Wonderful time floating the current. The guys working at kC's are wonderful. They are all so nice. From renting your equipment to the drop off to float, all the way back to the ride back to vehicles. Excellent all the way across the board. I do think you guys need to invest in some non moldy life jackets. Everything and everyone here was great to deal with and super kind. This place is amazing! I have stayed here twice before I checked the yelp reviews and I am shocked at what people are saying! The owner and staff are the friendliest folks around! The staff comes by each evening before closing to make sure you don't need any ice or wood for evening and will even deliver. The bus drivers are super knowledgeable and make the experience awesome! They are helpful and make sure you have all you need for an awesome day on the river! The little store has all the basics you may have forgot for floating and some cute KCs swag! The camp sites are your basic campsites, like if you are expecting something more than what they offer--camping may not be your thing! Lol both spots I have stayed at have been perfect! The bathhouse and campground are all maintained even despite the high waters! The floating experience is my favorite in the area! The take out spot is WAY safer than there competitors! Absolutely great staff. The river tubing trip is pretty rough. Currents get pretty swift and there are several pretty rough spots. Very dangerous to small kids and poor swimmers. HIGHLY recommend life vests for everyone!! We had a few close calls and if we had life vests on it wouldn't had been no big deal. Very beautiful area. Prices were good. Update to this review....because KC's On the Current can't take an honest review, of how their patrons viewed their campground....they had the audacity to kick us out at 11pm on Saturday June 9th, 2018. I recorded him coming up to our campsite and telling us to pack up and get your a** out. That if I was going to put a bad review out on his bathhouse, then get your a** out. Solely because of this...WOW! We had 2 kids with us, the youngest 6... he had to get up after being in bed to pack up because the owner couldn't accept that not everyone likes his facility. We have absolutely no respect for these people. This was our experience: Cars were in and out of the campground all hours of the night... there is no security anywhere. We saw the police patrol once at 7pm. We are here with our kids...just didn't seem to be family friendly, as advertised. Bathrooms are... well, not the greatest...check for toilet paper first before you sit down, toilets don't flush.. just swirl. They were so disgusting...as you will see in pictures. And hope you don't mind a ton of bugs in the bathroom, webs, pooling water and stinky trash cans.. cause you will find plenty of them. It appeared that people were putting their toilet paper in the trash cans, since the toilets only swirled , it didn't push the toilet paper down. That attracted flies, and bugs as well. (Pictures are posted below - these are pictures from this past weekend at this campground) Hope you also don't need anything after 7pm.. the very little store.... for ice, or firewood closes at 7pm. Yes, there are stores in town, if you don't mind having to leave the campground for ice or wood. That's always fun after a day on the river and being tired. They advertise on their website that the Deer float... is a leisurely float??.. can fish, take your dogs, and small children .... DON'T!! The river is filled with an excessive amount of jon boats..speed boats, wave runners... anything that makes large waves!! Very large waves! Apparently it's allowed... but no one tells the out of towners....like us. Do I blame the campground...I sure do...I had very lengthy phone calls , and emails prior to this trip... at no time did they disclose to me of this hazard... or say it on their website. It's very misleading.....How dangerous it is to float kayaks, canoes... and tube floats.... with dogs and young children!! We had several tube floaters express to us they too did not feel safe. The jon boats and speed boats fly past you (within 10 feet of you) and create large waves. We almost lost our dog to drowning within the first 10 min of being on the river...we lost equipment that is going to cost to replace... Then to top it all off, my son got flipped out of his float tube and about drowned due to a jon boat driving fast.. pushing us into rocks... and trees. I grabbed him in time. Yes, he had a life jacket on... waves still went over him....he was in a float attached to my kayak... and it still went over him. Water patrol also drove fast up and down the river. Bottom line.. go to another river. This is by far the worst river trip I've ever had. I've been floating for over 30 years... as we were sitting at the campsite (before the owner rudely kicked us out)....I could still here the boats racing up and down the river. So unbelievably disappointed. Staff here, the adults were friendly. (again..until the owner kicked us out) But unfortunately, that does not overshadow all the negatives we have experienced this weekend. This could be normal for this river... but we would have appreciated some honesty or pre-warning of what to expect. Do not bring kids..or dogs. We definitely didn't see a single canoe...not one. My wife and I had some family coming to visit during Memorial Day weekend, a total group of 3 adults and 3 kids. We contacted KC's On the Current based on positive feedback & reviews online, and after speaking with Davonne on May 18th, we made a reservation & prepaid for 6 "Cadillac Tubes". My credit card was promptly charged, and an email confirmation was sent. All was good, or so we thought... Fast forward to Memorial Day. We rented a minivan the night before, and left St. Louis at 7:00am. The forecasted high was 86, and there was a 0% chance of rain, so (as very inexperienced floaters) weather concerns were the furthest thing from our minds. We arrived at KC's at about 10:30am, and immediately thought it was odd that there wasn't a single car in the parking lot. I hopped out of the van and went to the office...locked, lights out and no posted notes on the door. I walked around back...not a sole. I went back to the van and checked my printed confirmation...May 30th, no mistakes there. Finally, I called the office. A recorded message informed us that KC's On the Current would "not be floating" on May 30th due to high water levels in the river! Like I mentioned, we are not experienced floaters, and high water levels did not enter our realm of thought before we hopped in the van for a 3.5 hour drive. I do not fault KC's for closing, and I am pleased to see that the business puts safety first (one star earned). Why my family and I are upset is because there was absolutely no attempt at proactive communication from the establishment -- no phone calls, no voicemails, no emails, no texts...nothing! For a business who advertises on its website that they are 180 miles from St. Louis, 140 miles from Memphis, etc., it only stands to reason that they receive a lot of out of town adventurers. Taking 30 seconds to contact me the night before or early morning of would have saved my family and I from 7 hours of driving, plus undue fuel expenditures. KC's was very quick to charge my credit card...and it would have been just as quick for them to reach out to me. We would have been disappointed that our plans had to be put on hold, but we would have had the day to find something else to do (and trust me, there's not much else to do in Doniphan on Memorial Day). Instead, most of the day was lost journeying back to St. Louis. One extra star earned because KC's did issue a refund after I contacted my bank. I would urge KC's to treat their customers as guests, and to understand that getting to Doniphan is a pretty big deal. As a reasonable consumer, I totally understand the closure, but I have a total lack of respect for their lack of proactive communication. read more

I drove from STL on the 3rd of July and stayed in hotel the night before and it stormed so bad that morning i didnt wana leave my hotel. When there flash floods tornado warnings and it thundering and lighting like it was it could have been a death sentence going out on a river like that. Many many people die on that river in normal weather. Imagne the risk with bad weather. But company didnt do anything thing but take my money. they stole the 140 i put down to use them to go floating. They didnt even give refund or a raincheck even tho they say they will right on their website. Im fighting it through the credit card company and the BBB. But this company should learn that they shouldnt be able to do business this way. They should offer somthing. Ive called 3 times to talk to somone about it and once they find out its me the hangup and when they didnt talk to me all they said was "it happens theres nothing we can do" read more
