Pulled my child from this school a few years ago and it was one of the best decisions I have made for their education. Sometimes I threaten my child that if they're "not good, I'll send you back to Bilbray". You would think the area would have a better school, but very far from it. Send your kid somewhere else if you can.

What can I say, it's a Five Star school and they have done wonders for my kids, so I give them five…read moreYelp stars! They actually deserve more than five stars, more like six or seven! Currently Bilbray ES is ranked the #2 elementary school in the Clark County School District and that's not too shabby out of almost 300 elementary schools! Actually that's amazing! My kids used to go to another school in the district that I will leave nameless, this school was ranked in the lower 200's and was only a three star school. Needless to say my kids were truly getting left behind and just shuffled along in the mix of kids. My daughter is Dyslexic and that school failed to help her in any way, even after I told the school what she needed. I was doing all the work and still not getting any help for her, they didn't seem to care :-( After extensive research on elementary schools in Clark County, my husband and I found Bilbray ES. Once we decided that Bilbray was the school for us, we actually moved and bought our current house a block away from Bilbray ES just so our daughter and son could get enrollment into this school. After the other school failed my kids, we meant business! This was a life changing decision for my kids! Bilbray ES has gone out of their way to help my daughter with her Dyslexia and now it is almost unrecognizable in her! She went from an F student who could not read that had to repeat the first grade, to and A/B honor roll student that is in the highest level reading groups in her class! The speech therapist at Bilbray is a miracle worker and my son is thriving with her help. This school has a great staff and they are wonderful with all of the students. Bilbray ES also offers lots of programs at this school that aren't at other schools, such as Drill Team, Tumbling, and Garden Club. They also have lots of family friendly events throughout the year such as carnivals, renaissance fairs, and family nights. If you live in this neighborhood, this is hands down the school you should send your kids to.

My daughter left crying, and so did I! It made me realize how much we appreciated everyone and everything about this school. The coolest gesture was to gift every graduate a certificate with a picture of their cap and gown portrait. WOW !! I just imagine those parents that are out there struggling wishing they can afford the picture and couldn't , opening up the certificate to that beautiful picture. Thank you staff for your positive impact in my daughter's life. You will be missed

Somerset Academy has been my school for 8.5 years of my life (Kindergarten to 7th). I am 12 now…read moreand I'm here to tell you why I choose 2 stars. Kindergarten through 2nd were my best years here, every other year after were not the best. A thing currently wrong about this school is that students are too scared to tell any staff about which students are bullying or possibly threatening them which upsets me because the staff could help a lot. Most of the kids here are horrible, racist and rude and staff are barely doing ANYTHING about it! I mean come on? There are students scared to come to school because some of these students are so rude? Ive seen some kids get bullied so much the past couple years and if i was them i wouldn't want to come to school at all. The education here i feel is a bit below average, students here are smart but some teachers are bad at explaining and shy students are afraid to ask for help. I'm a fast learner but sometimes I get stuck on something and just never learn the topic. Teachers need to focus on certain students that may need the extra help so possibly give more tutoring opportunities for students? I have been in trouble at the school before and I would say it was handled nicely. I mean staff were encouraging me to open up about what happened and didn't yell at me or anything but im not short tempered like some students which is probably making some of us scared to talk to you guys because you cant keep your composure when students get upset or angry at you or someone else which makes me pretty upset. I mean I have recently moved to a school people would consider "gangster" but it already seems much better than Somerset Aliante. I don't understand why this school is rated so well especially considering the fact some students have been involved in fights and conflict which haven't been told to staff about. But thanks for the effort. My favorite teachers/staff here are Ms. Glodfelter (2nd), Ms Buell (5th), Mrs. Sok (4th), Ms. Jaimes (6th), Ms. Matyszczyk (6-8), Ms. Smith (5th), Ms. Gaxiola (k-5th), Coach Harvey (K-5th), Ms, Brackenbury (6th), Ms. Davis (Assistant). Thank you!

Anyone who wants to put trust in someone to care for their children, this is it! I will definitely recommend Candil Hall to all my friends and family!

One year my daughter had 3 different teachers. Each year they seem to have all new teachers and staff is constantly coming and going- other than about half of the teachers who are all related to the owner. The school is family owned which can contribute to a family feel of the school overall. However, if you are not related to the family, personal friends with the family, or volunteer with the school, your child and your family will be outcasted and excluded. Only some kids are invited to play sports. Kids they do not want on their sports teams are not even invited to try out. The principal/owner Mr. Diller regularly yells and swears at the kids. He is demeaning and borderline abusive to the students. Candil Hall also allows bullying and in some cases promotes or praises students who bully. Children who are bullied are not protected by the school. They get no help even when they feel so unsafe they don't want to go to school. Student to student threats are not taken seriously. It's incredibly disappointing the lack of concern and support shown to children at this school. While my child did leave there more advanced academically, she also left there with psychological trauma, fear, distrust of schools and teachers, and overwhelming feelings of confusion because she felt so unsafe in the place that she should feel the safest. I regret ever sending my child to this school and wish I could undo all of the trauma Candil Hall has caused her. Additionally, if you ever have any issues with the teachers, the staff, the family, etc. you will be talked negatively about and they will spread rumors to other parents about you. This school is not worth it, please look elsewhere.

Early intervention is highly important for help with children with special needs so they can succeed later in life. This school is not up to the task to discovering those needs and assisting your child. Right now 1 out of 56 children are autistic. That's not counting any of the other children with additional needs. My daughter did not want to integrate with the preschool classroom. They thought it was purely a behavioral problem. We did everything they asked. She was "super smart" (their words) so they wanted to keep her, but she couldn't handle being with the group. Though she was still listening/learning from afar (again their words) They tried to physically force her resulting in major meltdowns. They ended up kicking her out. They made me feel like a failure of a parent and my child wasn't exactly excited to experience school again after that. With the assistance of CCSD and her doctor she was diagnosed with high functioning autism. She's doing great in a general education classroom and still super smart. My point is pick a school that will help your child no matter what the circumstances. This school isn't going to do that.

Instead of hearing what my daughter had to say they asked the bullier and his friend if my daughter was the bully. My daughter is super sweet she has never gotten into trouble. My child does not want to go this school anymore. They say they are against bullies but in truth they really don't give 2 shits. My child has told me that she does not feel safe and refused to go to school this week. She has told her teacher which he has made her switch tables to get away from the kid. He has been bullying my child and making rude remarks due to her birthmark on her forehead stating did your mom drop you on your face when you were a baby or did she hit you with the frying pan. We have tried to have a one on one with the school but they refused. They talked to my child without a parent present, she felt as if they were retaliated her for being honest. They would not take my child's statement that she has done nothing wrong. They asked the bullies friend and of course being a friend is going to stick up for them. They didn't even talk to her teacher about this, my child has developed anxiety due to this torment and how they treat her. This is by far the worst school to send your child to. They are not there for the kids that are getting picked on. Don't send your child to this school if you care for their safety. My daughter does not feel safe at all with this school. We are removing her and will enroll her to a better school where the teachers actually give a damn. If I could I would not rate this school at all!!!!!
