Absolutely incredible vibes! Love the music here. The musical taste is varied and on point! Don't have to put headphones in because the music in the cafe is always better! Not only that, the coffee is superb, they really take pride in their drinks and they aren't too expensive! The lattes are incredible and the service is always great. And you aren't forced to buy anything, you can just hang out. They aren't nazi's about bringing in a water bottle or something. Also, they keep their tables and floors clean! This is one big gripe I have with a lot of cafes in the area including Starbucks, they usually just have crumbs everywhere and it's filthy, this place is consistently clean, the workers are doing incredible, and it's easier to tip because the lattes don't cost $13 a piece! We always love coming here for breakfast. Some days it's very busy and some days slow, but the staff is always friendly and the food is always delicious. After seeing the food special for the month, a jalapeño popper burrito, I mentioned that I was interested in trying it, but could not have the eggs. The counter staff told me they could substitute tofu, eggs, and that they were very good. I will definitely try this next time! Although I am not vegan, egg set off my arthritis, so finding places that are willing to substitute for me is always a wonderful thing. Another thing we always enjoy is the music. I can't explain how much this car burrito made my day. This was my first time trying their sausage breakfast burrito. I'm always iffy on ordering breakfast burritos because they are so dear to my heart. And I was having an especially crazy work day today so...stakes were high. Kawa knocked it out of the park. $10 for honestly a pretty good sized burrito with all the goods and a little kick to it which y'all know I love. Btw the inside and outside is super cute with plenty of tables to sit. Great spot for meeting up with friends, business meetings, etc. Staff were so nice and very speedy even though it was pretty full for 11am ish on a Monday. will be back! Met a friend here mid-morning on a Wednesday. Seems like a random location, but their signage made it easy to find. I ordered right away without a wait, although there were a decent amount of people enjoying the cafe already. Seating was a little random and could be scarce. I had a decaf oat milk latte with maple & vanilla, half sweet. Very, very good! I usually only order my lattes with vanilla, but the nice barista spoke highly of their maple so I'm glad I gave it a try. My friend had a smoothie and said it was good. Very delicious lattes and burrittos ( burritto with kielbasa and the pigs in a blanket with an excellent sriracha mayo. Atmosphere is still amazing with retro classic music playing in background. Staff even prepared a teddy graham latte to-go for another family member and it was as good the next morning as my coffee in the coffee shop. Thank you. Visited near noon and the food and drink were the same quality as during a regular breakfast morning time. Deceptively large coffee shop tucked away in a strip mall. When I arrived about 10:30 it is was moderately busy with most of the tables occupied and a pleasant background noise of conversation. They have a number of seasonal specials including the Peppermint Bark Hot Chocolate. When they ask if this is a to go or drink in, this is not just a tax question. In cafe drinking is the way to go as they serve their drinks in real cups, massively improves the already excellent taste. The Peppermint Bark Hot Chocolate was wonderful and the cream appeared to be real whipped cream as it didn't instantly dissolve, effortlessly supporting the chocolate syrup applied across the top. If I am in the area I will definitely visit again. This coffee shop deserves better exposure, a hidden gem! read more

The coffee boost was just what we needed before a long drive home. The baristas were very friendly and helpful. They got the initial order wrong, but were quick to fix it. We've been coming to Kawa for about a year and a half and it has been our favorite but our most recent visits have been disappointing: very long waits for coffees and out of our favorite chocolate chip cookies. Nothing horrible, but today was a long wait for a lukewarm warm hot chai and even longer wait for a forgotten cookie warmed up in a rush and mostly inedible because it was burnt. Didn't want to wait in line to address the cookie. But we are finding a new favorite coffee place. We can't always come in when it's a slow time here. read more

We frequented this hidden coffee spot when Bf lived in the neighboring apartment. They have non dairy options and several creative lattes. I've only ever had the iced Canuck which is a maple syrup breve. Yum! Sweet but not too sweet. Today we returned for the first time in over a year since bf moved away. It was busy, much busier than we'd ever seen, given it is Saturday morning. The barista up front was busy fidgeting on his IPads when we arrived. He fidgeted on it for several minutes before taking our order and thanking us for our patience. There seemed to be several regulars that the baristas recognized. After we ordered we waited 25 minutes for our order. There was a good 5 people that ordered after us too. There were 5 baristas working so not sure why the wait was so long. The one barista was taking orders instead of helping making drinks. They even served an order that was taken after us, before us! The iced Canuck was as good as I remembered, and Bf liked his iced chai with espresso. Overall a cute spot if you have the time to wait. Prepare to wait on a weekend. This hidden gem is tucked away between two buildings in a small strip mall. At first I couldn't find it but then saw the small sign indicating that it was in the back. I got a cafe americano with medium roast coffee. It was fantastic. No cream or sugar needed! I decided to treat myself and went for the coffee cake that I had warmed. When I dug in for my first bite the scent of cinnamon filled the air. That totally caught me by surprise but I knew that I was in for a treat. The outside of the cake had a wonderful crunchy crust of cinnamon and sugar. The inside was moist and delicious. It was to die for. read more

Very good coffee and delicious pastries. Alright social distancing practices. We stopped in for a quick bite on a long road trip. The staff were plenty friendly and all wore masks, but there were quite a lot of people in there maskless (yes I know, you need to remove your mask to drink coffee - but there just seemed to be too many people to close). I had a Harry Potter latte and it was delicious. Tasted like good espresso and the butterscotch was a nice lil treat. The blueberry muffin was a little on the sweet side but still good and I enjoyed the heck out of it. It was a generous portion too. They have some gluten free goods and all pastry are individually wrapped in saran wrap. They do make the gluten free pastry in house though, so my friend with celiac held off for fear of cross contamination. We didn't ask a ton of questions though, so it's possible it's safe. If you're celiac, just call in advance to see if you feel comfortable. Would stop in again if in Colorado springs in a post-covid world. Today I had some of the worst customer service I've had in a long time. I used to come to Kawa very often and was excited to bring my wife and show her. We walked in with books and laptops in our hands, and before we ordered we had told the barista that we were going to get a lot of work done. After ordering and waiting close to 10 minutes for our drinks, the barista had let us know that they don't have WiFi until after 1pm when asked what the WiFi password was. I totally get if they don't have WiFi, but the frustrating part is holding a laptop talking about using it and the barista not informing us about them not having WiFi. On top of all of this, my wife didn't love her drink so I politely asked if they make new drinks for customers. They said no, which is totally understandable. The issue with this is the way I was spoken too. After the barista had talked to me disrespectfully, we asked for a to go cup and left. I'm know that Kawa is an awesome spot, I'm just disappointed with the way I was treated. I'm not high maintenance, and in fact this is the first review I have ever written. I just wish that a little more courtesy and kindness could have been given. read more

I visited Kawa Coffee for the first time last week and went back a few days later because their coffee and baked goods are that desirable! My first time in, the baristas were super friendly and helpful in helping me come up with my coffee creation and about how much creamer/sugar to add to the cold brew. They have a huge selection of syrups/flavorings to add to your coffee as well as a huge selection of homemade pastries! The Nutella cold brew is my new favorite coffee drink and tastes like a caffeinated, creamy version of chocolate milk. The baristas are also rockstars and handle rushes amazingly! My favorite coffee shop in the Springs. Not just because the location is convenient but their lattes are consistently delicious. Most of the milks and syrups are made in-house, and the owner has fabulous food recipes - the breakfast burrito and biscuits & gravy being a couple of my favorites. The sandwiches are also very good and the food is reasonably priced and you get a good portion - not bird food like at a lot of coffee shops. Everyone is very friendly and they feature local artists/writers as well. It's a smaller shop with outdoor seating, so you may not get a seat during peak hours. But the vibe is on-point - positive and uplifting. The employees are my absolute favorite. Friendly and they remember my oatmilk even when I forget. Love it. They've had some very interesting latte flavors as well if you're into that type of thing - like the Tucan Sam latte that legit tasted like the leftover milk after eating Fruit Loops, especially with oatmilk. Might sound weird but I wouldn't have it any other way. I like to brew the beans they sell at home as well. I couldn't find it the first time I looked for the place but you'll find the lot in the back of the strip mall if you drive around the DMV and under the breezeway, where you can sit and enjoy a beautiful view of Pikes Peak. You can also park in the front and walk through the breezeway; store is in the back on the right, can't miss it. They even have dog treats in the front for your furry friend. They do not hesitant at accommodating various ways of eating. I've found it difficult at some coffee shops to find food that I can eat, but Kawa offers a selection. Best small, local coffee shop ever. They make their own flavor syrups and almond milk. Super creative recommendations for coffee drinks. Pastries and sandwiches are delicious, with many vegan and gf options. Savory food is amazing. Staff is friendly and helpful, with very little employee turnover. Saturday mornings and the weekday lunch rush can get busy but the wait is always worth it and the line usually moves quickly. Nice seating areas both inside and out in the covered breezeway. Always very clean. A couple of wishes: I wish they were open on Sundays! And I wish they'd label all their pastries because I feel guilty asking for the breakdown when the line is long. Kawa is a five minute bike ride from my house and I have to stop myself from going more than a few times a week. You won't accidentally come across it, tho; someone needs to show you the first time (kinda hidden in a breezeway).
