I come here weekly during the summer and fall months to get all of my produce. The prices are competitive with local chain groceries stores and I love to support this friendly, small family owned business. They are open daily from 9am- 5pm and closed on Tuesdays from Mid July through Halloween. Today I bought some beautiful pumpkins and plan on returning later this week to get some mums for my fall decorations. Honey Bee Farms was there today giving away samples and educating people about local raw honey. A small business supporting another! As someone who has been supporting Irma's for over a decade, I highly recommend you check them out.

There's parking surrounding the building as it shares lot space with the municipal offices of the city. It's quite a large space, great for expos, fairs, etc. I could even see it as a wedding venue; which it likely is. The are food services spaces and bathrooms inside of the building, and a nice outdoor sitting/dining space.

I have been checking out all of the farmers' markets in the SE Michigan area this summer, and while Eastern Market will always be the best, I am thoroughly impressed with the Rochester Farmers' Market! It definitely exceeded my expectations & I'm kicking myself for only now realizing what a gem I have in my own backyard! There are an impressive number of vendors every single time you go. I wasn't expecting nearly this many, and I like that it's almost an equal blend of regular vendors & rotating vendors! The farmers' market is located in just a standard size parking lot, but it still contains enough room for a vast selection of vendors, and probably most importantly several produce vendors. Competition is healthy, especially when it comes to veggies & fruits I believe, because it doesn't allow any one vendor to create a monopoly over it. My pro tip is to always do a lap throughout the entire market first to scope out what vendors are here and selling what produce at what prices before you start buying! Additionally, a big pro tip especially for Rochester Farmers' Market is to get there EARLY! This market closes at 1 pm, which I feel like is uniquely early, and that basically means that things sell out FAST, especially from one-off vendors. If you get there after 11, you can almost guarantee that some of the things you might've wanted to pick up will be sold out or slim pickings. Sometimes it's hard for me to wake up because all I want to do is sleep in at the start of the weekend, but it's worth it for this market! What makes the Rochester Farmers' Market extra special is that they allow dogs & they always have live music! We didn't end up buying anything, but I would love to go back again. The market is open on Saturdays year round, and even in the coldest January weather there were a lot of people there! They have extended hours in the summer months. One of the best parts of visiting the market was the ample free parking in their lots. We also had fun exploring the neighboring shops and restaurants! Not the most convenient for those of us who work during the weekday, but if you work or live in the area, you can go during your lunchbreak. Free tote bags were given out on the opening day of the 2021 season. It is not the best farmers market in Oakland County and there were not as many vendors as I thought there would be, probably because it is not a weekend market. There are a few food trucks and some informational booths on public transportation and city services.

There are a number of bakeries represented, including Cannelle's, which offers fresh banquettes and sweet and savory pastries. Ground Control serves delicious coffee, hot and iced. Try my favorite, the iced vanilla latte. It's to die for. The artisans in the market sell items made out of wood, beads and ceramics. There are lovely wooden bowls and cutting boards, jewelry, pottery and even soaps and perfumes, just to name a few. There is even an artisan who sharpens knives, scissors and other blades. My family has a CSA with the Goetz Farm so we're at the market every week to pick up our box of fresh fruit and vegetables. I can tell you this market is very popular and well attended. It's a great place to grab a cup of coffee and a donut and sit down to enjoy the parade of adults, children, and dogs passing by. During the market season, there are several celebrations. I'm particularly fond of Halloween when kids, adults and dogs come in costume. I've been to a lot of farmers markets in my time, and Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market is still my favorite.
