I have bought three items from this location. My first was a gold neckless for my grandson. It was several years ago, and it has been great. He has had no trouble at all. So this year, I thought that I would buy another one. My first mistake, and it is my fault - I went in the store in April and bought the chain for a Christmas present. I had the girl look up on my records to make sure that I was getting the same kind only this one would be longer. I explain to her that it was for Christmas and She sold me one that I agreed on. What she did not tell me was that the chain that I bought before was "solid" and the one that she sold me was "hollow" Another thing she failed to remind me was that buying it that early would stop any warranty that I had when it came time for him to open it and he not like it. (shame on me,) it was written on a sign at the register that I supposedly checked out at. She took my credit card and I stayed at the place where I bought the chain and she bought it back to me. Since it was a Christmas gift, she wrapped it and put it in a bag for me. I brought it home and put it in our safe and did not take it out until Christmas eve. When the child opened it, it had she had just put it in a box, and it was so kinked up because it was just in a pile. We thought at the time, the other one did not do this. When he got it unkinked, there was a very weak link that you could see, so I was so up set. The kind did not even put it on his neck and it was broken. I saved it and he went back to college and I carried it back to the Abilene Store. I took it out of the box and went to fasten it together and noticed that the fastener was broken. When I carried it in and explained to a clerk, she told me that the warranty was not in affect, and that she was sorry that she could not do anything. I told her that I had bought a warranty on it, and she said "oh that is different. She then explained to me that the chain would do this because it was "hollow" I told her that I was not told this and that I would have paid more, if she had told me. I also had taken his old chain earlier to have it cleaned. It was not ready so I left the new chain. I now had both chains in the shop. They called me to pick up the old chain and I voiced my opinion to the new clerk. She told me that since the new chain was "hollow" that I would always have this problem. Which I already knew. I asked if I could trade up and the manager of the store came over and explained to me that She could not do this this, that they only traded up diamonds, I told her that I felt that her employee was untrained that she should have told me that the necklace would kink and also about when I bought the item so early that the warranty would not be covered. She said that her employees were probably not trained about the "hollow" VS "solid but she had better employees now. Gee thanks Lady, that doesn't help me. She also told me that when I bought the first one, the store did not carry the "hollow". I now have the new one left in the store. I picked it up and the girl that I picked it up from had to hear me gripe again. She repeated the solid vs hollow neckless story. She put it in a box, all piled up, I thought a fit and told her that it would just kink with the way that she was giving it back to me. She then put it in a small pouch on a card. I did not remove it or look at it. When I delivered it to the child it had four kinks in it. We were afraid to do anything because I was afraid that we would break it or weaken the links again. I carried it back to the store, A man waited on me, I explained to him. He said that I was mistaken that the neckless was "solid" I explained to him that two of his fellow employees had told me that it was "solid" he told me that I could appeal to the corporate and he did not know what they would say. The manager stepped in and she said that she had already talked with them and nothing could or would be done. He then told me to call the buy back people and they would probably give me three to four hundreds dollars less than what I paid for it, or I could put it on craigs list. But not to expect any more than that. He told me that the chains that they make now, will all do that and that the girl probably did not know, he only knew because he owned one. I then said why did the old one not do it. He said that the new ones just do that and the old ones don't. So to make a long long story short. In my opinion, and it is only my opinion. These people are trained to sell. They do not care if the product is good or not. They do not know what they are selling. I think that I could go get a job in the store tomorrow, and I would be just as good. I would know that the gold chains kink and not to sell them to someone unless they know that about them. The people were very nice and they did listen to my rants and raves. I am sure they are accustomed to it. Go to a qualified store. read more
