This place used to be Cooking Mom. The menu stayed the same but I guess the ownership changed. The food here is cheap, delicious and plentiful. This place focuses on Korean bento boxes. Bento box in Korean is dorisak. If you don't know what a bento box is, it's basically a lunch box. Everything was great. Please support this business.

Hidden gold. Popcorn chicken is crisp and peppery. Would go back again. $5.99 which is a bargain price for the amount you get in this current day and age.

A modest cafe, tucked away in the plaza. Hearty, homey meals for decent prices. Love the lunch bowls: bulgogi tastes like a fresher version of the Yoshinoya beef bowl; spicy chicken is flavorful with a soy base. Service is efficient and easy. There's a card minimum ($10 or more).

Every dish we tried delivered on flavor and texture. The bean sprout bibimbap was the standout--packed with fresh vegetables, a great variety of protein, and an addictive crunch from the sprouts that made every bite satisfying. The steamed shrimp dumplings were delicate, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The kimchi fried rice had that ideal balance of spicy, savory, and subtle sweetness with just the right amount of heat. Even my son cleaned his plate with the fried chicken bowl, which almost never happens. Friendly staff, generous portions, and bold flavors--this spot is definitely worth adding to your rotation.

Great, home style Korean food for a great price. Tastes authentic, and the owners are super friendly. It was fairly busy during lunch with a steady stream of customers, but the food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the chicken doshirak, and it's a ton of food for the price. I probably would've been full from just the $4.99 bowl, but I wanted to try all the ban chan. Good flavor, not too salty (which some Korean places do to cater to American tastes). This is authentic Korean food that your mom would make at home. They have some grab and go items such as kimbap and pastries. They also have free hot hazelnut coffee. It's a nice touch! It's located in the back of the office building, so go through the front doors on Wilshire and go all the way down the hallway on the left. It's near the exit to the parking garage. They also cater. I'm definitely going to plan on ordering a bunch of bowls for a future event. What a deal to feed people for $5 a person.

this little hidden gem is SO good!! not only is the staff great, but the food is really good! the whole ambiance is very comforting & great place for lunch!

Asked staff today, they now only have 1 type of kimbap (fishcake with imitation crab) for $6. Sells out by 10 am usually, sometimes by 9am, so go early if you want to save it for lunch. Since I went at noon, I was sadly unable to get it again, so I got my usual.

I don't usually write reviews but this spot has been super convenient for having affordable and healthy food on my lunch breaks. I come here at LEAST 3 times a week and I feel like this place doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Highly recommend as the portions are generous, the prices are affordable, food comes quick, and the ladies are also very sweet... anyways, I recommend the Beef bulgogi bowl and Korean hamburger steak!!! The dumplings as well!

    Spicy Chicken Bulgogi

Tasted like Korean homecooking at an incredible price. I got the spicy Korean chicken bento and the main and the sides all tasted like good home cooking. It came w 4 sides (including kimchi) soup, salad, and rice. I saw that they have bowls for $4.99! In today's economy I dont know if the business will make profit on that. Def will be back for the taste and value!

I ordered the spicy chicken with rice, and it was incredibly flavorful and delicious!! Perfect for a quick lunch- I highly recommend it to everyone!!

    Pork, lettuce, chili, ssamjang

I ordered the spicy pork, which was only $4.99! It was absolutely delicious--so flavorful and satisfying. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend it!

    Beef Bulgogi Lunch Box

Ordered a Beef Bulgogi lunch box. I got it for take out and only noticed when I got back that they did not include the rice or soup that is supposed to be included.

Food was good, atmosphere relaxed, and prices very reasonable. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered for lunch, and left satisfied.

I tried coming 15 minutes before opening on a Sunday during lunch time and that helped a lot! Would recommend coming during the day if you want to avoid waits. Some of our favorites: -Chicken Kalguksu: I get this every time! The broth is amazing, have never had such a rich, flavorful chicken broth before. You can taste all the herbs, seasonings, and time they took to prepare. The broth is a little on the thicker end, but super filling. -Seafood Kalguksu: the broth is so flavorful and it comes filled to the brim with all types of seafood! The spice actually pairs really well with the seafood too. If you want a spicy stew, this is it! Noodles are thick and chewy too. -Bossam: so yummy! I wish I could get it more often but it's a huge portion, so come with a group so you can try it and the noodles! Everything is quality- the bossam slices, the lettuce, the toppings on the wide. Chefs kiss! My only small gripe is the portions are so big that when I come with one other person, we only have the stomach capacity to eat two dishes! Always excited to come back and try more.

As a party of 3, we all ordered the set menu with barley rice, and I could not even begin to tell you how shocked I was when the waitress brought out the food. It was dish after dish after dish, and by the end of it, the entire table was completely filled with food. All the dishes were well flavored and complemented each other nicely. I really enjoyed that you can mix everything together and create your own combination of flavors depending on what you're in the mood for. There's a nice variety of textures and flavors, so the meal never felt repetitive. To get some protein (and fat lol), we also ordered the bossam. The pork belly was cooked perfectly... tender, juicy, and flavorful. It paired really well with the crispy cabbage and pickled vegetables, which helped cut through the richness of the pork. Overall, this was a really satisfying meal. You get a ton of food for the price, the flavors are solid, and the experience was really unique. Definitely a great spot to come with a group so you can enjoy the variety of dishes together.

What an experience!! Hehhe…read more We got the Set. We also ordered the galbi short ribs. It was about $50 for the ribs alone!! At first glance, everything looked amazing. Down the line, I realized that the set was basically a bunch of ban chan. Some were interesting because other Korean restaurants don't serve it. We were advised to use it to create our own bibimbap. The perilla porridge stood out most. I never had perilla porridge. The taste was unique. It had chicken inside. The small cup of pumpkin soup was yummy. The soybean soup (fermented soy bean stew) had a very pungent smell. I wanted to enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I couldn't stand the smell and not comfortable with the taste. Wish they gave an option to choose from different stews. The desserts were good. I also like their plum tea/juice. The galbi was well marinated. Not as tender as I was hoping for, but it was still delicious. With the price, I do feel like the set should include a dish of meats. Especially since the restaurant requires 2 people at $34 each for the set. If you go 3 people, prob more worth it. Overall, it was a fun experience. Service was great.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
