So I've finally had lunch at Katsu Café located in 189 Maginhawa. For a while, I only went there for Wicked Kitchen, Snow Crème, or Sweet Spot. I don't even know why I'd only stay on a just a handful of places in that great building.
PROS: For 189 pesos, I had their chicken katsu set that included unlimited rice, miso soup, a salad (shredded cabbage with Japanese mayo), and some decently-portioned chicken katsu that's around the size of my hand. It's not bad for the price really, and considering that a lot of katsu places are way more expensive; It tastes pretty good. I like their rice, which is legitimately Japanese (because you could eat it with chopsticks easily. That's my standard). I had two servings. #carbface The chicken wasn't too oily. I liked their miso soup as well; I enjoyed the place. It was quite, simple, and peaceful. Plus they have high ceilings!
CONS: The bathroom has a mixed sewage-bleachy smell. It looked clean, though but I felt uncomfortable.
TL;DR: I'd recommend Katsu Café, even for hardcore Japanese food lovers. The place itself is good enough for dates and meeting up with friends. read more
