The level of care I received from the front desk was on point. I'm very pleased I was able to check in without having to do it with the busy front desk. My appointment was at 1130 but I wasn't seen till 12:20, no big deal. I'm used to waiting for doctors. I appreciate the nurse who called me she was very polite. Awesome type of care I received. The room I was waiting in was very clean, see photos. If you're worried about other people hearing you speak with your doctor, then this isn't the location for you. Bathroom Alert: The bathroom was super clean. I like how it was cleaned right after I used it. I am happy knowing I won't get an infection from the bathroom. I like the nurse who helped me when I had to draw a urinalysis. She explained everything in detail. She walked me to the bathroom just in case I had to faint. I greatly appreciate her. I appreciate how patient she was with my responses. I didn't get to see my regular doctor, so I needed to see her PA. I appreciated the type of care I received from her. She is amazing and explained that if I needed to go to the hospital it would be my actual doctor who would be doing the procedure. But unfortunately my doctor is on maternity leave. So I'm just waiting for tests. Either way I'm happy with my visit today. I will continue to see the PA. Thanks NYU.

I was expeditiously checked-in upon arrival and seen by my physician within five minutes! Now that's amazing. It's a wonderful thing to not have to sit and wait hours and hours in the physician's waiting room whilst pouring over old tattered magazines on the coffee tables of yore. Plus, with the convenient NYU Medical App on my smartphone: (1.) my appointment was confirmed a week prior to (2.) I was able to fill out those hundred page forms asking for my life's memoirs with my medical history dating back to my grandparents. So convenient in every way! An Obnoxious Ophthalmologist…read more One afternoon last fall, I was sitting in Dr. Andrew Schwartz's Upper East Side office waiting for my eyes to dilate. It was the last part of my cataract evaluation. Suddenly, a scantily dressed trans woman burst through the door. She introduced herself and loudly proclaimed to the receptionist, "I have the best legs on the planet." I was fascinated! A staff member immediately whisked her away from public view. I followed them to the small room where they sell eyeglasses. She repeated the thing about her legs and I commented that it was supposed to be boring in a doctor's waiting room. Her comeback was, "Well, it's not boring anymore!" I laughed. A few minutes later, (were my eyes even dilated yet?) I was escorted to Dr. Schwartz's examining room. He looked furious. His face was flushed, his eyes, glazed over and he immediately began scolding me! "I wish HE (Dr. Schwartz insisted on emphasizing the wrong pronoun) wouldn't come here," he seethed through tight lips. I mumbled my correction. "She." The doctor continued his rant. "HE upsets people. And YOU! YOU encouraged HIM!" He nodded his head towards his examining chair and ordered me to sit down. I paused to take in what was happening. I was 81, and not accustomed to being treated poorly. Dr. Schwartz had always seemed so charming. Everyone gave him five-star reviews. I never suspected there was a powder keg hidden beneath the surface, ready to explode. "No way!" I began. My voice got louder as I continued. "An ophthalmologist who's angry at me is not going to stick needles in my eyes!" He shrugged and said, "Suit yourself." I left. It's a big city. There are many fine doctors. Thankfully, Medicare still exists. No one should have to subject themself to an obnoxious ophthalmologist.

Dr. Schwartz performed cataract surgery on my eyes recently. I am pleased with the results. My…read moreeyes are healthy, now 8 and 5 weeks after the operations, respectively. I chose the "toric" option, an insert to correct my severe astigmatism, and both my eyes now have very little remaining astigmatism. My distance vision is reasonably good without glasses and remarkably good with eyeglasses that have a slight correction. Reading requires a simple 2.25 or 2.5 diopter correction as expected. All of the staff at their 5th Avenue offices were very professional and effective, as were the staff at their West Side surgical center. This made a huge difference for me, as I found the prospect of surgery on both of my eyes particularly unnerving. Special Kudos for Melodie, the surgical coordinator, who accommodated change of dates when needed and kept me sane throughout the process! I tend to ask a lot of questions, and Dr. Schwartz was very patient with me and very clear.

But the level of care has dteriorated in some ways. 1.5-2 hour waits. Its months to see him or his PA or a nurse. I see Urgent Care more than him quite often. The level of communication has also greatly deteriorated. For important issues...I have to resend messages. When Im in his exam room, its great. He couldnt be a better. But the rest is quite troubling to a patient of 20 years.

I always laugh he puts a blue snoopy bandaid on me after blood test. heh.. Most of all, he runs around doing every measurements/tests by himself in his office. It feels to me he really knows what he is doing and mostly very thorough. But not overcharges or anything like that. He was such a huge help in some emergencies in the past and his referals also mentioned how great and thorough he is, which is a very good sign. His office assistant Rich is such a great one as well who knows how to deal with a lot of right there issues to making appts. Not to mention how friendly he is. The office is small but cozy and since Dr. Stuart is very thorough, your appt always starts a bit later than scheduled, but you get to have all the time with him. My only throw back is the new female assistant. I've never saw her but dealing on the phone with her was so terrible. She makes you hold and forgets about you and answers like new call. Every single time. I probably cancelled appts at least 5 times just bc annoyed with her. Dr. Habor, she needs to go.

Doctor showed me the exercise that i started to use same day and it is miracuously saving me from pain, it is exactly what i was needed to prevent a pain and to be in control of my issue. We've seen a few different doctors (sometimes we aren't able to see his PCP) and everyone is very knowledge, cordial and kind. The nurses are all great and attempt to calm my son down who get a a bit nervous as he's only 2.5 (he started seeing his doctor at 18 months when we moved to NYC). At times during afternoon visits when they're busier the wait time can be a little long but that's fine. We are patient and things work out.
