Chapel Theatre - 11/22/2025 - Mr Burns: A Post Electric Play was so great!

It was a touch weird to see the performers with head set microphones and also holding microphones but also having a bit aggressive on the sound. It is a small space and seemed to be set to levels that would sound a venue twice this size. Seat comfort can always be better. I was shocked there was zero bathroom line as they have one. As someone with a peanut sized bladder, I will never complain about an available restroom that is clean and has soap and all the papers. And now, a small rant. I am not 'sober' but I don't tend to drink while out and about and I have quite a few sober friends due to recovery or even a few are actually allergic to alcohol (I am allergic to hops and agave, aka tequila). Several of the friends I go to things with are one of these so I don't drink. I am also many times the one driving. Can I just get a Coke or Pepsi... seriously, the options to not drink beer or wine is kombucha, coffee or hot cocoa??? We seriously thought she was kidding. Thanks for having a tap with water? But kombucha? Here, since you don't want booze, how about vinegar....

Just saw "Red Hot Patriot", a one woman play recapturing the life of well know writer and editor, newspaper columnist, and much more, Molly Ivins. Exceptionally well done. Highly recommend seeing this play before it ends 3/24/19. A very small theater so be sure you get your tickets ahead of time. Coming up 4/6/19 is Improve Comedy. Last performance sold out. Get tickets early. Ease of parking available on street or in small parking lot.

The parking lot is a bit sketchy looking and there is only one ADA space so you will want to get there a bit early. Also, get there early for delicious snacks. They even had hard alcohol and mac and cheese which I did not expect at all or we would not have eaten so close to show time. They have great prices on concessions and a pretty great amount of options so support that! Most recently a friend and I went to see Something Wicked which was an 80s rocker interpretation of Macbeth. So much fun! Those costumes! I will say that the sound was a bit off - live band and quite a few of the actors were not seeming experienced with singing in this way so we could not understand their lyrics. They were so present though we were with them but it was odd only being able to hear the lyrics for half the songs. I know setting that many microphones can be tricky and their user can get paranoid if they get feedback squeals. But, for the audience - grab seats closer to the back if you struggle with hearing etc. There really are not bad seats here! The lighting was perfect. I also love that they say take pictures and video but to make sure to tag them. I have noticed at shows genuinely that the audience for these is really great. If people are snapping pictures, they are not being disruptive {which is what I really strive for myself}. I also appreciate that they do offer Arts for All and are so very kind to help get you ADA seating. Many places treat us terrible so feeling welcome is wonderful.

The content of the shows may not be everyone's cup of tea, but we sure have a good time! I have been utilizing this space since 2020. In that time, I've been able to see the potential in it, and the work the lodge's members are doing to help out the community. I even became a member myself as of January, 2024. The space is large and versatile, and the best part, it's very accessible- no stairs, comfortable seating, spacious bathrooms. The building is currently under remodel due to water damage from a roof leak several years ago, but the renovations will make the space better than ever! This is a lovely, affordable event space in the Portland area. Come check us out!

With the planning over months, I never felt rushed or pressured. She thought through the way we organized the room so it fit best as to what I was looking for. She had great solutions to how to make the reception flow and to arrange the room. I sent emails with my many questions and she would answer each one. I never felt like I was being annoying emailing her so much or so often and was always available. I was so impressed with how she organized and set up the wedding and catering and it was the most perfect wedding day. It's a beautiful venue - we used the decks and the inside and it was beautiful. It's a great location on the river (Willamette) in Lake Oswego. It was amazing for guests to be inside and outside on all the decks and to be able to utilize them this June. I will always recommend the foundry for any event especially weddings! The food and the service was impeccable. The dance floor was an easy transition in the night and they were so easy to work with. I highly recommended the Foundry for any wedding or special event! I had the most perfect wedding and the best day of my life! Thank you to The Foundry!
