I love how they take time to explain everything.. they do not pressure you or make you feel guilty (which I have had from other places) or bad about any decision you make in pet care. They are constantly reassuring and offering multiple options of care individualized to each pet. Everyone is always understanding and helpful ... from the front desk to the Vet. I'm supper over the top not wanting my fur babies out of my sight when they are having things done and they are always accommodating when possible to help not only my nervousness but also nervousness of the pet. The outpouring of kindness and compassion when my elderly cat declined quickly was just more than I could ask for. They way they explained in detail what was wrong providing copies of test results and X-rays without my having to beg. I'm so glad I found this place in an act of desperation... now I bring all my fur babies here! I also love they have an app to help you manage prescriptions, appointments, etc. so convenient. I have posted some of the awards I saw on their walls in the feline area and am impressed with how clean and comforting it is to come in. This was my first visit here with one of my fur babies and I'm happy! Thank you so much for a stellar visit! The veterinarian and assistant are very knowledgeable of this process. Thankfully. It's very important when you are sending a pet overseas to any country to get educated on that countries protocol and what and who you need to partner with (at least a year before) so you can set up a timeline for your pet to be ready to go. So far so good. This is a partnership with the providers that is important to follow clearly and directl

They are open weekends, which was handy with a recent Sunday emergency. The DVM gave a thorough exam to our 7-year old female dog and determined that the issue was not a urinary tract infection, but instead an infected uterus. Odd, since the dog was adopted from the Santa Clara County SPCA years ago and the DVM for San Martin SPCA spade her as a pup. Turns out, the SPCA completely botched the surgery and her uterus, uterine horns and even the ovaries were still in place (per the surgeon that emergency operated on her, and confirmed with biopsy results). I think most vets would have missed it being a uterus infection in a spayed dog, but this doc nailed it and saved our pet. Their follow up has been exceptional, with occasional calls to check up on things, appreciated. Fees were reasonable, unlike most vet clinics we've been to. They really seem to care about their patients and families, do excellent work, are available on weekends, and charge normal fair fees.

Manage pain and increase appetite and pray for a turn around. Was the blood work necessary? Probably not at that phase. There were many more tests that could have been run, but it was too late. The bloodwork, upon later analysis made it pretty clear there was nothing that could be done, nothing was going to help, even if brought in sooner at the first signs of distress it would have been very expensive to torture an old kitty and maybe get a few more weeks or months of time with no quality of life. She passed, she passed peacefully. That test was cheap in retrospect, there are very few "what ifs" remaining. AI agents made it clear that she probably had a renal lymphoma and final stage kidney failure. The only thing beyond that which was possible was to drain my wallet for false hopes and they didn't do that. I appreciate it, as sad as I am, it was her time and she went well.

That same day he and the two female receptionists were very forward in making clear that they wanted to see my son's dog euthanized. The doctor wanted blood work and a urine test done. I agreed to the tests. After leaving the exam room, I explained that my son wanted to say goodbye to his dog and that he would be coming from out of state. I took the husky home and treated him with the vets recommended shampoo. Later the test results came back with no urine infection. The doctor prescribed medication which I gave to the dog. He did not prescribe any pain medication. He said he needed to get the blood work back to make sure that it was safe to give the dog pain medication. The doctor never at any time prescribed any pain medication for this dog. Then the vet called Animal Control on me. The vet accused me of not treating the dog with pain medication. There was no kindness at all with this veterinarian. Do not expect any kindness for an elderly dog from these vets or their receptionists. My husky was euthanized by animal control with my consent. He was an old dog and it was his time to go. I would have taken him to this veterinarian for euthanization but not this vet not after their horrible treatment! I even called them to let them know that Balto had passed away. I can't say that they were very kind. They know what they did and How they spoke to me. I learned this a couple of days ago during a very difficult series of interactions resulting in the fact that I can no longer recommend this business. The front desk staff is great, and the location is awesome. I would have kept the original 5 star review but, this week, my experience was truly awful. Friday we saw a doctor I presumed was a temporary/substitute for Dr. Colbert that day. I can't recall his name but he was delightful, thorough, and answered all of my questions. He confirmed our little doggo had Gingivitis and an oral infection and recommended dental procedure asap. He prescribed antibiotics 3 days prior to prevent serious infection before/after. Surgery was set for 10 days later with "a woman doctor" (this is how office staff referred to her) which I presumed to be Dr. Colbert. Tuesday infection was clearly worse, and she was in pain, so Iet them know I wanted to start antibiotics early and refill/use an NSAID she'd had after a prior surgery. The medical assistant relayed the doctor's message. This is when I learned Dr. Colbert would not be performing the surgery and was no longer with their office. To paraphrase: "Yes, your dog has an oral infection, we're aware it's getting worse, and that she's experiencing pain, but you need to wait 5 more days to begin the antibiotics the substitute doctor prescribed. Do not give her any kind of pain medication, including prescription anti-inflammatory you have on hand from a past surgery or it will 'mess up her blood work'. She'll be fine in 11 days after dental surgery/treatment." I was really anxious about infection worsening. I'm aware of the issues with taking partial/unnecessary courses of antibiotics, but I still can't understand the difference between starting 8 days ahead and 3 days ahead. If it was about blood work having to be redone I would have paid for that - it seems like anything taken 10 days before surgery would be inaccurate anyway. I took doggie to an urgent care center and that vet didn't understand either. When she called for clarification she got the same answer. Minutes later I was called by PetsVet and told to look elsewhere for help. Doggie was given pain meds and antibiotics. 36 hours later infection and pain are almost gone. We're looking forward to having her treated by Dr. Colbert in a few weeks. I'm disappointed to have to write this review, but after so many attempts to communicate I feel that I've given this business the opportunity to resolve this.

I recently moved from Hayward to Morgan Hill, and wow--what a difference. I absolutely love it…read morehere. One of the best parts is having VCA San Martin just 10 minutes from my house. I brought my baby Lulu in and got connected with Dr. Zhen, and I'm so glad I did. She's super cool, attentive, and I really like her vibe. You can tell she genuinely cares. My dogs had a bad habit of being spoon-fed (yes, my fault ), and she gave me simple but effective advice--stop hand feeding and just leave the bowl out. And honestly... she was right. My senior dog now eats so much better. Before, it was such a struggle and I had to hand feed all the time, which just isn't realistic now that I have a baby. That advice alone made a huge difference. She also let me know Lulu was a little overweight (lol), and reassured me it's okay if she skips a meal or two--they won't starve themselves. I appreciated the honesty. Since I liked her so much, I also brought in my brother's dog, Belly Belle, and stuck with Dr. Zhen for both. She did dental cleanings on both dogs--though I was a little sad Lulu had to lose two teeth, I trust her care. Now the downside--and it's a big one--is the wait time. Every visit I've had, there's been a noticeable delay. The last time I brought Belly Belle, it took almost 30 minutes just to be seen after checking in, which is really frustrating. I understand things can run over, but it feels like there's not enough buffer built into their scheduling. When you plan your day around an appointment, that kind of delay adds up--especially with pets and a baby at home. Overall, I really do like the care and I plan to stick with Dr. Zhen. My 12-year-old senior dog is scheduled next--he has a lot going on (alopecia, dental issues), so I'm hopeful to see what kind of magic she can work for him. Just really hoping they can improve the wait times, because that's the one thing holding this place back from being a 5-star experience.

The doctor who did the X-ray (I don't recall her name, sadly), showed me that my lab, who was 9, had a spleen tumor. She said he maybe had 6 months to live. I was devastated. I asked if there was any way he could have surgery. She said no and recommended some Chinese herbs to help prevent bleeding (in case the tumor burst, as if that could save him somehow). I was so stupid to trust what she said. I still cry over my big lab's death. I didn't think to go get a second opinion, and I should have, considering some other instances at this vet clinic where I believe my pets were wrongly treated (and no one would ever admit their fault). One time a tech gave my same lab an allergy shot in his neck that basically paralyzed him for a couple of days. He fell off his bed and I had to take him to an emergency clinic, where they tended to him. I found out, over the ensuing months and years after his death, that it is possible to have surgery. Golden Gate Lab Rescue (we foster for them) told us many of their old labs had successful surgeries to either remove the tumor or the entire speen! I was stunned to learn about this, and have since heard of many success stories. I am certain that if I had gone to another vet, a competent one, I could have had surgery done instead of watching my poor boy go through seizures, pain, and finally paralysis and death months after that diagnosis. I noticed too that the vet never brought in any other vet at this clinic to consult and discuss. She just said, sorry, your dog is going to die and there's nothing you can do. I am still grieving my lab, who was the love of my heart. He should still be alive today. Now, with the old lab I rescued, I do ultrasound screenings annually (Golden Gate Lab Rescue does this) to detect early any sign of a speen tumor, which is common in some large breeds. I don't know if this vet practice is any better, but 1) no one ever apologized to me and 2) they told me that since I had voiced concern over that neck shot, they refused to have me as a client any longer. I actually got a "dear John" letter from them, instead of their apologizing to me for the incompetent treatment that caused my dog pain.
