I love CrossFit tourism. I take every opportunity I can to make sure that if I can squeeze a workout in somewhere in a city that has a gym, I'll drop in for a class. My sister and I discovered Kauai CrossFit three years ago when there was a tiny gym right on the beach in Kapa'a, and couldn't be more excited to see it grow into the phenomenal space they have now in Lihue (sadly, Jerome announced in May 2014 that the Kapa'a location is now closed). My family every year stays on the South Side in Poipu, so the drive to Lihue isn't ridiculously far (but mo bettah than going to Kapa'a); about 20 minutes. There's also a CF gym in Poipu, but when my sister and I asked about class times/open gym/hours there, they were INSANELY rude to us so we said, screw it, it's worth driving out to Lihue to hang out with Jerome and the amazing and nice people who were working out there. Jerome's outfitted the gym with a lot of really awesome (and new!) Rogue equipment, with a ton of rowers, barbells, rings, a nice pull up rig with good grips, and other miscellaneous CrossFit toys & "things". My sister and I hit up Open Gym twice, and both times we were met with smiles from the locals working out and Jerome's laid back attitude and willingness to make sure that we had what we needed to work out. They've got clean bathrooms, good parking, enough space to where you can "do your own thing", and most of all, a great attitude when it comes to welcoming drop-ins. Excellent gym, great place to drop in. Jerome understands the balance between being inviting to visitors and taking care of his clients. Being a box owner myself I understand how difficult this balancing act can be but visiting this gym over the course of a week was a pleasure. It's outfitted with everything you could possibly need for your wod, has plenty of space, and offers great hours of operation. Even though I followed my own programming during open gym I had the opportunity to observe class in action, the coaching was attentive and programming thoughtful. My wife and I visited Kauai for Spring Break and we stopped by Kauai CrossFit for the week to offset the food we were eating :). First, if you can...check out both of Kauai CrossFit's locations. They have a location in Kapa'a which is right on the beach with an amazing view. The Lihue location is literally seconds from the airport which is very convenient and its more of a traditional box with REALLY nice/new Rogue equipment everywhere. You can tell Jerome (the owner) put a lot of work and money into his business. My wife and I really enjoyed the coaches that we met including Jerome and Charlotte. Both were friendly, fun and gave us ideas for local fun. Jerome was very willing to answer any questions and very flexible to meet me for one of the open workouts while I was on vacation. Lastly, the prices were super reasonable. I believe for $60 per person you can drop in for a week and it includes workouts, open gym AND a shirt (the shirts are so awesome that we bought two additional). Best experience of being on Kauai, weather sucked but this box was amazing. Coaches and regulars were all welcoming and could not have made me more at ease. I am still learning after 18 months, picked up some new things. Shirts are too cool. Had a beach workout (exhausting) and left sweat everywhere. Scaled for all to feel like they earned it. We wanted to find a way to stay active while on vacation in Kauai. I've been going to CrossFit for about 9 months now and my wife just started a couple weeks ago. Kauai CrossFit really accommodated the fact that she was basically brand new to this style of training. We decided to do the couples 7 day pass with T-shirts and it was worth every penny! We basically went to Kauai CrossFit every day we were on the island except for when we participated in an organized run race. The coaches were absolutely awesome. Jerome, who I believe was the owner really took his time to teach as well as encourage during classes/work outs. Lucas was also great. The work outs were totally challenging. I actually got to learn some progressions for doing muscle ups which I am going to practice for sure when I get back to my box. They also have open gym practically everyday. I worked on my kick up hand stands and finally got them down on this trips p that's a skill I will be taking he with me. This really is the exercise of paradise. Really started off our days right! I loved it so much I bought a pair of their WOD shorts. The gym was fully loaded and never had any issues trying to find equipment or my own space to complete my work out. I'm definitely going to come back here next time I'm back for sure. read more

As a fellow affiliate owner, this place was a breathe of fresh air. In the age where CrossFit gyms are popping up all over the place with mixed levels of coaching, this place stood out. As the market continues to become saturated with "boxes" I believe the ones with superior coaching will stand in the long run. This gym is one of those. My email correspondence with Jerome was fast, professional, accommodating, and friendly. My wife and I were coached by Luke and he separated himself from coaches who simply coach for free memberships or as a hobby. He was knowledgable, commanded the class excellently, all while exuding professionalism (which sadly can be rare in many CrossFit gyms). The facility was excellent. Top notch equipment (Rogue) and amenities. The place has 4 showers which was excellent for us as we had to catch a flight home after. Whether you are visiting on vacation or considering moving to the island, this gym is top notch when it comes to CrossFit gyms. Keep up the great work! read more

Me and my wife decided to do a week drop in here at Kauai Crossfit on our honeymoon and were extremely impressed with the gym, programming, and quality of instruction. This is also the best deal in Kauai for CrossFitters looking for drop ins (plus you get a shirt... can't beat that!). We decided to go here even though it was a 25 minute drive from where we are staying in Poipu and we are glad we did. This an excellent place to get your CrossFit fix. On par with our box at home, maybe even a little bit better instruction. This place is great for all people interested in CrossFit, from the beginner to the more advanced athletes. read more

I am a L2 CF trainer and love to visit boxes on vacation. I recently visited Kauai Crossfit and have to say that the coaching was excellent. Luke was very knowledgeable, motivating and told absolutely absurd yet funny jokes. The locals were very welcoming and awesome. At no time did my wife and I feel like intruders or "drop-ins". I would recommend this box to travelers, however, the downside was the music. I coach my kids, and really wanted to take them in so they could experience different coaching. My wife and I are pretty conservative, so when we showed up and the music contained more "F-bombs" than I used in 4 years of the Marine Corps, and sexually explicit lyrics that frankly seemed to make everyone, besides Luke and a couple of members, uncomfortable, I was immediately thankful I didn't bring my teenagers. I'm sure they've heard stuff like this before, but I certainly am not going to endorse it by willingly exposing my family to it. It was just plain awful. Other than that, it was a great workout with exceptional coaching. read more

I cant say enough about Kauai CrossFit! These are some of the best people that you will ever meet. The entire gym atmosphere is off the hook and the community in this place is like one big family. It feels SOOO good to have a gym to walk into each day where you know you are always going to leave feeling happier and stronger than before you walked in. After multiple trips to Kauai, I have grown so close to the people in this gym and they have made Kauai my NEW HOME! I am so excited for the growth and future of this gym and community! Jerome's coaching and programming is proof in itself. He is considered the "CrossFit OG" on this island and RIGHTFULLY so! He also works with a group of 20+ high school baseball team who seem to come in stronger and stronger each time I see them. It does not matter what level you are, what age you are, or whether or not you "think" you can do CrossFit- the truth is YOU CAN and this gym will show you that! There are all types of age groups and levels and ALL are truly welcomed through the doors. Come to an evening class and watch 16 year old Madison Clean and Jerk 265#, snatch 245# , and knock out 10+ unbroken muscle up. Just as impressive, come watch his father and mother working out right next to him, making nonstop progress and setting a great example for their kid. I could go on and on about the people in the gym that inspire me each and everyday to better myself. Coach Justin is always keeping the energy high and never fails to brighten up your day. He is a true testament of what hard work and dedication can get you- ask him his story and how far he has come and you will see!. Coach Josh is a 4 time So-Cal/ Super Regional athlete and is absolutely the most personable, patient, and caring coach I have come across. Even if you are just visiting, come in and grab a t-shirt. J is always making new shirts thats are freakkkkin AWESOME and a great souvenir to take home with you! I love this place and can't see why anyone would go anywhere else! Excellent gym! I visited for a week while on vacation during November 2014. People were exceptionally friendly, even by Hawaiian standards. I was impressed with the coaching from both Jerome and Luke. Also, the price cannot be beat - $60 gets you unlimited drop-ins for a week plus a t-shirt.
