We just moved to Katy, I work near the medical center and my BF works in Sealy. The move was made to get us a little more central for our drives to work. The price to drive on the EZ Tag lanes are ridiculous during rush hour traffic. I've read on the HCTRA site, how the funds nor land was available to widen the road for the amount of traffic through I-10. The claim, it only takes 2 extra lanes going either way for the HOV and EZ Tag lanes. Not true, take a close look while your sitting in congested traffic trying to get home or to work. There are, in most places along the managed lanes, 2 extra empty lanes going each way. That is 4 more lanes that could be put to use if they dropped just the EZ Tag, and kept the HOV. I take it only when I absolutely have to, otherwise, like most, I can't afford the extra 5 bucks a day just to get home, with the price of gas these days. Way too much wasted space on the freeways so they could price gouge the people who can afford it. How much is too much? Yep, I could take the bus, but then instead of spending hours sitting in traffic, I would be spending them waiting at bus stops, in the early morning hours before daylight. Not much of a choice. read more
