After careful reflection of my horrific experience with Keane Studios where I was talked down to by the owners who also used vulgar language and became verbally abusive to me in the presence of my minor son, I felt I must provide a review so others will go elsewhere to take senior pictures.
Over summer 2012, we received numerous mailings indicating great savings if we set an appointment before the end of August to take senior pictures. We did so and arrived ten minutes early to my son's portrait sitting. We waited almost 45 minutes, No apologies for the delay, We asked about the specials and were told we could not receive them. We found out that the special is somewhat of a scam. and their pricing was actually outrageously high. I was of course disappointed. We were told that although their pricing was a bit high, if we did not like the photos from sitting, we could take additional photos in a second sitting for free. The gentleman who took the pictures seemed OK but was not what I had expected since my two older girls got way more attention and with way more poses.
When we returned to view the photos to both pick a yearbook choice and purchase photos, we were greeted by a very young girl who seemed like she was upset to be working on a Sunday and treated us like we were ruining her day.
She kept hurrying us to choose a photo. At one point she suddenly said we were not allowed to look at all the photos and could only pick from eight of the photos. My son is quite handsome and normally has little or no acne. For some reason he had more than normal and is why we specifically made sure another sitting would be available to us. The young girl told us my son would not be allowed to take any more pictures and had to pick from only the eight she presented.
My son at that point just wanted to leave to no longer deal with this and picked one.
I continued to request another sitting and was refused. She told me that my son was the only one that gets to choose and had to make a decision right then for the yearbook photo. I explained that I'm paying for these photos and that I wanted to be involved. After eight times of telling me I have no say, I told her I have heard this once too many times and to please not tell me this again. Finally the young girl said it might be possible to take more photos after I paid to have the current photos touched up. I asked her if it was manually touched up or done with the help of a computer. She claimed she didn't know the answer. I asked her if she could find out the details of my question on touch up from someone else in the office. She rolled her eyes, took a deep breath, said OK, and then left the room.
Eventually an older woman came. She did not introduce herself but folded her arms and immediately asked if there was a problem. I said "no, no problem, I did how ever have a question that the young girl said she did not know the answer and agreed to find out from someone else." The woman seemed shocked I was only trying to get a question answered. I confirmed there was no problem but that I did have a question. Again, she seemed shocked and then proceeded to tell me that the young girl was up set and wanted to go home. I told her she acted that way the moment we met her and that I had wished the older woman from the reception desk area could have helped us instead as she seemed far more professional, and more welcoming. I explained all I need to know is the answer to my questions on touch up before making a decision to pay for touching up any photos. The woman said she was the one who did the touch ups. I said this was great as now I could get my questions answered. She then refused to talk about touch ups and still wanted to talk about the young girl. I basically begged her to move on and simply focus on answering my questions on toughing up photos. Instead of answering my question, she shockingly turned to my son and and rudely told him, "Boy do you have a rough life." I then told her that I felt this response was completely inappropriate, and uncalled for. Her response was even more shocking.
This woman began to use profanity including the "F" word towards me. I was of course horrified at her behavior. I requested an immediate apology and instead she said she was sure my son most likely used the "F" word and that I have probably said this word before. I assured her this kind of language was completely inappropriate, especially in this business/ customer relationship. She disagreed and said she was the owner and could do what ever she wanted. After informing her we were going to use another studio, she then said, " You would have to have have half a brain to ask if touch ups were done by hand painting ( like 30 years ago) or with computers." Then an older gentleman claiming to be the owner started shouting the "F" word and to go ahead and use another studio. Please use another studio for senior pictures. read more
