The school takes a whole person view of each child and provides them with social and academic opportunities that invite the entire school and family to participate! It reminds me of the old days of education where the school saw itself as a partner to actually teach. My wife and I were really worried she might react the same way here -- but guess what, she's doing so much better at Merryhill! This school truly has empathy and warmth. Ms Gram and Ms Niemand are not just teachers -- they give real mothership. They make my daughter feel secure, trusting, and cared for. My daughter is a highly sensitive child (HSP) -- she feels anxious with too many strangers or changes around her, so it takes time for her to adapt. From day one, both teachers have been incredibly patient and loving. They treat every child equally, with the same care and responsibility. One day my daughter told me about a new boy who cried nonstop during his first week. Every time we came to pick her up, we'd see him closely attached to the teachers -- it was clear he felt safe with them. He literally follows Ms Gram wherever she goes, which says everything about how nurturing they are. Other things I love about this school: parents get monthly reports for their kids, there are regular teacher-parent meetings, and they offer a great variety of lunch options and events for kids to learn and explore. We're so grateful to have found a school that truly understands children and provides such a loving environment.

I was doing all the work and still not getting any help for her, they didn't seem to care :-( After extensive research on elementary schools in Clark County, my husband and I found Bilbray ES. Once we decided that Bilbray was the school for us, we actually moved and bought our current house a block away from Bilbray ES just so our daughter and son could get enrollment into this school. After the other school failed my kids, we meant business! This was a life changing decision for my kids! Bilbray ES has gone out of their way to help my daughter with her Dyslexia and now it is almost unrecognizable in her! She went from an F student who could not read that had to repeat the first grade, to and A/B honor roll student that is in the highest level reading groups in her class! The speech therapist at Bilbray is a miracle worker and my son is thriving with her help. This school has a great staff and they are wonderful with all of the students. Bilbray ES also offers lots of programs at this school that aren't at other schools, such as Drill Team, Tumbling, and Garden Club. They also have lots of family friendly events throughout the year such as carnivals, renaissance fairs, and family nights. If you live in this neighborhood, this is hands down the school you should send your kids to.

Since attending this school, I've noticed my child is a bit more advanced on the academic side compared to her other peers that go to regular in person public schools. Nothing against public schools, this school just works out for us as a family. This school uses real life scenarios in their quarterly projects. For example, they need to research about their dream vacation and how much it cost in real time and create a budget, etc. Surprisingly, as parents, after realizing her dream vacation was definitely more doable budget wise, we were able to actually take her on that dream vacation in less than a year's time. It not only teaches the students, but every assignment and project teaches us as parents as well. We highly recommend this charter school.
