Been going here for 20 years, they have done great for me. They do have online banking and its been helpful in tracking everything. I have don't have many complaints. The place has great parking. DO NOT OPEN A BUSINESS ACCOUNT WITH THEM! My husband opened one recently and every check he's deposited has had a hold of over a week put on it. How is he supposed to buy materials for jobs, pay bills and employees when they are holding his income hostage? We switched from Chase...guess we're switching back. I haven't been a Kearny client for too long. I always banked with big banks "Chase, BOA, and the worst out of all TD bank" I joined Kearny bank about 7 months ago. I have never bank at a more convenient bank before. I have branch managers cell number and can contact him with any requests. Anthony is a true gentleman and would go way out of his way to make sure all is his clients are happy. I am seating here and they know everyone who walks in by first name. I have been a commercial customer for the past ten years and this bank has been constantly changing everything, they just completely changed the way they make their statements and it has become so confusing to understand. If you want to open an account here, don't, I am just saving your time. The people that may work at this location are helpful but the upper management is absolutely terrible and unaccommodating. Constant problems with this bank. One or another. For example, I got absolutely weird response today. I always paid my bills online in my business account. Somehow today web page asked me to enroll to Bill Pay instead of to open Bill Pay page. It's a nonsense!!!!!!!! What's a reason to enroll again if I was enrolled from day one and paid my bills every month. I decided to follow. After I spent 15 min and did some tricks it finally opened the page to pay my bills. They do have a t.v to watch while you wait, why they get 1 star as opposed to none. If you have an acct here you may be treated semi pleasantly, if you don't then expect nasty tellers and nasty managers to back them up. Have accts in 2 other banks, no issues, pleasant, helpful. Here you are treated with scorn at a whim. The way to attract new business it to be helpful to customers who bank elsewhere. Try to earn their business. I have had accounts with Kearny ever since it was West Orange savings bank. Then when it became West Essex I stuck with them and was always happy. The Kearny bought them out and the service seemed to really go down hill. Then while I was no longer happy with them I moved to CT so there definitely was no longer a reason for me to keep these accounts, so I called them up to close them. They instructed me that my account balance was "XXXXX" and to make out a check for that amount to myself, deposit it in my new bank, and once my account balance is zero they automatically close it. I did as they instructed and proceded to get a really nice bill in the mail for $75 dollars. Aparently if it goes to zero they close it, but my $0.50 balance (once they gave me that months interest) didn't close it. They charged me $30 for going below my required balance, putting me into the negative, for which they proceded to charge me $45 for going below zero. I had to go back and forth with them on the phone for a week to get them to reverse these charges. What an awful method and awful service!!!!! read more

They will NOT return my e-mail (that i know they received because i clicked on response to their e-mail -twice). i tried the contact form on my online account. That was ignored as well. I have a small issue that the girls are too young to properly address. They are all pleasant enough on the phone. But i guess you can't actually "need" service. read more

Kearny Bank is horrible!!!! they have the worst customer service and are so rude to their clients. They treat their clients like they're idiots when an issue comes up with an account. Multiple times have I called customer service to resolve a problem with my debit card which they keep messing up. I've gotten 8 replacement cards in the past few months because they either stop working or they spell my name wrong on the card!! they have no idea what they're doing in their company nor do they know how to help or fix the problem you're having. I still have yet to have a working debit card to access my money, now I have to drive out of my way cause I don't that close to a branch to get my own money out. Lets not to forget to mention the extreme disrespect I've received from their customer service employees. Absolutely fed up with this company. I will be leaving this bank and talking to anybody who is superior enough to fix this issue with their bank. Please save yourselves the trouble and don't get involved with this bank. If you deposit a check greater than $5,000 they put a hold on the balance. They make you wait 8 days before the balance is available. It was a check from a local bank. I won't make this mistake again. read more

I've been a Kearny Federal Savings customer since 1997. They have always been helpful and friendly, and I'm on first-name terms with the Branch manager and all of the associates. Some years back, I had a problem with an eBay seller in Wales, UK. Having received my teller cheque (as good as cash, right?), drawn on Kearny Federal, the seller assumed she had me where she wanted and proceeded to change the conditions of the sale. When I complained to my KFS branch manager, Melissa, I was told she could reverse the teller cheque, even after the eBay seller had cashed it. Armed with this knowledge, I explained to the eBay vendor she would either comply with the original terms or refund all monies. She chose the latter. I don't even know where to begin. Bar far the worse bank I've ever dealt with but stuck with them for as long as I did because I work in NYC and can never go in person because of my schedule -a few years ago while trying to commute home I tried to refill my metro card. I got an error message so I went to take cash out. When my transaction was canceled numerous times I called the bank. They told me my account was frozen because of a breach in the system and that they would send me a new card in 5 days. I told them my problem and they said there was nothing they could do. I ended up begging strangers for cash to get home -I was going to a wedding and while trying to take cash out for the card my account was frozen again due to a breach. There was no warning what so ever and found out when I called. I had to write an "IOU" in the card and my sister used her credit card to check me into the hotel -recently I saw a $50 "service" charge in my transaction without any explanation. I emailed 3 times with no response. A month later I received a letter saying I did too many transactions (6 withdrawals in a month) -the online banking website/app is down 50% of the time You're better off hiding your money under your mattress than banking here read more

This bank is the WORST. Never sends letter letting you now you have a CD maturing until well after the fact. When I brought notice in showing the Assistant Branch Manager at Pine Brook location that the letter sent was dated 2 weeks after it came due she wouldn't even look at it . She couldn't care less. Nasty and Rude . DO NOT deal with this bank. I had another account that went dormant even though I was doing online transactions. They say that online activity does not qualify as activity. Nine times out of ten the ATM machines don't work. Right before the Montville branch closed (gee I wonder why it closed) I went in to close a CD that came due. The woman who helped me had piles of mess scattered all over her desk with other customers personal information in clear sight for me to view. My mother got another customers statement mailed to her. When she called to complain they just blamed it on the company who does their mailing, again they couldn't care less. following is an edited version of an email i've sent to kearny corporate and local. approx. 8 people. i have NEVER received a response to anything my entire time banking there. then i had an issue where a resolution was mandatory. i had to file a complaint with DOBI. (department of banking and insurance). kearny finally responded. but that woman stopped communicating before resolving one of my problems. she went on vacation. that was about a month ago. my e-mail: I had an account at the ***** location. I kept over $20,000.00 in it consistently. I have never had such poor customer service, especially from a bank who has so much of my money. Following are my experiences: - Around September, 2018, I called and explained to the woman who answered the phone that I was unable to utilize my debit card 10 times (one of the criteria of earning the 3% interest). I think I had used it 9 times, and of course met the other criteria. I explained that I had been seriously injured and was in a wheelchair and wondered if the bank would honor the interest rate for the one month, considering my hardship. She said she would call me back but did not. - I called again and reached the "manager". I repeated my story. Her response was no. "We will not help you with this, because if we do that for you we would have to do that for every person in your predicament." Oh my god. - I sent her a couple of emails asking for the name of a superior but I didn't hear back. - I sent several pieces of correspondence through my on line account under "contact us". Never, once, have I had a response. - I did a review on "yelp". Somebody responded! He/she left an email address. I sent a couple of emails. Never received a response. - I said in several emails to several people that if I didn't get a response, I would close my account. I never received a response. - I walked into the branch a couple of weeks ago to close my account. Clerk asked why and I told her some portion of the above. She apologized. - Manager was there. I asked her if she had been receiving my emails. She barked at me that I should go look at her computer. Oh my god. You have a branch manager debating a customer, and inviting a customer to sit at her desk and look at her computer. In a bank!!! Imagine the information I could have collected. When I declined, she walked off in a huff. - Before I left I informed her that her response to me was unprofessional. Again, she barked at me to help myself to her computer. Oh my god. I said "unprofessional response #2". That really pissed her off and she threw her arms up in the air. Everybody saw it. It boggles the mind to think she's a leader... in a business that is normally all about customer service. I then took my money to split it up between 2 competing banks. What interested me was the greeting skills and the tellers and managers at both banks could not be nicer. That was before they knew how much money I was depositing.They said hello. They made eye contact. They smiled. They were over-the-top nice. I NEVER received that at Kearny. Stay away from this bank. They have very poor customer service and are unable to work with you. I had an overdraft fee AND a deposit on the same day to correct the overdraft and the managers refused to refund the overdraft fee even though I deposited the money the same day as the overdraft. "We just don't refund overdrafts. It's not something we do" I was told by the manager of the Sea Girt branch. Since the money was deposited the same day as the overdraft, good customer service should work with me and refund the fee. They are a local bank but act as impersonal and callous as any big national bank. read more
