The director is extremely rude and unprofessional. The director's attitude completely changes around different people-- she was only nice to the teachers that she was afraid of. But for everyone else she nitpicks ever little minute detail that goes wrong in a passive aggressive manner. Do not believe or trust anything you are told. You will be thrown under the bus, as the director is only looking out for herself and covering her own butt. She pretends to like you and offer to assist in any way, however when at the eleventh hour, you are left hanging out to dry. Management is very manipulative and also is not afraid to talk about you behind your back to your coworkers. The director is extremely gossipy and speaks negatively of the parents and owner. She would even gossip about the children and went as far as calling one of the kids an "asshole".
The staff will leave rooms to socialize, leaving the other employees in the room over ratio. They hire individuals that are immature and come to work high and then as a consequence drop babies on the ground.
Teachers are given more work than we are given time to do, while we are not compensated for all of the extra expectations. There are a lot of promises made and not followed through with, such as raises and wages. The director will often lie during the interview process about the wage for a new job opening in order to make the position more appealing. However, if there was no written contract made up for the wage that was discussed in the interview then she will go back on her word and claim that she never said that.
Policies don't always seem to apply for particular teachers and staff members (it just depends on how much they suck up to the owner and director). Management also does not handle any complaints or problems you may have. The teachers are often working off the clock at home to complete job demands. They do not care about your well-being and like to take advantage of people's niceness and are unappreciative of everything that you do.
The amount of stress and work that is expected from a teacher at this daycare is such a ridiculous amount for the pay that is offered. It is quite degrading and demeaning in that regard. There was just a lack of respect and appreciation for the work that was done. It was overall just a disrespectful environment. There is a reason that there is such a high turnover rate and why teachers often quit on a regular basis. Over working employees will make them burn out and make them quit faster.
There is a motto that they like to say at this daycare: "fake it until you make it" aka lie to the parents in order to make it "appear" as though we are giving quality childcare when in actuality it is anything but. There is never enough time given to do all that is required (because overtime is not allowed for teachers), teachers and staff members are always working over ratio, the director encourages teachers to lie and guesstimate when they fill out their "gold standards" paper work, and a lot of the policies are purposely ignored by the owner and director. read more
