Really nice beach for everything from snorkeling, swimming, hanging out, relaxing. Just get there early to get a parking spot!

Chickens. Lots and lots of chickens and roosters and chicks at this beach. I've never been to a beach that had this many!!!! Be aware! PARKING- come early if you don't wanna park a mile away. Also watch where your parking make sure it's not in a no parking area, your car will get ticketed. It's easily one of the most beautiful beaches with the mountains as a backdrop. Apparently, the water is rougher in the winter and the lifeguards have a sign when it's dangerous to go out and swim... The sign also lets you know if you can snorkel, if it says don't do it... Don't do it because the currents are strong. There are lots of cool rocks in the water to get on and take pics with and pretend you're a mermaid. Also, if you're planning to lounge and tan on the sand, bring something other than your phone because there is NO cell SERVICE at all on that beach which is great if you're trying to unplug and unwind. This beach was amazingly beautiful. Realize, we were here in early February so we were not here to snorkel. The tides were too high to snorkel but we weren't planning to do that anyway. This beach is quintessential Kauai. You can see the beginnings of the Na Pali Coast to the west, there are mountains just to the south, and, of course, the beach. Just so beautiful. The trees provide shade and additional beauty also. There is a cave. What more could you want? We also saw a monk seal on this beach. read more

Ke'e Beach was wonderful and a perfect spot to take a dip after doing a 4 mile hike on the Kalalua Trail. Be warned there is no place to eat or drink here so come prepared, especially if you are doing a hike beforehand. My wife and I snorkeled here and would highly recommend it! The coral is only ok but there was a huge variety of colorful fish, some massive schools, and the best part were the sea turtles. We lucked out and had upwards of 10 turtles in the bay, some of them absolutely massive. They let us swim right up next to them (with us being respectful obviously) and were gentle giants, often traveling in groups of three or four. It was wonderful being able to swim along with them and watch them eat. We also snorkeled Tunnels Beach and Hanalei Bay...Ke'e was our favorite experience across the three. read more

I really like this beach. It's a lot more busy now than the last few times I've been there over the years. But one thing; YOU are a VISITOR! Respect the ocean! I saw some major foul plays today involving tourists STANDING on the reef. Understand: this is not ok!! Neither is swimming in too of the reef and touching everything. Neither is pushing off the reef with your hands or feet. My gosh! If you don't have any respect for the nature you came to visit then stay at the damn resort and disrespect their pool or something. I've never seen this on any trip to Hawaii before today. Parking is scarce here. But worth the wait. read more

The entire north side of the island had really rough waves when we visited but Ke'e stayed relatively calm and swimmable. Some of the best snorkeling here-- so many colorful fish I hadn't seen elsewhere! It is a small beach so it can get crowded. There's plenty of shaded sandy area if you get tired of sunbathing. Beautiful views of the mountains to your left... so serene. Parking can get tough because there are popular hiking trailheads right at the parking lot so get there early. If you have to park on the street, remember to make sure your car is entirely on the dirt or you will get ticketed! read more

The caves near the parking lot are cool, but too dangerous to enter. The beach was amazing, just like all the other beaches in kaua'i, but you have to drive 2hrs to get here from the southwest shores. Not much sunshine most of the way due to the mountains. The poor rating is really in comparison to local kauai beaches, but excellent compared to anywhere else. It had some cool trees, parking was a pain, and we almost damaged the rental car. Lots of people at the popular beach. The reef was shallow but had potential. It's really all about the drive, because all beaches in Kaua'i are amazing, and why drive 2hrs when there's one 5minutes away. read more

There's no question that Ke'e is jaw-droppingly beautiful and there is no other way to get to the only-in-Kaua'i Kalalau Trail. But sadly, Ke'e is being totally over-run with too many people. Get there real early or you can forget parking. It's now a total zoo. There is so much that is fantastic on Kaua'i, especially the north shore, that you can still have fun at another location. I would not be surprised if the county started a shuttle service from Haena Beach Park in the future because it's turning into a mess. read more

Ke'e Beach is the epitome of what a paradise beach should look, taste and feel like. Perfect sandy white beaches with canopies of bright emerald green leaves behind, a view of the gorgeous jagged mountains of the Napali coast to your left, and of course, straight ahead the crystal clear blue waters of Ke'e with tropical fish swimming inches away from you. This is (quite literally) where the road ends. I miss you, Kauai! read more

This beach is the end of the road - literally. You cannot drive around the island any further from here. There is a great hike heading along the beach into the hills from here (look for the signs) which is very popular. The beach itself is great for body surfing, hanging out and people watching. You get a nature feeling that is less resort and more visceral. the mountains jutting up beach left there is a closeness and vigorousness to this beach. I imagine there are times when there are storms and you would not want to be on it. But it has always been perfect when we have been here. It's one of the must experience beaches if you are visiting Kauai for the first time. read more

Kind of a mixed bag here. We've been here a few times, and when conditions are right, this beach is our favorite place to snorkel in Kauai. Unfortunately, when the tradewinds pick up and the water is not so calm, then conditions are less than ideal for snorkeling. This beach is literally at land's end so it takes some time to get there (about 15-20 minutes past Princeville). Fortunately, the drive has beautiful, idyllic scenary and there are plenty of stops along the way. read more

Very pretty beach, that's ordinarily great for swimming and snorkeling. But it was entirely closed when we stopped by in the morning. And when we came back after hiking the Kalalau trail, hoping to do some snorkeling while waiting for the rest of our group to finish, it was still closed to snorkeling, due to strong currents. read more

I've been here twice, once in the late summer, and again just last week (early Jan). Definitely 5 stars in the summer. You can't ask for better snorkeling, and it's a great place to flop down after hiking Kalalau trail. In the winter, however, it's a bit rough, and the snorkeling gets murky. The southern beaches seem to be better then. Otherwise, it's Ke'e all the way. read more

OK so you're on Kauai, which is really cool. And you like to snorkel, which is even cooler. But there are better beaches to snorkel then Ke'e, unless you demand still waters with an easy access. I suppose that my experience with Ke'e is tarnished a bit by the fact that I went to the beach on a Wednesday afternoon in July. The beach was rather busy, but there were still quite a few fish in the water to see once we swam out. The kicker is you're pretty restricted on what you will see, as the reef pretty well lies between the beach and the ocean - so you can only see one side of the reef and the fish which swim in. As the signs on the beach tell you, you need to keep your distance from the reef to protect it. There are plenty of great snorkeling beaches on Kauai - some of them you drive right by on your way to Ke'e, others are on the other side of Princeville. Don't be afraid to go find them! Even better, ask a local which ones have good conditions on the day you choose to go out. read more

This is absolutely one of my favorite beaches in Hawaii. Snorkeling is wonderful, and when the ocean is calm enough to go outside the reef (through the channel on the left), there are even more fish, sea turtles, etc. Also my favorite place in the world to watch a sunset... Walk along the beach to the east to the point that sticks out a little ways into the water and the view of the sun setting directly beside the cliffs of Napali is AMAZING!! Only downsides would be limited parking and sometimes crowded. read more

Ke'e is a pleasant beach to spend some time on but an utter disappointment in terms of snorkeling. Sure, you can see some fish and a turtle and maybe that's really enough to curl some people's toes, but if you've even snorkeled in the Caribbean, or any reef where the coral has color and there are more than three different types of fish, prepare to be severely disappointed. read more

We went here to snorkel and the protected bay is ideal conditions with the reef providing protection from most all wave action. Unfortunately, there were very few fish which was quite a disappointment. Lifeguard and restroom/shower facilities are a plus. Some shade available. If you luck out and can park in the parking lot, beach is just a short walk. read more

Awesome beach if you can handle the long drive and sketchy parking! The reef is full of fish, great snorkeling. I had a 20 lb omilu just cruise right up to me here, and there are plenty akule hanging out in the channel. Only bummer is I had a 5' reef shark harrass me and follow me back up over the reef after he stole the uhu I had just speared for lunch! read more

This was one of the best beaches I've gone to while in Kauai, mainly bc i learned to snorkel here and saw sea turtles! It's a beautiful beach that's enclosed by some reefs making it safer for non-swimmers like me to snorkel safely (with the accompaniament of a floatie, some flippers and a strong grip to my bf) =P We saw a lot of cool fish including the hawaiian state fish, name incredibly hard to pronounce (something along the lines of humohumonukunukuapua'a), tropical fishes too numerous to name, sea turtles (esp if you go out past the reefs but waves get pretty rough) and even an octupus inside the reefs! It was so nice here and there's a long ways to snorkel so you could spend hours in the water checking out all the fish if you're a trooper and like being in the water =) read more

I was not impressed with the beach itself, it was full with tourists, waves too big to swim. But the trail on the top of the hill (left side of the beach, no sign) was really stunning! We did wait for the sunset there, so romantic! read more

I love this beach. It is so pretty - as much of the beaches here are. Good place to snorkel and swim. Protected by the reef, so the waves don't get big in here, if they even make it in at all. Lifeguard on duty anyway. It is so refreshing to jump in after hiking Hanakapi'ai. Gorgeous. Parking sucks nowadays with all the tourists. But there is an overflow lot up the street. A great place to swim/relax after hiking the Kalalau trail. The reef blocks any huge waves so we were able to swim in fairly calm waters. This was definitely my favorite beach on Kauai and I recommend it highly! read more

Yes, parking is a big pain, but the payoff is worth it. This place manages to feel remote even when busy, a great beach and if you walk down the sand a bit you get your own stretch to hang out on. We saw a monkseal here which made my day. The drive here is part of the fun. You gotta check it out if you are in Kauai! read more

This is one of those beaches you dream about or only see in movies. It's ahhhmazing. If I die and go to heaven, I want Ke'e Beach to be there. There are lots of visitors to this beach. I still don't care. Hands down one of my favorite beaches in the world. Snorkeling was great! read more

A beautiful beach for swimming, sunning, and cooling off after a long (or short) jaunt along the Na'Pali Coast. The only slight downside is that it is usually a bit on the bustling side, as the secret of its beauty and seductive charm is not a secret at all. There are other luscious beaches on the North Shore (some very close by) that are more isolated, which I prefer. But they cannot replace Ke'e, which is the only place you can see the silhouette of the cliffs of the coast fading away into the background as you look to the West. read more

The journey to the end of the road ended at this super pretty and mellow beach. There are huge slabs of rock on the sand that are moss covered and really pretty. The moss feels like fuzzy fur bedroom slippers beneath your feet, but it smelled kind of gross. The backdrop of the beach is the start of the Napali coast and the Napali coast trails and it is just absolutely stunning. There was a seal just sunning himself on the beach when we got there - it was super cute. I don't think this is the best place to play, but there are life guards and limited parking spots. It's a definite must see on the north shore of Kauai. read more

Great for swimming and snorkeling. And the sunset is gorgeous. You can buy a fresh coconut for $5 from a guy and he cuts a whole in it so you can drink the yummy juice. I highly recommend this! Parking is easy and plenty of it. And there is a trail you can take called the Hanakapi'ai falls trail. It's a great hike. 2 miles to a gorgeous beach and 4 miles to the waterfalls. read more

Great beach, great views, GREAT hiking on Kalalau Trail. A must see if you're headed to Kauai!

12 of us visited this beach on 6/21/14 and had a great time. The beach is past Tunnels and Haena State Park. It's basically the beach at the end of the road! There are bathrooms and water to wash off your feet. The parking is limited, so as with most public beaches - arrive early. We actually arrived after an early lunch and the lot was full but there was street parking down the way. This beach has some shade at the top of the beach - but you will likely be visited by local chickens there! The snorkeling here is great - especially for beginners. There is lots of coral and we saw many types of fish here. My brother and son went a bit further out and saw a turtle and eel! At certain tide levels the coral can be "high" as my daughter says and you have to be careful not to touch it while swimming above it. Here we also snorkeled with a whole school of about 30 -50 fish of all types which was amazing!! read more
