A packed house every Monday with some great performers. Unfortunately, the open mic hasn't been here for the past ten years. It's long gone. We went on Easter Sunday evening. Very cute place for a date night or friendly glass of wine. The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly! We ordered Burrata and a Cheese Plate with our wine and happily sat and chatted. They do live music several days a week and have a speaker system for it so I doubt there would be a bad spot to hear from. We will have to be back to see some of the live events! Parking is most likely going to be painful on an average day; but that's not unusual for Portland. There is a very small lot right behind the building otherwise you will be parking in a side street and walking. read more

We arrived on a dreary Sunday evening to listen to Annette Lowman. I got an IPA and my date, a glass of sangiovese wine. We found a table easily and waited for the music as others arrived. It was obvious by the greetings that many that evening were friends of Annette and were familiar with her music. By the time she started singing, the tables were full. The person who books the music is astute and very well connected, just check out the calendar and see. This place shares a small parking lot with other venues. You will probably have to find street parking. My party only came in here because we were waiting for our table at Saburo's. This is a wine bar with a few snacks and a few beers on tap. This place specializes in wine. The beer was good, the staff is nice, and I like the outlay of this place. Hello. I love you, corkscrew. I love all the selections of wine and how much thought and dedication goes into the selection and making friends with the growers/bottlers. I flippin' Love that they do they're best to seek out women owned makers, and do a bang up job selecting some of the greatest, and tastier wines I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. I love the snackies; the cheeses, the crack bread (it's toasted and has diiiivine oil drizzled over it. It's addictive, and it's a problem.), their soups are what warms my belly and satiates my snobby taste buds. And, my dudes, they have pie. Yeah, PIE! I frickin love pie. This wine bar is also woman owned and the owner and staff make me feel like we're friends. Like, they get I'm a little weird and they're here for it. Maybe they're just being nice but, heyyyy, that's super noooice of them though. Ya know? It's a cozy spot. The patrons are nice and chill. And, I'm just stoked I get to live in a neighborhood where I can haunt this place when looking for something easy, and delightful. This place almost feels like a hidden gem. Super chill spot, very knowledgeable staff, cozy in the winter and the patio and open garage door is great in the summer. So so so lovely. Finally made it here tonight. I went with a friend. I haven't really been going out bc I've been nervous at how close seating has been at certain places. But fear not...plenty of space here! Lovely virtual menu. Super spotless inside (I used the restroom). One person on staff Killin it...super friendly and helpful. Was a beautiful evening. Went here recently with a couple of friends after having a tasty meal at PDX Sliders. The place is not that big, but has that cozy feel to it. We had to order at the counter and then grab a seat. We sat in the little dark corner that had like an old retro couch and a couple of chairs. We ordered a bottle of malbec which was reasonable priced. The wine was decent, but the company made the experience better. Overall, a cool small place to enjoy a glass or bottle of wine. read more

This is one of those reviews that I'll probably regret later... Why? Because this place is a gem but it's never too busy when I come here, thus I can only imagine it's a bit undiscovered. I appreciate the unstuffy sophistication of this joint (yes, I said joint). It reminds me of living in New York City with the jazz club/wine vibe. Fun layout with a balcony that overlooks the first floor--often times with a local jazz band playing. First floor is "in the action" while the top can be a bit quieter and tucked away--romantic in a way. They are open until 10 or 11--in Sellwood/Moreland! This is pretty much unheard of in this neighborhood unless it's Kays or a bar-bar type. I have also had good service and good wine here, but to be honest, I come here for the ambiance. It feels cozy but inviting and lovely. This all being said... you should check this place out but let's just keep it between us, okay? read more

What an awesome find! I'm actually kind of glad that the wait for Saburo's (next door) is absurd, or else we would have never stumbled upon Corkscrew during our visit to Portland! The place has the most wonderful ambiance and unique wine selections (some beer too). AND they are able to rent it out for private functions... Do you know tempted I was to pull a last-minute change to my wedding planning and tell everyone back home "Sorry guys....we're going to get married in Portland now becuase I must have my reception at this amazing wine bar I just found! Please book your flights ASAP!" Anyway. I can't think about this place too much anymore or else I get a little wistful because I still want to have my reception there. And I can't. So let me just finish up this review and be done with it. The bartender that was assisting us that afternoon was so friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent service. The glass of St. Supery Bordeaux blend I started with was perfect! And then she recommended this French one with a light blue label (I really regret not asking to take a photo of the bottle) that was one of the "off the menu secret pours". Ahhhh. One sip and I could have cared less about eating sushi anymore. I just wanted to stay there and try out more wines. Unfortunately, we had to leave rather abruptly because our table next door was ready. What a cozy, comfortable spot for a glass of wine on a warm spring day. My brother and I stepped inside this inviting Portland meets Europe wine bar while waiting for sushi, and we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. The staff welcomed us with great conversation and solid recommendations. We just so happened to walk in during happy hour and sipped on one of the staffs favorite reds from Italy// great choice. Although I would've appreciated additionally wines on the dryer side.. The place is quaint and romantic. I'm updating my review of Corkscrew to reflect the decrease in the quality of the food. I'm not sure what happened, but everything food-wise has gotten worse since my previous visits. The previously delicious artisan sandwiches are now a single slice of average bread topped with fewer and lower-quality ingredients, and the biggest piece of cheese on my latest plate was mostly parmesan rind, and was largely inedible. The cookies are no longer the chewy, flavorful masterpieces I'd previous had, they're now just average. The music and charm is all still there, and I was very happy to see non-alcoholic French sparkling apple cider available, but it is disappointing not to be able to get the same quality of food that I used to. read more

A gem of a place tucked in between the ZoomCare and Saburo's Sushi Restaurant. I knew it was there but the sign is way, way up high, it's easy to miss. If you are exploring mid-day, you may pass by because they open at 5pm. Well I finally found myself in the neighborhood after 5pm and noticed a New Sandwich Board sign. This will totally help. It's quite a sign, too by the way. The bar is slightly dark, filled with cool, old, fancy light fixtures and furnishings. The owner, Lauren seems to run the place herself and has acquired quite a few regular customers. Pretty unique, one-of-a-kind place in the Sellwood Neighborhood. I enjoyed two glasses of wine - a Tinto Blend and a Malbec. The Malbec was more my speed, a bit beefier. I like that she has mostly imports - it's more fun to experiment with something exotic. Pours a good amount of draft beer and cider, too. I noticed live musical acts book almost every weekend this month. So, while it could be cozy and quiet, I could picture a lively band performing. I witnessed some of the food prep--all carefully made while she balanced pouring wine and chatting up the clientele. All around win-win. LOVED this place! I was in town visiting a friend who is a Sellwood local and we wanted to check out some fun Sellwood stops. The service here was amazing and the wine options were great. I didn't catch the bartenders name, but you could tell she honestly cared that we had a great experience, and we did. The place is very clean and the furniture and stemware are all very nice and appropriate for this bar. There is no cover and the website not only lists the performers, but indicates what style of music they play.
