I was absolutely convinced I had a major drainage design problem…read more My underground downspout lines drain to the street ditch, and after seeing water back up around a riser pipe, I was certain the issue was a site engineering flaw. In my mind, there were only a few possibilities: the lines needed to be re-pitched, the ditch connection needed to be lowered, or the whole system was somehow hydraulically inadequate. I had this drainage system installed just last fall, so the idea that it could already be clogged seemed impossible. Enter A+ Gutters & Drains. They came out the very same day I called. After I walked them through my highly sophisticated theory of grades, elevations, pitch, and drainage design, we headed to the discharge point at the street ditch. The technician took one look and smiled. "There really shouldn't be a glued-on end cap with a tight grill on it. These tend to back up and clog." "No way. Not already," I replied. "Would you like me to check?" he asked. A few minutes later, after attempting to pry it off with a screwdriver, the cap ultimately had to be cut off with a Sawzall. What was waiting inside? Inches of roof shingle granules, debris, and enough gunk to completely prove my engineering theory wrong. In about five minutes, A+ solved the mystery that I had mentally escalated into a full-scale drainage reconstruction project. To their credit, they graciously cut off the other problematic caps as well and explained why they were destined to clog. No upsell. No unnecessary work. Just an honest diagnosis and a simple fix. As I stood there processing the fact that my "catastrophic drainage failure" was really just a blocked outlet, the technician smiled and said, "Bring on the rain." And with that, he was off. Was my ego slightly bruised? Absolutely. Did A+ save me from chasing an expensive problem that didn't actually exist? Also absolutely. I only wish I had called them first. From now on, A+ Gutters & Drains will be my first call for anything related to gutters, drainage, or water management. Fast response, honest expertise, and a team willing to save customers from their own overthinking. That's a combination that's hard to beat.

My gutter was backing up due to a downspout not being able to drain. This was a result of ground…read moresettling causing damage to the underground drain line where that downspout flowed. The estimator recommended replacing the existing gutters around the entire house with a larger size ($10-12K) - completely ignoring the root cause of the issue. As this expense was outside our budget, his recommendation was to call back in a few years when I had enough money saved to pay for it!!! An immediate fix was needed... he reluctantly agreed to provide an estimate to relieve the affected gutter by adding a new downspout in a different location to connect with the underground drain line where it was flowing properly. I contacted two other gutter & drain companies and amazingly their first advice was to do the latter (add a downspout)... and both quotes came in less than half the cost I was quoted from A+ Gutters & Drains. Providing a cost-effective resolution was not in their best interest. Be aware!

I had shopped around the first time I used them and found them to have the most value for your money. Therefore, I did not bother the second time and just went ahead and hired them. We received a lot of compliments from our neighbors in regards to a nicer, cleaner exterior of our home and some ended up using their services also for their power washing needs. I love supporting local businesses and the owner of this business is just that. They are super friendly and were efficient in their work. We know now who to hire for our exterior home cleaning. One thing I can suggest is to perhaps have the option of doing add on services. For example, have a price for adding a patio or deck wash separately. Although I preferred our patio getting cleaned, I didn't choose that option because it was more expensive and included things our home does not have like a deck.

Updated 10-05-2026:…read more Was the work completed? No. Did that stop them from filing a lien? Also no. The workers were great - they got in, they did most of the work. But then they missed the higher up gutter and didn't connect it to the lower gutter (something specifically called out on their FIRST VISIT and discussion of work to be done, and a FOLLOW UP EMAIL where they said "yes, we will do that work.") Plain and simple, it's a gamble that you'll get what you paid for, but at this price, I had bigger gutters/downspouts and leaf guards added for less than other companies wanted for just a leaf guard. But the inability to complete the contract and then demand payment when I can't afford a lawyer? Does NOT leave a favorable feeling. Update: so they were paid in full - after the lien was filed, before their work was completed. Now they're demanding $200 extra to remove the lien, saying "it's in the attached invoice" - which it is not. So they filed a lien BEFORE work was completed, they were paid IN FULL before work was completed, and now are hassling me over $200 that they claim is in the "attached invoice" (hint: it is NOT in the invoice!) So - I'm going to say "not worth the hassle" and seek someone else. Maybe I'll get it resolved this year, who knows.

Two yrs. later, same company and the owner sent some kid who appeared to be 18-20-just my best guess. (missed about 1/3 of the home-especially the top areas.) Then....THE final straw. I had an asphalt company get sealer all over my garage flooring since they did the driveway just before an angled serious downpour which washed the black sealer into the garage flooring. (it covered about 1/4 of the concrete in spots.) I bought a very expensive commercial stripping agent and called Preferred Pressure Washing for him to use the stripper with his power washer. He agreed to "give it a shot" for 100.00, but could not make me any promises about the results. I figured that was fair, and worth the 100.00 risk. (before moving into a 900.00 diamond grinding process.) He did not get a SINGLE droplet removed. OK. We had an agreement. So, what is the issue?! Well, get ready folks! B4 he started the work he stepped onto my porch & spotted my elderly neighbor getting her mail. She is old enough to be his mother. He literally yelled at the top of his lungs, "Hey do you know this guy?!" (meaning me of course.) She yelled back, "Yes, he is our favorite neighbor!" He continued the yelling across the street and screamed, "Hey maam will you come over here?!" I started to freak out at how rude a man could be to ask an elderly woman to do this instead of walking over himself and wondered what the heck he wanted from her anyway! He remained firmly planted with his arms crossed and said, "Maam, I just want you to know we agreed on a price of 100.00 regardless of the outcome of my work." She just looked perplexed, confused and quite shocked. I told her very quietly and calmly I was sorry for his behavior and asked her to go ahead and go home. He went about his "1/2 arsed" efforts and did not remove a droplet. Of course I had the 100.00 check already written in my pocket. REMEMBER, this was after paying him in full while on my property for TWO prior vinyl siding jobs. Why would he call her over??!!! I just talked to her the other day about it, (since her grandson was pressure washing her home & it brought up the horrible memory of Paul Reed) and she said of course she remembered it very well but still had no clue what he wanted from her. I said, "Neither do I!!!" A court witness maybe in case I did not pay him?? Could he hope to have a court subpoena her for a 100.00 case? How absurd. If I were dishonest or a liar, I COULD have refused payment and said I gave him 100.00 cash and not paid him a cent. (of course, I am a man of my word and gave him the 100.00 check.) WHAT A JOKE OF A COMPANY. STAY AWAY. HE WILL TRY TO MAKE A FOOL OF YOU IN FRONT OF YOUR NEIGHBORS AND LACKS TRUST IN PEOPLE. EVEN PEOPLE WHO ALWAYS PAID WHILE ON SITE & IN FULL EVERY TIME IN THE PAST.
