We had an absolutely spectacular day on the Kaweah with KWA. We ended up being the only people in the group, but that didn't dissuade the team in the least from doing our trip. From the moment we walked onto the property we were made to feel at home, Mike, one of the owners greeted us warmly and showed us where to park and check in. After we filled out the basic paperwork our assigned guide, Sam, walked us through a basic painless orientation, and then we were off--my wife, Sam & I in one raft, Mike and another gentleman in another raft, and Briana, a truly badass lady, in her kayak. The river was flowing mightily, and we navigated through rapid after rapid with Sam's expert precision. It was exhilarating and beautiful. We stopped for lunch at Sierra Subs-- they had taken our orders at the beginning of the trip and brought the food down right as we arrived. It was outstanding and fun to chat with the crew sitting on the porch next to the river. A really kind and authentic crew of people, who clearly do it for the love of the sport. We have gone rafting before and this was by far our most amazing adventure. We were able to take our 10 year old son and still have an exciting adventure with amazing guides. For 2 rookie rafters, our guides Scott and Jr were extremely experienced and great coaching us down the rapids. We fell in a couple times but came out laughing with "paddles up" salute. Our family took the family tour of the lower river, and we had an amazing time! There was a good orientation at the beginning, which I appreciated since most of us had no rafting experience. Our guide, Junior, was extremely skilled and put us at ease. Our three boys (ages 10-12) had a blast. There were several rapids we went through, Class I-II/III, with stretches of calm water where we could get out and swim a bit. There was someone downriver set up to take our photos too, which was really nice. The whole experience was great, start to finish. We can't wait to come back and do it again! read more

We had a great time rafting with Kaweah Whitewater. Steve was an excellent guide and made my two boys (age 7 & 8) comfortable and alleviated their nervousness. They had such a blast that they immediately asked to come back the next day, which we did. :). I was impressed by the level of professionalism. They had safety kayakers just in case anyone went in the water. The PFDs and helmets were new, unlike the beat up and worn out gear you get at most rafting places. And the photos came out great. (I usually pass on the pics, but my kids were grinning so big I had to purchase them.). I don't think the other companies have pro photographers on each run. Recommended for any family headed into town or out of Sequoia NP. read more

My 2nd time to Sequoia NP and 1st time White Water rafting. I'm no spring chicken, so I opted for the family rafting tour. About 2.5 hours from arrival to leaving back to camp. As expected, there are forms to sign and safety lectures to listen to. It's better to be over informed and educated. 2023, brought recored amounts of snow fall and the BEST conditions for white water rafting. Our tour guide, Sam, from WV, was an awesome tour guide. Very informative introduction and personable too. They was a few little exciting Rocky drops, and it was amazing! Refreshing cool water and fun too.... Listen to your tour guide and trust the process. The raft behind us held a 7, 11,12, and 14 year old and did great. This rafting tour company offers photos to purchase, not true for any others 3 river tour companies. Highly recommend! I want to go again before I leave my Three Rivers camping trip! read more

Booked the High Adventure Upper Trip 9 am and turns out I'm the only one who signed up for the morning so I got the private VIP treatment, which never happens I was told. And they usually only go upto July 4th but b/c of the massive snowfalls during this past winter, they still have snow melt, which is happening only 16-18 hours before you see the water flow. So lucky me all around! There still was the safety boat ahead of us with 2 guides and just me and my guide, "Junior" Mike Curren in our raft. The owner made me a little nervous when he asked if I was ready for a 9' waterfall and why I signed up for the High Adventure trip vs the Family Adventure Lower trip when I haven't done a class IV/III trip before. Well, I wanted the high adventure, lol. Mike, my guide, was very kind and attentive. He explained all safety rules and made me feel safe. I did have to work and paddle since there was only 2 of us in the raft but it's perfectly doable. I only fell in once going down a waterfall but was able to get right back in the raft with the help of Mike. I was out of the water by 11:30 since we didn't run into any problems. I highly recommend this company and especially Mike as the guide. First time white water rafting and I loved the trip! And I still had time to visit Sequoia National Park, only 20 min from park entrance, afterwards before heading out of the area. read more

I'm a 54 year old frumpy mom and I came out of this experience saying it is an absolutely must do for the family especially if you have teens. If you need to shake off the last two years - this will do it! Put this on your bucket list. If you have any anxiety stomp that $hit to the ground. You've got this! The professional guides have you covered. My two teen girls did fantastic. If they love Disneyland's Grizzly ride this is 10x better. My older daughter is standing a bit taller and that child-like laugh is back. My 16 year old is plotting our next visit already because she was sad when it ended. We did the 9am family half trip. If we could stay another night I'm sure we'd go again. Highlights: falling out because I didn't keep my "feet-belt" on at the beginning, cold swim on a hot day, paddling in sync with hubby, getting back that gratefulness for genuinely nice people, nature, and to be alive. Family rafting trip from hell. Of course we understand the waiver we signed and that we take our own risks but here is our story. July 2023 we decided to take the 2 hour family trip (class 2-3 on the website) last minute after visiting the park. We (2 people) were grouped together with an older couple and their 2 grandsons who were about 6 years old. We had a bit of a rocky start getting caught in a tree then on the first or second rapid we got stuck on a rock when our guide decided to jump out, she slipped and our raft started going and somehow she managed to jump back in. Then we got stuck in another tree. Then about half way down she said it would be really important to forward paddle to avoid a tree sticking out in the river. Well you guessed it. We ran full speed directly into the tree lifting up the whole raft, the grandpa went flying out and then the raft capsized on top of me and the grandma. My partner slammed her leg on a rock and I was stuck under the raft struggling to get out and get air when finally I got out another raft said to swim to it and I was pulled up by my hands twisting my elbow. I had lost my sunglasses, wedding band and shoes. Thank god everyone was okay, all the rafts got to shore and we all reconvened to our original raft again. We had 2 rapids left at this point and down the first we slammed into a rock which popped the left side of the raft, so now the raft was filling up with water and we had to take the last rapid down basically with one person paddling water flying up over the top. We finished in a dried up lake to climb 10 feet up rocks and over gravel to the bus. Another guide said he had only seen one other time someone capsize on that tree, and our guide didn't even talk to us when we got out, she was so upset about the whole ordeal. I'm not a rafting guide but the rapids and water level were intense that day and no one mentioned that to us and also I'm not sure who decided to put 2 inexperience people with 2 older people who had trouble hearing with 2 little kids and then a novice guide to lead us. We had zero control over our raft bc we basically only had 2 people paddling. The river literally made us it's b****. I wish I would have just signed up for the higher level ride because then I would have expected it to be intense and higher risk of capsizing but this was not even close to what I expected and I don't think the guides expected this either. Of course there is always *risks* but damn we were definitely not set up for success. I'd say this is a great opportunity for thrill seekers and people who have rafted before but not for beginners and definitely not for children under 12. read more
