Super delicious ramen!!! We especially loved the perfectly cooked "jammy" egg and the way that it was so nicely packaged. Everything was very tasty! We'll definitely be returning!!! read more

GTG. It's a catering biusiness. I got two ramen soups. One contain the ingredients: bean sprouts, ramen, two slices if pork, half an egg. The other container,: soup. On a rainy day, soup is the best. It was good. While going their i saw this elderly lady dressed with white cardigan and a dress. She lost a shoe while crossing the light and was bare foot going forward. I hope she is OK. I noticed on Carroll st, there is senior housing. Hopefully, she went back inside. read more

Had teriyaki salmon delivered to work by forkable. So tasty and delicious. I loved the side of veggies (great variety). I loved the rice, which had a lovely flavor. And of course the salmon was nicely cooked and not dry. I appreciated that the dish was not over sauced. Will definitely order again! read more

Kawashima's Kitchen - Ramen noodles, karake, gyoza - Caterers Near Me - San Francisco, California

Kenichi is an awesome dude and we loved working with him to cater our Covid-friendly wedding picnic reception! From the back-and-forth emails where Kenichi helped us to design a menu full of variety to our food tasting time and days leading up to the event, Kenichi was straightforward in communication and we appreciated his no-bs, honest demeanor. He also helped us to order beautiful packaging and utensils for our fancy bento boxes. Our guests raved about how delicious the food was! Our personal favorites were the fillet mignon tataki (must get), popcorn prawn, and salmon wellington (we tried this during our tasting but this was modified for our actual event as the wrap stuck to our packaging). Working with him was easy, we would hire him again, and highly recommend him for any event you're planning. Thank you Kenichi for making our day special and our guests happy, we appreciate you! read more

Had them cater a small gathering. Sushi was perfect. Grilled fish was done exactly right and the presentation of this dish, as well as the rest, was awesome. There was plenty of food and lots of leftovers. We will definitely use them again for our next San Francisco gathering. read more

I had the bento box with salmon glazed with teriyaki sauce, California rolls, Inari (tofu skin filled with rice), dumplings, brussel sprouts and very small sides. The meal was very well balanced, not too salty, and was definitely full at the end. Would definitely order from this vendor again! read more

TL;DR = Kawashima's Kitchen serves low quality meat. I do not recommend ordering from here. Disclaimer: I ordered my dish via Forkable, so perhaps Kawashima's Kitchen serves lesser quality dishes through its catering contracts (since you, the customer, can't really do anything about it except complain to Forkable or your employer). I cannot comment on the in-person experience, but this leaves a terrible first impression, and I am unlikely going to order from them again. I ordered the Simmered Sukiyaki Beef (see photos). I did not open my dish until arriving home, and to my dismay, the "beef" was mostly fat. I separated the fat content from the beef to show you the quality of "beef" that this restaurant is serving its customers, and what you would be consuming if you just ate it without looking. I understand that sukiyaki beef should have fat for the flavor, however, this is unacceptable. I'm disappointed that their chef or manager at Kawashima's thinks this is OK to serve, or perhaps they are hoping nobody will notice because the meat was buried under a bed of vegetables. On a side note, the veggies, rice, and gyoza were quite tasty, as it was not too salty, and a balanced flavor of sweet and savory. Hopefully this review will serve as a reminder to Kawashima's Kitchen that we (i.e., customers and employers) are paying good money for the food we order, and it's just disappointing and frustrating when businesses cut corners in quality. read more

Poor quality food. Very expensive for what is offering. Grilled fish and sushi have bad smell. Unhealthy.

A 5 Star Review! We had Kawashima kitchen for our office lunch catering and they blew our staff's minds. They really did go above and beyond with their service. They had the soups set up and COOKING on one side, then had the toppings on another side of the office, then utensils and everything on another side. Terry was amazing and super friendly and made sure everything went well and that all our staff's stomachs were happy. Truly a unique experience for our office and we will definitely order from them again! read more

3.5 stars We got catering from Kawashima's Kitchen, and they had good food. It was not extraordinary but, for the most part, tasty. I tried... - Steamed tofu - California roll (just had imitation crab. Too much mayo) - Veggie roll (shiitake mushrooms) The reason for giving just 3 stars is that, while the food was good, salad leaves and steamed tofu taste the same whether they make it or I do, so it's nothing to write home about. That said, it was a welcome change to weekday lunch monotony. read more

Overall, 3 stars for the food and 5 stars for the service, so I averaged it and gave them 4 stars. Service-wise, the staff was super friendly and enthusiastic, even making sure to direct us to the three different stations they had set up since we were all waiting at one station thinking that was the only line. They had two different broths (spicy tonkotsu miso or vegeterian shoyu) and meats (spicy chicken or pork - as well as tofu for vegetarians). I was even told that you could mix and match so I ended up getting half of each broth. But the pork looked much more appetizing than the chicken, so I stuck to that for meat (downside is they only gave three pieces per order). For garnish, they had seaweed, green onion, kimchi, and wakame. Taste-wise, the soup was decently flavored but seemed a bit light for ramen broth, but it could also be because I mixed the broths, so I didn't get the full flavor from either. Oh well, that's my bad. Mostly, I was disappointed with the noodles as they were way too soft for ramen noodles (not chewy at all). I chalked that up to the nature of them needing to prepare ingredients ahead of time (so they probably precooked the noodles then reheated them when serving) for catering purposes, but that definitely took a lot away from the dish. On the up side, the pork was delicious and I wish they had given me more pieces :) Oh, they also had some sushi pieces, but I was too excited about the ramen and forgot to try those. Overall, not the best ramen I have had, but not bad and definitely better than "fast food" style ramen I've had at food courts and the like. Top class service and solid ramen, so if you're looking for catered ramen, definitely give them a try! read more

Kawashima's Kitchen - ramen in half spicy miso broth and half shoyu broth with pork and tofu :) - Caterers Near Me - San Francisco, California

I used Kawashima's Kitchen for my teams 1st in person Team Day in over a year. (We're all vaccinated and masked) 2 days before the event, my caterer cancelled on me. Kawashima's Kitchen saved the day! They were extremely fast to respond, made individually packaged food, and was able to accommodate all the different dietary restrictions we have at my company. (Vegan, Vegetarian, Epipen level allergies) 50 meals total. He was there about 10 minutes early and helped me set everything up. The whole gang loved it and it was super affordable! (No really. I surveyed the staff and food got a 10/10) 100% will order from them again. Highly recommend! read more

Kawashima's Kitchen is a wonderful catering service that provides a variety of Japanese food such as ramen! They came to do catering at my office on a Monday afternoon to feed hundreds of hungry tummies. They boil the noodles on the spot and then pour in either a spicy miso tonkatsu broth or a vegetarian soy-based broth depending on preference. From there all the toppings are self-serve such as spicy chicken, pork, kimchi, seaweed, green onions, tofu, etc. The ramen wasn't the greatest in the world, but pretty good for something made very quickly. The noodles were thin and long with a slightly springy texture for a good chew. The chicken and pork were absolutely great, being tender and well marinated. The broth was excellent as well with it have a good miso flavor and a slight amount of spiciness though it was missing a lot of the richness I expect in a tonkatsu broth. All in all, I enjoyed Kawashima's Kitchen quite a bit and would love to get to try more sometime! read more

Solid catering experience with Kawashima's Kitchen! We had bento boxes delivered to our office exactly on time. Their salmon, chicken teriyaki, inari sushi, sushi rolls, gyoza, and brussels sprouts were amazing. Saved the brussels sprouts for last because it was just SO delicious and flavorful. How did they do that?! I'd love to try their ramen -- heard it's amazing. Wish I could order here more often / whenever I'd like, but they only do catering. Definitely ordering from this place again! Leaving this as a 4-star because I need to try the ramen :) read more

Very nice first experience having catered ramen to my workplace. I am not a fan of ramen but I liked it, and it was hot, as there were caterers there in the room, with the pots and heaters serving for us. That was a great touch, considering the amount of people in a medium size company where you end up eating cold food when is catered. I liked the flavor and texture but I would allow customers to add more pieces of meat, one slice of pork is not enough for me, plus i would have more items to add. This is what we got: -Tonkotsu spicy miso or Shoyu broth -Customized Takara Futo Men(Traditional Kyoto noodle maker in LA) -Chashu pork -Sambal spicy chicken -Kimchi -Tofu -Wakame -Negi -Nori -Soft Boiled egg -Kochujyan miso They also provided some Pho noodle and Vegan soup for vegans. Overall was good and I would like to try again. read more

This is catering!? A pretty solid 4 to me Lightly cornstarched tofu-- I've had tofu basicallly every single day this week, and this was my favorite rendition. Light soy / teriyaki flavor, with just a bit of pickles sprinkled on top to give it an intermittent crunch. 3.75/5 Brussel sprouts in vinegar / soy-- a bit soft for my taste (I like my brussels crunchy), but the flavor was pretty alright. The middle wasn't quite flavored, but the outer leaves were good. They had sliced these in half to be easily forkable. 3.75/5 Tofu and beef-- this looked like the kind of dish your mom would make if you were sick. Simple, homemade looking comfort food. Beef had been marinated a good while, and was sweet, easily chewable, and had lots of fatty parts hanging off the side. I thought the tofu was going to be of the softer variety, but it was still medium-firm. Slightly marinated. 4/5 sans tofu Salad was a-ok, with cooked / almost meaty in taste carrots (how?!) that added depth to the flavor. I normally avoid carrots when I can, but these definitely accentuated the salad. Salad was clearly fresh, and dressing gave good flavor (hard to tell what it was flavor-wise, but a rice wine vinegarette) 3.5/5 The chicken was probably the weakest of the items, a bit on the dry side of things even though it was dark meat, and didn't particularly stand out 3.25/5. Brown rice was rice-- not overcooked and fluffy. Easily the most memorable Friday lunch I've had since starting my new job 4 months ago! read more

Great caterer. We got them for lunch at work and it's been a highlight meal for sure. The food arrived promptly and did not disappoint. There was a wide diversity of dishes and all were delicious. The sushi was solid, the salad was creative, the brussel sprouts were decadent, and gyoza were addictively good. read more

Tasty, and almost guilt free dining. The brussel sprouts were so crispy and carmelized. Sorry to the couple vegetarians in the office if I took too much, their brussel sprouts were addictive. Healthy quinoa salad and tofu were other light vegetarian options that fellow omnivores could enjoy to balance out the meal. I'd have to say though the quinoa salad was a bit odd with the quinoa and arugula mix. The chicken teriyaki thighs wasn't drenched in an overly sweet sauce, and were skinless but still moist and almost tasted like white meat. The sauce could've been a bit thicker though to stick to the chicken. The only semi unhealthy item were the veggie gyozas due to being fried, but they had a spinach wrapper, and I hate shiitake mushrooms but the veggie filling which had shiitakes were so good & the flavors were well balanced; dare I say, if I hadn't seen the description card, I wouldn't have known the shiitakes were in the potstickers? If you need catering for your office or a party, and are looking for a taste bud satisfying yet healthy Japanese meal, I suggest Kawashima's Kitchen. You won't be disappointed. read more

Had lunch catered from Kawashima for the office. We ordered: rice with stir fry veggies, green gyoza, chicken gyoza, teriyaki chicken, california roll, brussel sprouts, inari, and double fried tofu. I found that their food was really sweet in general and drenched in sauce. After eating them, I felt extremely thirsty, which tells me one thing, their food was either heavy with MSG or loaded with salt. read more

Kenichi Kawashima created the BEST bento boxes I have ever eaten. For my 50th birthday, during Omicron, I wanted guests to have a single-serving meal so they could feel safe. And I wanted something special- not your typical chicken teriyaki bento. Many of my guests complimented that this was the best bento they'd ever eaten too! The delicious bento contained California sushi rolls, salmon, karaage chicken, popcorn shrimp, seaweed salad, mixed vegetables including Brussel sprouts and gyoza. He made a compatible vegan option for my vegan friends with tofu and inari. The bento boxes were exquisitely presented with color and an orchid flower. Most of all, Kenichi-San delivered them to my home 30 miles away from SF and was incredibly patient in waiting for the final numbers. He was easy to work with and very responsive by email and phone. I was incredibly impressed with his kindness and generosity!! He noticed my email signature line and went out of his way to watch my documentary film about organ donation. He was so touched he shared the story with his team. I am so grateful to have found Kawashima Kitchen. I will definitely order from Kawashima -San again too!! I am telling all my friends about him too! read more

We ordered catering for an afternoon Bridal Shower. Perfect mix of dishes for everyone to enjoy: full of flavor with varying levels of spice and deep umami. The petit fours were beautiful and not too sweet. Chef Kenichi was very communicative about menu options for our budget and group, how many trays it would be so I could plan setup accordingly, delivery was on time. The plating and presentation was wonderful with pops of colors from the edible decor. Some examples in photos. Will keep them in mind to try a ramen bar catering in the future. read more

Ramen day is the best day! Every time Kawashima's caters for us I am sad the next day I can't keep eating their amazing ramen. Finding good veggie ramen is tough, but their broth is thick, savory and delicious. Also the team is always smiling and friendly, which makes the food taste even better! I wish they had a restaurant I could go visit, but in the meantime, I'll just wait for ramen day at the office! read more

I haven't even finished my bowl of ramen but feel the need to write a review. This ramen is AMAZING. They way they prepared the ramen is legit. They portioned out the ramen in advance, brought a big vat of simmering water, and dunked each portion of ramen in till it was at the perfect temperature and consistency to serve each guest as they walked up to the ramen bar. The noodles are the exact level of chewiness you want. Now the broth. I requested a mix: half of the spicy Tonkatsu broth and half of the shoyu. Wow, just wow. The broth is so rich and flavorful and salty and full of umami. And at the perfect temperature where it didn't burn me but stayed hot throughout my meal. All add-ins for the ramen were self-serve at the bar, except for pork and chicken which are served to you. Portions are perfect, and the add-ins are everything you'd normally find in a ramen bowl. I am impressed with Kawashima's Kitchen food, and equally impressed with their service. My only complaint is that they are caterers, and I can't go to a restaurant to get their delicious ramen! I would go all the time!! ;-) read more

I cannot rave enough about Kawashima! They are a preferred vendor for my company and they go the extra mile to provide amazing food for our catered lunches. Our clients have shared that their hosted Ramen Bar makes office lunches feel like a party. Their staff is quick, efficient, kind, and engaging with guests. I'm considering using them for wedding parties as well...how fun would it be to have a late night ramen bar after dancing and drinking!? More about the food: The ramen is so fresh and unctuous. It fills you up, but isnt a gut bomb that makes you want to lay down and take a nap. Their Chicken is delicious, not greasy and full of flavor. The brussel sprouts can stand alone as a meal. Their orders are always packed neatly and labelled clearly (no sloshes or searching through un marked trays, yay!) portions are generous, orders are on time every time. SO important! Once on a rainy day they even helped our staff load up the food in the car for an extremely large order (100 people). Now its up to you to see for yourself! read more

Kawashima came in to serve our company of 70+ for lunch today and it was delicious!! We had a ramen bar that consisted of spicy tonkatsu and vegetarian soy broth with chasu pork belly, sambal spicy chicken and tofu. The toppings were plentiful and although some of my coworkers were not familiar with some of the options, they really enjoyed it too. :) I've never had ramen catered before and the quality and taste of everything was really great. **review is for catering only** We've had them cater twice. First experience: Bento boxes and sushi rolls. The salmon was great but the chicken was dry (some thought it was pork, but it wasn't). The sushi didn't taste particularly fresh, I couldn't taste the fish inside, everything was mashed into a single flavor. Edible but not something I would choose to eat if I was paying for myself. Second experience: Ramen for the regular people, bento boxes for those afraid of gluten (1 of which is actually allergic). They sent out a little man to cook for us! He had a big pot of water to cook the noodles, and another 2 steaming pots for the vegetable broth and the spicy pork broth. I had the spicy broth with chicken and pork added. The chicken was spiced with what tasted like packets that come from the top ramen packets (you know, like from college? I'm not complaining, it was good). The pork was very tender. He also brought all the little fixings to add to your ramen bowl; tofu, green onions, kimchi and the like. VERY GOOD If the bento boxes were somewhat decent this would be a solid 4 stars. read more

They catered our work event and I really enjoyed their food. They brought many options but I got Teriyaki Chicken, Green Gyoza, Chicken Gyoza, brown rice and roasted brussels sprouts on my plate. The roasted brussels sprouts were probably my favorite out of the pack seeing that they were packed with flavor and seasoning. The green & chicken gyoza were both tasty and something I would put on my plate given another catered event but I probably wouldn't order them if I was buying my own meal. Lastly the teriyaki chicken and brown rice was a great combination, their teriyaki sauce is a lot thinner than lots of other sauces I have come across but was just as sweet.
