Rented a moped for five days. Fabulous! More fun than ought to be legal! It was a joy riding this thing, even in the rain. Rus delivered it to me and was very informative about the do's and don'ts and procedures. Be aware that some folks, especially in pickups, do not care what the speed limit is. I would let a few cars/trucks get stuck behind me, then pull off the road and let them go by. Great service, delivery and pickup. Also, when researching the company and information, it plainly states that Princeville is as far North as they will deliver. It's very obvious. Tracy was very friendly and helpful with our rental of two mopeds for five days. They do advertise free pickup and delivery but I was told Waimea was outside their area and an additional $100 would be charged to go the extra 11 miles if I needed drop off/pick up from the Waimea Plantation Cottages where we were staying. My husband and I are in our early 50s so driving the road during traffic was a bit nerve racking from Poipu to Waimea. Be prepared to check your tires often for air loss. You are driving along the edge of the street where all the debris goes. My husband went to the store in the morning and felt unsteady with the turns. He quickly found the front tire to be flat. We called and were told they could not come until evening or next morning. This did result in no use of the moped for one day. At the time we didn't make a big fuss. They did come and exchange the bike but never called/texted to communicate that we were good to start cruising again?? My 83 yr old Mom fell from the bed and after a scary ambulance ride, black eye and stitches to the forehead we were told to keep an eye on her. I notified Kauai mopeds of the situation and that returning the moped would be difficult and pose additional safely concerns. I asked if they could pick up the mopeds. They did and charged me $104. I asked if they would consider waiving the fee under the circumstances (family medical and loss of days use until moped changed out), and much to my surprise I was then charged an additional $104 for the second bike I'm assuming???? I'm a bit confused since drop off and pick up fee was 100 and since I picked up, I would have thought pick up fee would be half the fee? Anyway, no call or text back explaining the additional fee charged??? I'm still waiting for explanation of charging your patron$208 to pick up mopeds 11 miles from original pick up location. The mopeds are very fun and we loved riding them! Tracy was great in communicating prior to our request for pickup fee to be waived. They did answer right away when road side assistance was needed but help was definitely not immediate. I would have loved to give 5 stars stating they were compassionate to our circumstance but that was not the case. If someone could please call or email explaining the additional $104 charge To my card. I am hoping that instead of a charge, you were trying to reverse and refund. Great experience! I rented the DR650 with bags so my wife and I could run around the island. What a great way to see the island! If you are not used to wind on a dirt bike, it can be a lot for most folks, but, me I was fine. My wife loved it! The bike was in great shape, low miles, and functioned flawlessly. The suspension seemed setup for a bigger rider or two up average sized people. The locking luggage showed some Kauai weathering, but, worked just fine. (I liked having locking luggage on a single key). The tires showed very little wear, plenty of tread with a road biased (80/20) tire. The tires were fine on dirt, but, I would not expect much in the mud. Just not the right tire for that. This bike is perfect for most Kauai roads and some easy trails. The website was easy, to use. Delivery was an option, but, I opted to pick at his location on a country road inland of Kapaa due to last minute (night before) And, drop-off was me leaving the bike at our place in Princeville. It was very easy to book the moped online. They sent me follow up emails and called me once I was in town to arrange drop off. It's great that they bring the moped right to you and then give you a lesson on the spot to help you feel comfortable on the bike. After a couple of practice rounds I was ready to go. I've used the moped 2 days in a row and have enjoyed the freedom, views and island air. You get to places a little faster and can dip into side roads to explore. I did find it a little risky riding the moped on the highway, but generally most vehicles are aware and do their best to give you space, while there are the rare few who don't want mopeds on the road. I did my best to stay in the bike lanes and stay to the right, so that worked out. It's a good choice for local trips, but be aware there's is a lot of vehicles traffic on this island. One more thing re: the service; I think it's great that they drop off and pick up the moped from wherever you're staying. read more

A great way to see the island. To get anywhere interesting, you have to be willing to white knuckle it down the highway for a bit. Really enjoyed the shorter trip up to Opeka Falls and beyond on those country roads. Also, the backroad between Poipu and Koloa were a Hawaii fantasy. Finally, drive through the Marriott property--low traffic, fantastic views. Friendly and convenient drop off/pick up service. We rented scooters while staying in Haena. They came out dropped off two nice scooters and took care of everything. Very customer service oriented. We rented from Marlen and Pedro before but when they closed Tracy and her husband are our go to scooter guys. No matter where you are staying they will bring them to you. It's a blast and easy to get in and out of Tunnels for snorkeling. See kauai at a whole new level. Only thing. Wish they had little bigger scooters. This is actually to give Kauai Mopeds a digital high-five on an experience I had that showed their reason towards their cancellation policy. This week, my girlfriend and I apparently secured a moped reservation for one of the rainier weeks of the month. I'm really pleased to report that before I even had to call and ask for forgiveness/cancellation, Tracy preemptively called about 2hrs before my reservation was set, and offered to cancel due to conditions. The take-home here is that their cancellation policy is justified and likely enforced for pure cancellations, but don't let forecasted conditions prevent you from booking with Kauai Mopeds. read more

Awesome experience! What a great way to see the island. Russ and Traceymet us at a local restaurant, gave us a lesson, made sure we were comfortable and gave us some ideas of places to see and eat. We were heading back earlier than expected so I sent them a text and they met us just as planned. The bikes were in very nice shape. My husband is 6'3" and weighs 240 so we couldn't go quite as fast as we would have liked but the mopeds handled just fine-even up the hills! He maxed out at about 25 mph and I easily achieved 30 which was actually good based on the roads we were on and the speed limits., Great, friendly experience. We will do this again next time we visit Kauai. If we have our motorcycle licenses by then we will rent the scooters to better accommodate his height and weight and our preference to go a bit faster. read more

While we had a BLAST renting our mopeds I won't be renting from Kauai mopeds again when we go back to Kauai. Yes it is nice they bring it to where you are and pick it up at the end. Super convenient. They will try to upsell you on paying $5 extra per moped to have them fill it up with gas at the end but it only costs $2 to fill it up yourself. Also, one of the mopeds we received stopped working an hour after we got it. We had to wait for about 30 minutes for him to bring us another one, and when he brought it to us it was only filled to half a tank of gas. The mopeds were fun, and worth the money we spent on them, but the service was not the best. The website also mentions some type of map or pamphlet they provide to give you tips on where to explore with the moped and we didn't receive anything at all. At least we could use our smartphones and look up cool places to ride to. read more

We where riding the island in just minutes after getting everything setup. Touring Kaua'i on a moped or scooter is definitely the way to go. There are tons of small remote roads that escape into the mountains, rivers, beaches and hiking trails. Rus and Tracy are the most pleasant and helpful people on the island! We called a couple of days before for 5 mopeds and two days later, they delieved them to our hotel doorstep. After a quick inspection of the mopeds, a little paperwork signed and giving us helmets to wear, we were on our way. We drove those mopdes about 120 miles - from Poipu to the very northern most end of the island (where the road ends). We stopped to take pictures, look at beautiful scenery, have some shave ice and a little lunch. I was a completely memorable day and one that my 19, 20 and 21 year olds will never forget. We rented a couple of mopeds for a day. The mopeds were delivered right to our door in Hanalei, which was great. The owners gave us good instructions on how to use the machines, and told us about the rules of the road. They also gave us a map that was marked with suggested places to go for a good ride and good scenery. We rode into lots of areas and neighborhoods that were "off the beaten path". We had a blast, and got to see a side of the island that isn't normally available to tourists in a car. Great service! Highly recommend them. read more
