What an exceptional place! I attended the venue for a wedding and thought it was perfect. The weather was good and the views of the river outstanding. It was not an exceptionally warm day, however the building was cool and comfortable. I would recommend the venue for any type of gathering or celebration.

Lisa and Alicia were excellent to work with for our high school Prom. The Foundry was a great venue, and overall fantastic experience!

We've enjoyed Nicolettea's table on a regular basis this past year…read more The restaurant is bigger than you might expect from the outside with multiple rooms for seating and private rooms for meetings. Overall the staff are welcoming. Attentive to large party orders. The food is good and nice menu of options from pizzas, pastas, salads and if you're in the mood, a good burger. I especially like the lamb lasagna. The bar makes average drinks. Stick with your standards and they do ok or go for a lovely Italian wine. I look forward to continuing to frequent and I can see why it is a local neighborhood favorite.

Each has its own charm. The Marketplace features gelato, fresh pasta, olive oil, sauces, etc. The small but attractive bar and a wood-fired pizza oven are located here. This area can be chaotic when the restaurant is busy. The main seating area, with rustic wood tables and chairs, allows diners to observe the frenetic pace of an Italian kitchen. More tables are located out back - a quieter experience and a treat in fair weather. For larger/private parties, separate private dining rooms are available. My family's menu favorites include the Caprese salad, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Gnocchi, and the Risotto. Nicoletta's has gluten-free pasta options. The staff is consistently knowledgeable and competent. A variety of wines is available by the glass. The bottle selection is heavy on Italian reds, and it also features a few Italian whites and West Coast wines. Live music is featured on weekends and on Tuesdays and Fridays, adding to the festive ambience.

Towards the end of April 2026, I planned and hosted a private event here for my husband's birthday…read moreand unfortunately left very disappointed with the food portion of the experience, especially considering the pricing. To be transparent, there were definitely positives! The staff assisting with setup and during the event were kind and helpful, the beverages and fruit were well received, and the venue itself worked well for our event. It allowed us enough space to spread out and have various areas for different activities. However, the food quality and overall value did not align with what had been discussed beforehand. The croissant sandwiches included on those boards were minimally filled and very underwhelming for the cost, and the desserts served were not what we discussed and agreed upon during planning. Several desserts were also largely untouched by guests (or to be frank, one bite taken and then thrown in the trash). What ultimately disappointed me the most, though, was how my feedback was handled afterward. I reached out privately in hopes of having a constructive conversation and I was initially offered a partial refund. However that offer was later withdrawn after the owner reviewed event footage and determined that "because food had been consumed/taken home," our concerns were not valid. Of course we took food home, we paid for it! In my opinion, guests eating food at a hosted event does not automatically mean the quality met expectations. I fully understand that no event is perfect, and I tried to approach the situation reasonably and directly before posting publicly. Unfortunately, the overall experience and response left me feeling dismissed rather than heard as a paying customer.

McLean House - Dining Room looking toward the Willamette River.

One of…read moremy favorites, as a student of history, were the monthly historical walking tours in different neighborhoods throughout West Linn. This first walk in January started at the McLean House and the series just concluded here as well. It is a beautiful venue that I consider to be West Linn's grand house. Sure there are plenty of modern mansions much more extravagant in scale and decor, but this is a beautifully restored and maintained historic home that is a lovely remembrance of times gone by and my city's roots. The home was given to the city by the McLean family after the construction of the Abernethy bridge drastically altered their river view. It is still a lovely location with a park like setting out back featuring a gazebo built by the local Lions Club. The interior has been restored with an eye to matching the original decor as closely as possible. For example, upstairs in the Groom's Room there is a nautical theme and you will see the wallpaper is very close to the original paper still present in the closet. The Bride's Room is the former master suite and my favorite room in the house is the sitting room with fireplace and red couch just off to the side. A close second is the sun room on the main floor downstairs. The original light fixtures are beautiful and there are enough updates to make this a comfortable entertaining venue. It is frequently the location for weddings, reunions and historic events in our city. The next public event on the calendar is the cookie exchange in December. I applaud the Friends of McLean House for doing such a wonderful job maintaining this historic structure and opening it to the public.
