There are several great places to visit as a part of this area, but my favorites by far are the Current River and Big Spring on the Current River, and the campground of the same name. I have a wonderful group of friends that introduced me to floating on the Current when I was in college, and ever since this river has held a special place in my heart. We usually camp at Big Spring Campground. There are both electric, non-electric, and RV hookup's. There are real bathrooms, as well as hot showers within walking distance of camp (not porta potties, but it is a campground - so say hello to your local, resident spiders and their webs). We like this camp, because it's right on the river, family friendly, and close to town but far enough out to enjoy nature. While camping a must do experience for all is a walk to Big Spring. It's a natural cold spring, whose source pumps out enough fresh water to fill Busch Stadium in 33 hours! I like to walk there in the early morning or twilight to see the mist roll in. http://www.nps.gov/ozar/planyourvisit/big-spring.htm The nearby town of Van Buren offers: - a nice Lodge for those who want a nice dinner and/or whose idea of camping is air conditioning, nice beds, and tv - the local ice cream spot called The Jolly Cone - the local cafe, The Floatstream Restaurant, for your typical small diner food and a pretty okay breakfast - various small shops to stock up on essentials: beer, sunblock, souvenir tshirts, snacks, replaceable float shoes and swimsuits, intertubes, gas, fishing bait, etc. - and a whole lot of other small town amenities The water is spring fed. So it's super cold and clear - perfect for a hot summer's day! The Current has a pretty decent current, with nice deep water and wading shallows dotted with periodic gravel bars. It's great for intertubing and canoe trips. Various campgrounds and businesses offer rentals and trips with pick up and drop off options (2, 4, 6 hour floats, or even multiple day trips). Check out the area and find YOUR favorite spots and recommendations. It will probably become one of your favorite places on Earth too!

It was supposed to be a quiet vacation here for a couple of days but the secret got out and the entire city showed up to spot the most famous musicians. In remembrance of the events, the city created "Beatles Park" here and renamed the street to "Abbey Road" and there are cutouts and posters and sculptures and murals that commemorate the event. It's a quick, cheesy and campy stop and if you're anywhere near Walnut Ridge - look at a map, there's nothing near Walnut Ridge - you should stop in and check it out. The highlights for me were being near the water, and the absolute gem of a camp hostess, Melissa. When my husband checked us in he said, "She's really friendly," and a few hours later I met her myself and had to agree. Plus, I got to meet the camp kitties. Shadow, the all-black mini panther, totally stole my heart. What a sweetheart. The campground was very quiet and peaceful, with free firewood and super clean bathrooms that are ice cold, which was a total win on a hot day. The showers are free and in great condition too. The entire park is tidy and well maintained. It's a dry park, so if you're planning to enjoy a cocktail by the fire, just be a little stealthy and bring a cozy. Civilization is about a 15-minute drive away, but still dry... so plan accordingly. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back.

Cyclists have to use the paved trail so walkers and dog walkers can rest with ease There are restrooms at every pavilion. The park also has playgrounds, shelter, a campground and forested hiking trails. The best thing for those with dogs is the dog jumping pier. My dogs had a blast on the warm day we were here. There is also a dog beach.

The Amateur tees are marked with red rocks. The Kids tees are marked with blue rocks and the Pro tees are marked with yellow. we couldn't find some of the blue or yellow tees on a few of the holes. Most amateurs are just going to play from the signpost. Lots of up and down as well.

We went to Grand Gulf because we were spending the day at Mammoth springs and were nearby. Had I made a long drive to this specific park I would have been disappointed. It's cool but there's just not enough to see to spend a whole lot of time there. The bathrooms were clean but toilets were the compostable type so they were not the most fresh smelling. The railings along the overlook areas had very wide gaps (not broken, just wide) . Don't let your young children walk far ahead of you! If there is someone in your party with limited mobility, the stairs will be hard to descend and ascend. Now that the negative is out of the way, let me hype it up somewhat. The trails around the "mini Grand Canyon" are well-kept and short enough for younger children. You could tell there were areas that were newer and had been repaired. The walkways were kept neat. Educational signage was abundant and quite informative. The views were amazing!
