Took my son here for his senior year graduation photos. Dave, our photographer was wonderful, pays attention to detail and you can tell he's very meticulous. He was funny and super helpful with lots of good ideas to help my son open his eyes more and showed him positions to hide his double chin. Unfortunately, we did show up a bit late because the place was extremely hard to find. GPS had us going to the building next to the huge trashcan. It's actually to the left of that. Huge parking lot in front, but couldn't find their office space. Its threw the hallway and to the left next to the bathroom. Front desk was nice and friendly. Way too expensive!! For 4 photos it is close to $500. The pictures are fine but the prices are outrageous

Avoid at all costs -- exhausting, unprofessional, and refuses refunds. Unfortunately, our school steered us to this photo studio for my child's senior photo, and the experience was a complete nightmare from start to finish. The studio is inconveniently located more than 30 miles away from the school, which already makes scheduling difficult for families. I had to wait 2-3 months to get a slot for an appointment, pushing us into November/December 2025 when the deadline to make it into the yearbook is early-January 2026. On top of that, we were charged twice for a sitting fee, totaling $100. Despite providing proof that we canceled and rescheduled an appointment, the studio has refused to refund the duplicate sitting fee. What should have been a simple correction instead turned into an exhausting ordeal: multiple back-and-forth emails just to try to recover money that was improperly charged. No family should have to spend this much time, energy, and emotional labor chasing a refund for an error that the business could have resolved immediately. The refusal to refund, despite documentation, feels punitive and dismissive. Senior photos are supposed to be a positive milestone. This studio made the experience stressful, time-consuming, and financially frustrating. I strongly recommend that families push their schools to use a different vendor and that parents avoid this business altogether. read more

Here's my honest review. I signed up for a free photoshoot on Facebook with a $500 credit towards any art piece. I got a call from Emma telling me that we won, and she was super helpful and personable and tried to get more information about our family. I was told that in order to get scheduled, I would need to pay up front $195 reservation deposit that will be refunded as long as we show up. I completely understand the reasoning behind that and paid it right away. On the week of, I got a phone call from Emma again to remind me of our session and even got texts prior to confirm. When we got to the studio, we were led to a room where there was water, mirror, hair products and even an area to change wardrobe if needed. Julie, the photographer came and led us to her studio. She was great and captured amazing photos of our family. She was especially patient with our toddler. Afterwards, she needed time to select and edit a selection of our photos for us to view later. It didn't take long. After she was finished, we were led to a different room where we were presented with the ones Julie selected for us. The presentation went amazing until I heard the prices. I honestly can't remember the sizes and pricing for everything. But I have the exact amount of our order. For just one 20", it's $2,500 without a frame. Side bar from our experience: I had to read some reviews off of Google, and the owner said the prices were on their website but not for the Legacy family category. All I read on the website is that on average a family will spend $1000-1500 (for which I do not believe). Anyway, the $500 credit will only get us one 8x10" photo that is not framed. I was honestly quiet and dumbfounded with the rest of the presentation. My amazing husband who loved the photos made all the decisions and settled on what he was willing to purchase. Emma took time to help us select which photos to invest in, and she answer all of our questions and gave us options and visuals of what our purchases would look like at home. She even threw a free 8x10" of one of our toddler's solos which we appreciated but was not necessary. She may have saw my face that I was not happy with the cost of everything, so to "lessen the blow" she gave us a freebie. That's how I perceived it to be by the way she kept saying, "I can't let you go without giving you this" over and over. Anyway, we settled on our purchases worth of $8,000 and with "discounts" plus our refundable deposit it came out to a house payment of $2900 not including frames. We didn't pay it upfront. We asked about a payment plan and she settled for 4 monthly payments starting with the first payment upfront. I will never forget that all photos will take 8-12 weeks for production BUT they will not go into production until we have paid the full amount. One they are completed, they can only be picked up to avoid any damages from shipping. I forgot to mention that digital copies cannot be purchased unless you purchase an art piece. For us at the time, with discounts, it would have been $600+. I have no clue what the original amount would have been, and the digital copies would only print in quality of 8x10" size and not any larger. After we paid the first installment, we signed a contract that we can't receive any refunds. I know a lot of the negative reviews are about pricing and it's for a good reason. I definitely could have paid a professional photographer $3000 for more than one digital photo that are not limited to an 8x10"size. I definitely left the studio feeling like I was an idiot and full of regret. When I signed up for the "contest" to win a photoshoot, I wrote that it will be our first family portrait (which it was), and that we would be leaving memories for our child for a lifetime. I believe we were the perfect family to upsell to because when we saw our photos, our hearts couldn't help but think illogically. read more

They used the local radio station to advertise their studio, and the station had a contest for $500 legacy family portrait. Then weeks later I got a call from Emma who told me I won that photo session which I need to come in and make reservation with the deposit. Later I got the appointment because I wanted it to be done before my trip overseas, I even brought my Mom; Bill was the photographer, he took a bunch of photos of us together, then single shots. Finally we would go to another room to pick out the ones that we like, and proceed to have it framed, estimated the time it will be finished, then break down the payment. Let just say, the price was not cheap, since the portrait was handmade, it took 6 weeks at least, with the $500 certificate I got an 8x10 size without the frame, so I have to pick out one, the refundable deposit helped cover a portion of it, then I have to give them a few extra hundreds to cover the rest. I totally understand the practice of their business, so I will not criticize them like some of the reviews. My nitpicks are unlike any studios I had been to, they did not allow me to take pictures of the establishment during my photoshoot, so no behind the scene when Bill took our pictures, nor the time we picked out the favorite photos, their reasons were copyright reasons, which I found hard to believe, I can't take a good quality photo of myself with a smart phone in the dark room. Secondly they didn't allow you to keep any digital copies unless you would pay extra, they didn't keep a profile folder of their clients either, the ones you didn't buy will be deleted within a week. Finally it would be the price, it's expensive for my experience, with $500 for most of my photo sessions I would get 6 pictures with retouched plus a makeup artist and unlimited access to my digital copies for the ones I didn't use, but again Keane operated a different photography business. I received the picture, framed and shipped to my address after my 2 months trip, it came out great, but I wish the price and the experience were much settled. I was told that I won a portrait and family heirloom worth $1,500 but when I inquired I was also told that in order to actually make the appointment, I would have to pay a $200 deposit that is refundable as long as we show up. This is a clear red flag and so I asked if since I won, if there was any way to forgo the $200 deposit to which I was told a hard no. I even assured them that we would absolutely show up. So either this is a scam or they make you give the deposit and aggressively try to sell you once you are at the studio to collect your "winnings," and then keep your deposit and you likely end up spending even more. I thought I should post this to alert others as this was a really poor experience and I would hate for someone to fall for this. read more

Worst experience for getting portfolio service. Had to go there because our daughter's school recommended this company. They have price gauging tactics.. Charging extremely high rates for physical as well as digital pictures on top of professional charges.. $1000 to $1500 for a portfolio. Extremely bad attitude of the staff, due to monopoly position. The business plaza itself is very pretty. Walk through the South Gate entrance because it's the closest to the studio. Took my son for senior portraits and everything went smoothly. David was excellent and very knowledgeable about the various poses. Super happy with the experience. They have a changing room with lotion, hairspray, and other toiletries. I just booked a Take10 session for Friday June 18th the Early Bird price of $29. My credit card was charged $54.60 I hope they credit my card when she goes in for her appointment. Bill worked so well with us and our 1 yo daughter! She was NOT happy about getting her photo taken that day and yet we had too many good shots to chose from by the end! My daughter's school recommended Keane for her senior pictures, so I signed up for the Take 30 + Outdoor session for $120. I should have looked at the pricing catalog before booking the session, and boy was I surprised. The cost for packages, digital files, or even low-res social media was exorbitant. I did see a reasonable price for 2 5x7 unretouched prints, but was told I couldn't purchase online prints with my "Take 30" package. Because I paid more money initially, I was unable to buy less expensive prints. I don't know why, but I didn't argue. Although the pictures were beautiful, we chose to buy nothing. What a waste of time. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because the staff was very nice and didn't pressure me to buy pictures. The photographers were both talented and personable, and the pictures turned out great. Too bad they are all just going in the garbage. We did get to chose a senior pictures for the yearbook at no additional cost, so at least we have that. I'm going to recommend the school partner with a different studio that provides packages at a reasonable rate (not in the thousands of dollars). read more

Raking families over the coals for senior pictures. We had no idea their packages start at over $1k. To simply buy the digital prints you are looking at close to $1,000. Careful with Covid, we were packed into the front room with 3 to 4 different families. They will not share the shots for you to view unless you pay $80. I can't get past the price gouging in this time to even speak of the quality of the pictures. The set up is unbelievable. Unknown to most, you can go in for 10 minutes and take a senior photo for no cost. They never ever tell you that. Then then set up an "appointment" after so once again, more exposure. Yes, the could share them with you online but no one ever tells you that. They want you back in the studio, more exposure, to up sell. So so sad. Parents are very unhappy. read more

If I could give MINUS 10 for this business I would. They engaged my 17 year old daughter only without going through me as a parent and sold her a senior year package worth over $800 for essentially all 5x 7 pictures and one lousy frame. The company was unresponsive when I contacted them by phone and email. When their sales person called me finally, the response was "well your daughter had a credit card and we have been trained it's ok to charge a student's credit card". Since when is it ok to charge a minor's credit card without a parent's consent?? I requested a call from their management but still have not heard back. You comment below is inaccurate. I have talked to multiple people from Keane who all say they will pass on the message but have not heard back from your management directly. Again it is NOT ok to charge a minors credit card without checking with a parent. And if the parent was not present, then either the appointment needs to be changed or a phone call to the parent would have prevented this. My daughter felt intimidated to question the price because she is too young. Our credit card was charged a week ago and there was not even a record of the order on your system when I called to speak to someone about this issue. So no one could help me when I called. Again you don't even realize that I am wanting to modify the order and no one has responded to my email or call to make this change happen. We had a family portrait done at Keane studios and could not be happier with the end product! We have two little ones but the staff was patient and kind ensuring we got the perfect picture. Kim was especially amazing to work with. She was knowledgeable about the entire process, helping us to make the best choices on types of portrait finishes, sizes, frames. A true professional! Our school contracted with this studio, so it's not like researching beforehand on yelp or another site would have made a difference. We opted for the 5 minute photo session, and the pictures came out really nice, but the prices make this place a non-starter for anything other than the most basic, session. I thought we would at least be able to purchase an 8x10 or digital print. The 8x10 was $99 and the digital $195! That's for a single photo. Mind you it was a 5 minute session. We do family photos every year, but I've never come across prices like this. If you want a good lifestyle photo, look for a professional photographer that will come out and meet in public. You can ask for a group package and have several families join in on the same day. Get the digitals and print what you want. I had to go to Keane for my daughter's senior pictures. You were rushed in and out. No props whatsoever. No to mention you are charged for a sitting fee. And the outrageous cost of the pictures!! How did they get convince to do such an awful thing to students and parents. Prestige is way better in every way! Plus, you don't get pushed in and out like a herd of cattle. Prestige takes the time to let you enjoy the experience. They have numerous props to make your day unique and memorable. She sees the difference because her older sister had her senior year pictures taken at Prestige before someone at Scripps Ranch High School thought it was a good idea to switch to Keane! The 1 star is not based on the quality of the photos, it is for their prices and sales tactic. In short, they offer reasonable sitting fees to suck you in, then charge you outrageous prices for prints and digital images and because they are contracted with SDUHSD there is no other choice for senior yearbook photos. They also had a contract with my church for my son's First Communion and I ordered 20 regular prints, 4x4 or 5x5 I forget which, which were supposed to be of my son standing out front of the church. What they sent me was 20 candid unretouched, unflattering prints of my son at the altar. It was my bad on the form but in my defense the form was very confusing. This was 10 years ago and I spent $500 on prints that I did not want but they wouldn't budge, I was hoping for a discount on the prints I had intended to order but they offered nothing and it was just too much money to order a second time. Keane Studios takes photos of graduating seniors at all 6 SDUHSD high schools. They've had an exclusive contract since 1995. Once your student completes their junior year you will receive an email telling you to reserve your photo session right away, offering a discount on the sitting fee if you reserve early. The sitting fees are reasonable and vary from $24 (for unretouched photos taken in the studio) to $149(1/2 hour in the studio + 1/2 hour session taken at a preselected location of your choice after July 15). There is a free option if you want an unretouched yearbook photo only with no prints, but this information is not obvious and most parents don't realize this option is available. After your session they try hard to get you into the studio to order, and they charge you for not placing your order in person. If you want to view your photos online before the face-to-face meeting, there is an $80 charge. If you want to order without the face-to-face meeting, you must pay $125 for the privilege. Both of these charges can be applied to your order. On the Keane Seniors website session reservation form, it states: "The most efficient method to view and order is at the studio ten days after your session. We will guide you through the process of selecting your images, show you available sizes and help create the best combination for your family. If you prefer to see the images online before your appointment, please add an $80 deposit (applicable to your order) to your session fee. If you'd prefer to view online for ten days, then place your order by phone, please select the $125 deposit option below." So you have to pay $125 if you want to avoid their sales presentation. The schools sell all of the good seats for $50 a seat so no matter how early you get there, if you didn't buy yourself a seat there is pretty much no chance you will be able to take photos of your graduate unless you bring a telephoto and a ladder. From where I was sitting, the Keane photographer was directly in my line of sight to the state so that even with a telephoto I was unable to get an unobstructed photo of the stage. On the plus side, I had a great view of the photographer's back. After graduation you will get an email from Keane offering you the option to purchase a candid unretouched digital photo of your graduate receiving their diploma, the price for this downloadable single image in 2012 was $42.12 with tax. There are over 2000 seniors in SDUHSD at any given time so do the math, with a captive audience and no competion, this is a cash cow for Keane, they've held this exclusive contract now for 20 years. read more

He took many various photos in the 15 minutes and definitely caught a lot of good shots of my graduating senior. STOP!!! First, you do NOT have to use them for your senior pictures! It is not easy to find out especially with all their propaganda but you can have your picture taken in October by them, at the school. You do NOT have to buy their pictures. now the real review: Pros: I guess located in the middle of SD county (Del Mar). If you do go there so you can grossly overpay for pictures they have a beautiful outdoor setting. Basically a well kept hotel courtyard setting. Cons: 1 picture= $375-. I got suckered into the $85 sitting fee before knowing I didn't have to use them (my fault). Amateur photography. Picture of my son sitting down on a chair left a foot of empty space above him and cut off his Letterman jacket. That's photo 101. A 45 min session is 44min and get out... No joke, Sears, Target, Walmart would do a better job. Keane Studios gives a financial kickback to the schools for using them. Any positive feedback, is from someone connected to Keane. read more

While the pictures here look nice, the partnership this place has with SDUHSD is ridiculous. We are required to get our senior photos taken here for the yearbook due to their contract. The most affordable option is available for the deceptively cheap price of $49. You are given a sales pitch days after the photoshoot when you are finally allowed to view your photos - thankfully, you can skip the sales pitch for $125! The only other option for students who are unable to afford Keane Studios or refuse to buy into their cheap business tactics are to get their picture taken for free without editing or the option to personally select the picture that they want to be included in the yearbook. read more

SO OVERPRICED!!!! My daughter is a senior at SDA and I really want to know who selected this establishment? Can we as parents PLEASE get a different and more reasonable studio for the future? To top everything off the photos are not that much better than a mall photographer--seriously. Furthermore at the start of summer Keane barraged us with emails admonishing us (parents) to book our session early and dangling carrots saying we could apply a portion of our session fee back to the price of photos purchased. Of course as the summer when on the portion to be applied to the order diminished. When my husband went to purchase the photos this was not done. They charged full price to his credit card for what he selected not applying any portion of the $99 fee we paid weeks before. To be fair I have to call and ask for that credit back to our order and I don't know yet what they will say. I don't think I should even have to call; it should have been credited without any mention. Why else would I have rushed and booked when I did? My wife and I took them up on a promotional offer and we were really impressed with the some of the "playdate" photos they took with an Easter theme. However, the user experience and business processes they use for actually selecting and ordering the photos are pretty ridiculous. We had to use some special code to log into an archaic website and only had a limited time to view our portraits before ordering. When my wife tried repeatedly to call the studio about getting a new code, she was constantly sent to voicemail and her calls were almost never returned. Then, when they finally gave us a new access code, it still didn't work. Remember, we were at the point in the purchase process where we were sitting at our computer with our credit card out ready to spend money. This should have been mind-numbingly easy at this point. Once we finally did order the prints we wanted (which were pretty expensive in my opinion), we were told it would take a couple of months to get them. We won't even have them in time to use for our annual family calendar. I mean... 2 months!?!? Please. 1982 called and it wants its portrait purchasing process back. Anyway, we liked the pictures, but will never use this studio again because of their poor customer service and painful ordering process. The studio was the only "official" studio for taking senior pictures at my daughter's high school. This kind of arrangement gives me bad feeling as no matter good or bad the result is, we will be stuck with it. Even though we can find a better photographer with the photos we like, we cannot use them for the senior picture. So, we made appointment and had the picture taken. When results came out, we selected the one we preferred. Then, when the photo was delivered, it was not the one that we requested and all the shots of that day have been removed from their website by the time the photo was delivered, so we have no way to argue or confirm that we have selected a different one. In addition, my credit card was charged twice for the same service. When I called them to report this error, they cannot issue a refund, and I have to file a claim from my bank to have the issue resolved. For this experience, I would say the customer service at the studio is simply very bad. We ended up spent money to get a photo that we did not want in the first place. read more

My daughter loves bunnies so last year I was beyond excited when I saw the bunny photo shoot offer for Easter time. The staff was friendly and we ended up with amazing pictures for the grandparents. I decided to do it again this year and had a much different experience. Even though we were repeat customers (who spent way too much in the past), we were not treated nearly as well this time. I felt like we were rushed out the door and the photographer did not take as many pictures as he did last year. When I came in to pick out the prints, I asked for the same package that I had ordered the previous year. They did not tell me that it no longer included the disc with the ten images I liked which was half the reason I went back to them. After paying a lot of money two years in a row, I had thought that maybe they would offer me a discount so I could get the disc. Nope. I will never go back to them after this. If I could give 0 stars, I would. They promised and did not deliver. They couldn't take the most simple directions. The editing? I spoke to a real professional and showed the work this studio gave me and the answer was clear: they use a ONE CLICK editing system! A filter! Save your money and go to a studio that actually knows what they're doing. Don't waste your time and money on these amateurs. Its shocking how people actually fall for their BS.
