Slate is definitely one of those stores. I stopped in on Christmas Eve just to browse around and I wish I could have bought everything in the place! It is a pretty hipster little store, and everything inside would be both useful to have in your home and serve as a conversation starter with guests. The items are unique, interesting, and high quality. There are kitchen gadgets, bar cart fixings, home decor items, greeting cards, jewelry...the list goes on. It's a great store and fits well with the Church Street aesthetic.

After comparing prices, we found that Burlington Furniture was quoting us $2,000 more than a California company, even with shipping and assembly included. Still, we wanted to support a local business, so we returned to Burlington Furniture, and they agreed to match the competitor's price. We were given an estimated delivery date of 4/30. When we followed up, we were surprised to hear that our furniture wouldn't arrive for nearly two more months. We understand that delays happen, but we were frustrated by the lack of communication. I called the manager to get clarity and was told that the employee who gave us that update was no longer with the company. She promised to follow up--which she did--but she didn't provide a new delivery timeline. Instead, she told us the order wasn't actually delayed and that deliveries typically arrive two weeks after the estimated date. It's unclear why the original estimate wouldn't account for that window, and what's worse, I never heard back from the manager again. Ultimately, the delivery company brought our furniture just five days after the estimated date, which we appreciated--but the poor communication and lack of accountability from Burlington Furniture left a bad impression. We're happy with the product, but extremely disappointed in the service. Sadly, this experience has cost Burlington Furniture a customer.

I see how laid back Hannon Home Center is and the inventory they stock and the service they provide and it leaves me scratching my head why people deal with the big box stores. Both Rhonda and Bill are nice, easy to deal with and I really enjoy being able to buy locally. I'm very pleased they are so close, I think they run a first class business.

And they did not want to refund the appliances that were too large. Do not use this company- they are dishonest and deceitful.

Highly recommend but very very busy on Saturday mornings and parking can be slightly challenging. It's sooooo worth visiting because they had anything and everything under the sun- I spent $20 on new athletic wear for my triathalon training and boxing gloves, books and a brand new stitch toy for my daughter. You CANNOT go wrong here. I love love love this place and it's all for a great cause!

I just tried to donate and the young guy who was handling my stuff kept saying there's mold on…read morethat! A chalkboard that had some chalk on it, a painting that he said was moldy was actually the design, a frame with glass that had some snowflakes on it. etc, etc. the store is dirty and sad. This is unfortunate because the organization is a great one and is certainly deserving of good donations. I will never go there again. The Williston store is way better!
