of where I wanted my boxes and things. They were just great. As I said, I would most definitely use this company again, except probably, on my end, have more in my inventory when I put my deposit down on the date. And, did I mention it was their truck and Logo is what attracted me to originally call? Yep! The website has a great video! Good advertising. read more

Poor communication. I called and asked for a quote and provided a specific move date. Andy said they had availability on the afternoon I needed, gave me a rough estimate, and then requested that I complete the online Estimate Form. The Estimate from requires a detailed inventory, so I went home that night and looked at all of my belongings, counted and made a list. next day, I used my work break to fill out the online form with as much detail as possible, which they encourage. Then I get a reply saying that the date is now booked. I understand they can't hold a date without a deposit, but if they knew that why didn't they say "By the way, you should do your best to just guess on the Estimate Form and fill it out ASAP because otherwise that slot might be taken." Good customer service would have been to warn me that times get taken really fast; I'm not in the moving industry, and this is a weekday I was requesting, so how would I know how busy they are? I rely on them as the experts to tell me they are that busy--and that even 24 hours later the requested date may be gone. Andy in no way expressed to me the urgency of the situation. Meanwhile I wasted my evening and lunch break on their online form, when I could have been making other calls. I am a single mother with no one to help me move, and this has put me in a really bad spot. Communication should have been clearer. Thanks for nothing, guys. Brendan replied to my complaint basically blaming me for not being quick enough, and as though I should know better that the beginning of the month is their busy season. Nope, not my job to know your industry. read more

Oh, my goodness! Local muscle far exceeded my expectations last summer. It was pouring rain all day and they (we) were soaking wet. Their boss said that they had to stop when it was really pouring so as to promote safety standards. So, they had to stop a lot that day, but they were really diligent about stopping the "clock" for these breaks to avoid overcharging us. Also, when we got to the new place and were offloading, they were having trouble fitting a giant desk through to the back of the house and I suggested a method. My way would have worked if they would have pushed the desk legs a little harder against the washing machine, but they wanted to avoid scuffing it. I think they knew my way wouldn't quite work; they do this all day every day and have this shit down to a science. Even though they didn't think it would work, the lead mover had the others help him try it . So, they did try it, and they did it WITHOUT the slightest hint of being patronizing or even gloating when it didn't work. I remember this so strongly because it made me realize how often I am braced for those reactions. For this interaction alone, I wish I'd had $500 apiece for each of the three guys. The next time we move, I'm not even going to price out other movers. The quality of service left me reminded of what customer service is meant to be. I know this sounds like an ad for them, but I don't think there was any way I could have been more impressed with this company. read more

To say I am pleased with my Local Muscle experience would be an understatement. I had an emergency situation where I needed to move to a new place immediately. I called Local Muscle and was impressed with their professional and courteous customer service skills right off the bat. Brandon was informative and answered every question I had. He has some of the best diplomacy skills I've ever seen and I have been working in customer service for years. I called them on a Thursday and they moved me on the next Monday as smoothly as possible. Their turnaround time with estimate forms is impressive, as I filled out my estimate form and got a reply email with a quote within 24 hours. The lasting impression of my experience was incredible as the two movers, Will and Will, showed up at my door cheery and ready to go exactly at the time of my appointment. They were competent, efficient, and pleasant - everything you want in movers who you're trusting with your most valuable possessions. Not only did they do their moving job well, but they offered a sense of tact while understanding my particular situation as I had to move from a dangerous situation into a safe space. I would highly recommend Local Muscle not only to support our local economy, but to experience incredibly competent services while you are in a time of stress that is moving. read more

We retained Local Muscle Movers to relocate the contents of a climate-controlled storage unit, in part to a second unit in the same facility, in part to unit in another facility, and the rest to the dump. The two young men, BS and DR, who arrived were easygoing, friendly, and very energetic. They never needed to be told anything twice, despite the unusually detailed procedure required to separate items as noted above, and never wasted a minute. My partner and I also had the assistance of a young friend. When the van was loaded, I gave BS and DR my keys for the new facility and sent them there, where we'd rejoin them after taking our friend home. Just as we arrived at the new facility, we got a call from them. We pulled up to see that everything had been installed precisely as requested, as neatly as could be imagined. Local Muscle's rates are the most reasonable we found, and you pay only for the actual time spent on the job (plus a small flat charge for truck mileage). Their service is flawless. From first phone call to locking the door at the new facility, it was a pleasure to work with them. We'll never hire anyone else. read more

I scheduled local muscle movers for a January move and was really pleased with the professionalism and excellence of my movers Mike and Eric. From the time they introduced themselves at my door they communicated clearly with me, and worked really well together moving my apartment while also being respectful of my roommate and her belongings. They moved me in to a storage unit and were very fast and efficient but also considerate of any requests I had for accessing my unit and belongings. I am very thankful for Mike and Eric and will be requesting them for my next move. Communication with the different office staff did not seem consistent; particularly regarding the fb booking offer. I was given different information from staff and was disappointed to be given a hard time about receiving a discount. I eventually was provided the discount and am very grateful for the staff working with me in the end. Great company overall, I would recommend them to any of my friends and family. read more

Local Muscle provided efficient, effective, and friendly assistance when we needed help moving into our first home. After having moved three times in one year, and remembering the fatigue and frustration that comes with diy moving, we knew we needed to hire helping hands when we purchased our first home. With the whirlwind of work involved with closing procedures, we deeply appreciated the ease with which we were able to schedule a team of movers for our ideal date and time. It's also worth mentioning that, with all the complex fees associated with moving through other companies, Local Muscle gave us a clean and easy to understand breakdown of their services. We even ended up helping out with loading and unloading, and came under budget! They were so helpful that I recommended them to my business owners for our upcoming move. I am genuinely looking forward to working with this great team again soon, and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of some local muscle. read more

Awesome! I may be repeating myself as I tried to post a review earlier but didn't seem to post. But I really wanted to give these guys an A++. I have a really tricky 3rd floor walk up in downtown Burlington VT. Ridiculously narrow entryway, two very long and awkward stairways, unexpected twisty corners, etc. I was moving my stuff via a uHaul and was sold by the fact they offered unloading services. Before the move they helped me figure out how to reserve the parking meters in front of the building (no other parking at the site). They also kept in touch on the day updating when the crew would arrive. When they got there they were professional, friendly, respectful, efficient and fast. They did the impossible and got my couch through an area that was all but impossible moving it millimeter by millimeter until it got through (with zero damage). I don't plan to move again any time soon, but I will hire these guys in a second when the time comes. read more

These gentlemen were absolutely amazing! I was in a frantic rush to move out of my condo due to some water damage that was set to be repaired by our contractor. I made a detailed inventory list and had some very heavy items (a huge solid-wood antique desk and old, sleeper sofa). They charged a very reasonable heavy-item fee and were so efficient, courteous, and overall just top-notch professionals. I received a call a few days prior to my scheduled move date to ensure that my inventory list was still accurate and they allowed me to make modifications to include a sleeper sofa which I had initially overlooked. The process of moving out for a substantive home remodel was extremely stressful and I was just ever so grateful to have one less thing to worry about. I would recommend Local Muscle Movers without hesitation and intend to hire them to move everything back in once the remodel is complete. Well done, guys! Thank you. read more

Excellent all the way around. My husband and I used LMM to move into our first house about a month ago. We had 5 years of stuff from our apartment that we needed to move. The other movers we wanted to use were booked for the only convenient day we had open. I emailed these guys and they were prompt with the response and held the day for us until we could call with a form of payment for the deposit. They were great about the estimate process. On the day of they arrived a few minutes early and were able to maneuver their truck into a very tight driveway. Our crew consisted of two people Zach? and young women I forget her name. They were great about packing the truck with our belongings and we had no issues with damage or breakage. They were both professional and really hardworking. They even got us packed up and moved in under the estimated time. It was money well spent. I highly recommend them. Thanks for the help! read more

We used Local Muscle for a big move last week --- relocating both our nonprofit organization's offices as well as our apartment from Burlington VT to Boston MA. I can't imagine having a better moving experience! The man who came out to give us a quote was professional and very thorough. He even helped us with questions about moving artwork, insurance and every other nerve-wracking detail we could come up with. The quote came in higher than other moving companies locally, but I have no doubt the other companies would have ended up charging us just as much and wouldn't have provided such great service. We knew we were in good hands from the very beginning. The guys who moved us -- Matt, Paul & Zach -- were professional, friendly and laid-back. During what was a stressful time for us, these guys made us feel totally supported and at ease. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Local Muscle! read more

I had an amazing experience with this company. From the beginning Kain provided excellent and clear communications about the process, pricing, and timelines. There was an appropriate level of communication including the day of the move. Matt and Ray were my movers and they couldn't have been nicer (or faster!). They were thorough in understanding what was being moved (not everything in the house was going with me) and asked questions if they weren't sure. They loaded and unloaded the truck in what seemed like record time. There was a travel fee as I was moving outside out side of Burlington (to S. Burlington) but the cost was reasonable so I didn't mind. When unpacking there were a few items that were broken by they were due to my packing (ie: putting class on the bottom of a storage bin probably means it's going to break!). I can't thank this team enough for their efforts. read more

There are not a lot of movers to choose from in Vermont (I live full-time in CT where there are so many options) , so I was a little apprehensive about the move I needed....taking most of the contents of our seasonal lake camp to a storage unit, so we can tear down and rebuild. The cabin is on a hillside and there are at least 33 steps up and down. From the very beginning, Local Muscle Movers was responsive and helpful...and they stayed that way right until I closed the door to the storage unit. Sadly, I don't know the names of the young guys who did the work, but they were polite, engaging and hard workers!!! They didn't waste a minute of time. I was a little concerned as to whether everything would fit into the storage unit, but they miraculously got everything in as if they were constructing a puzzle...all neat and tidy. I can't recommend these guys highly enough! read more

Evan, Randy and Leroy were AWESOME! They wasted no time, were highly professional and organized and were incredibly careful with all our belongings. They took special care to the sentimental and antique items I noted, offering extra wrapping and really thoughtful placement in the truck. I trusted these guys 100% - and EVERYthing arrived exactly as expected. They were respectful of my floor (putting down blankets on my my new wood floors!) and mindful of walls, door frames, etc. I can't say enough good things about this team - they showed up right on time, delivered way more service than I expected and treated all my stuff as if it was the most valuable stuff in the world. They even offered to help me rearrange my furniture when it got to the new house! They were worth Every.Single.Dollar. read more

We used Local Muscle to move my daughter's belongings out of her apartment in Burlington and into a storage unit in Essex. It was a busy time of year (after graduation) and I was making the arrangements from Florida. From the first contact to the last delivered box I was impressed with the professionalism, communication and organization. The movers were friendly and efficient. They explained the process and their policies before they started the clock and they finished in less than the estimated time. When unloading the items into the storage unit I was very impressed with the way they organized them for easy access and kept items that could be damaged by moisture off the floor. I felt the price was very reasonable for the quality of service received. Highly recommend. read more

We were over the moon happy with the services we received from Local Muscle. On the hottest day of the year, BS and DR moved all of our furniture and belongings from a home, to an apartment complex. In addition, they rearranged furniture being left in the existing home. They were friendly, professional, incredibly fast, and impressively efficient. They took direction with ease, and without complaint. I must emphasize again that it was probably 98 degrees with the humidity. Their determination never wavered. Their prices are very, very reasonable, and they come with all necessary moving equipment. I would highly recommend this wonderful company, and if you get the chance, ask for BS and DR. Thanks again, Local Muscle Movers! read more

This was my 3d time using Local Muscle and I am so grateful to have found them! Professional, efficient, thrifty-they have it all! This time, Leroy and Evan handled an office move with 3 drop-off spots. Leroy helped on one of our prior moves and I felt like I had a friend of the family back helping, albeit one who is a lot stronger than any of us. Evan reviewed all the paperwork and potential costs and issues thoroughly and the move -even with stairs, stops and heavy filing cabinets-was done smoothly and at a lower cost than anticipated. Call Brendan if you are moving. He will give you an accurate estimate and cover all bases, including making sure the truck can park easily to save money! You won't regret using this company!!! read more
