Visited during the busy fall season on a gorgeous Sunday. A Sunday in the fall is a recipe for a very busy cider mill. We were pleasantly surprised that Rochester Cider Mill was not incredibly busy like others in the area. We were able to actually enjoy our cider mill experience. Plenty of parking out front. The petting farm is to the right and the giant straw pyramid is to the left. When we were there, there was a barbecue food truck. Outside had tons of pumpkins to buy. Inside has that old charm to it with the building. Rows of different apples for purchase. Along with little pumpkins and gourds. Pies and other treats. But donuts and cider are the main event. Interesting how they have different flavored cider, depending on when you visit. Their cider and donuts are very good. Nice pillowy soft doughnut that is a better size portion than other donuts in the area. The cider has a nice flavor to it and not overly sweet. Staff are amazing! Working very hard and very friendly. Picnic tables were spread throughout the property. Some picnic tables were in the shade and others were not. Didn't get attacked by too many angry wasps. The petting zoo is unique since you can enter the enclosure with the animals (just not the chickens or turkey area). But sheep and goats were roaming around with you. The straw pyramid was very fun and a bonus tunnel in the middle for your kiddo to go through. Would definitely come back when wanting a cider and donut type of Sunday. read more

I would rate a 3.5star but rounded up because of the donuts. A small, homey place, I hear there's a petting zoo and hay stack but they are in the back and having no kids we had no reason to go check it out. One of the only places to offer more than just the regular plain cider and cinnamon sugar donuts. They have apple glazed, blueberry and cherry as well. Blueberry Glazed, apple glazed and cinnamon sugar donuts were delicious!! Also one of the lowest price points for a dozen donuts at under 8 dollars for a dozen. Donuts are smaller and look like they are made from older molds which I don't mind. They have a small selection of tomatoes, apples, preserves, popping corn, and pies. I'll be back in the winter months for their specialty ciders. Cider Slush was delicious. read more

Got on a plain and a cinnamon sugar donuts. Also got a small apple cider. Donuts if possible fresh out are the best. Had enough cold donuts today. This is our third cider mill stop today. Total bill was $2.50. It's very reasonably price. I have to consider I got a small cider at another mill for $2.50. The donuts and cider here are cheaper than other competitor locations. The plain doughnut fresh out was the best. Their cider is actually a bit more flavorful than the other siders we've had today. The donut batter is slightly sweet and it's light and fluffy too. The donut being so fresh and was crispy and slightly crunchy. read more

CASH ONLY. Small, non mainstream place. Plenty of parking. There's not much "to do" here if that's what you're looking for. There's a pyramid hay stack and small petting zoo. Came on a weekend early afternoon and there was a small line, but nothing like you'd see at Yates. One of the cheaper priced places. A single donut is $0.75, half dozen for $4.50. Quart of cider is $3.75. 1 small cup is $1. Also have cider slushee for $3.50, which you don't see offered at many places. They only had plain and cinnamon donuts when I went, but I believe they offer other kinds. The plain one was good. I didn't try any of the cider. They also sell honey and the like. read more

Great service, cider, and donuts and plenty of clean picnic tables and restrooms outside. I was really impressed to see someone going around cleaning the tables between uses. Our son enjoyed visiting the animals at the petting zoo and climbing on the hay bales. read more

Rochester cider mill really deserves 3 1/2 starts. The pros: the pear cider is delicious, the apple by bushel selection is varied and affordable, they offer all of the fall decor your porch needs (corn stalls, hey bails, Indian corn, gourds), and there is a play area for the kiddos. The cons: the donuts are awful (super funky taste like the ingredients are old) and they only take cash/check (which doesn't surprise me). The staff is great and they offer ice cream, too. read more

I only go to Rochester Cider Mill before Thanksgiving and before Christmas. Why? This is the only time they sell what they call their "Holiday Cider." It is the most delicious cider I have ever had. Previously, I thought cider was cider. Boy, was I wrong. The taste of the Holiday Cider sold here is what ancient greek literature would call the nectar of the gods. It is well worth checking out if you are a fan of cider. FYI it is more expensive than their regular cider but well worth it. read more

The cider is very very good, the donuts were fresh during a morning visit. Sometimes the whole apples for sale are over-ripe and do not store well. Wish they would be more careful about when to pick the apple varieties. read more

Went here on a pretty nice autumn-y day and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of ridiculously long lines that I've become accustomed to at Yates. I of course ordered an ample amount of both plain and cinnamon sugar donuts (for research purposes). They were tasty and not too greasy (greasy oily donuts negate any sugary goodness present). The cider was lovely and the perfect accompaniment to windy fall weather. The unspoken hero of this place is the mushroom popcorn. I am obsessed with popcorn and it's my go-to midnight snack. I'm talking about the popcorn that comes out of a proper popcorn popper and is drizzled with butter and salt, no microwaves allowed. This stuff is great - the texture is perfect and there are very few unpopped kernels. Throw away your awful Orville Redenbacher and Popsecret microwavable packets and invest in some of this stuff, it's amazing! And get the cider and donuts too. read more

This is the very best apple cider in Michigan. They have cider pressed daily from several apple varieties and they make cider from other fruits as well. This cider is unpasteurized as it should be therefore it is real apple cider. Other local brands i. e. Yates pastorizes cider making it a little bit more than Apple Juice. It's funny I live right down the street from Yates cider mill which is always so crowded so I passed by Rochester cider mill one Saturday years ago and I will never go to another cider mill... Such nice people work there they have great cider and donuts and the BEST pies ever!!!! You have to try the Carmel Apple Walnut yumm... It's very quaint and no crowds.. I love it!! read more

Rochester Cider Mill is ok. They make a good cider and have a good business model, but the prices have increased quite a bit from a few years ago. The price of apples are too expensive for us now. I bought one gallon of cider for $10. Ten dollars for cider! Come on! That is more than PJ's cider! This is a cash only cider mill too. They don't have any heat in the building either. They do have donuts and other vegetables for sale too. They have a giant bail of hay outside for the kids to play on, but that is across the parking lot. It could be arranged for safety reasons a bit better. We only go here if it is a last resort since the prices are too high now. read more

I went to the Rochester Cider Mill yesterday after seeing other reviews for it. There is a small activity for kids there, but not much else. The Mill sells tons of pumpkins out front, from which my girlfriend commented were very pricey. Not surprisingly, the place was pretty busy, but I only waited in line for about 2-3 minutes to purchase. The cider is unpasteurized and appears to be filtered pretty well as I've found no sediment in it, and it carries a light clarity. $7 will get you a gallon of cider (a bit on the pricey side), and just under $5 will get you a dozen of really good cinnamon donuts. There wasn't much else to buy other than popcorn kernels, straw/hay bales, gourds. and honey. I believe there were some pies for sale too, but there were only a few, and I didn't see any prices. The cinnamon donuts were definitely worth the money. Heck, they might even stand a chance to be part of breakfast in the morning. I bet they'll keep over night. In all, the crowd wasn't menacing, the cider and donuts were good, but I really wish the cider was a bit less expensive. I paid about $4.50 for a gallon of pasteurized cider at Meijer last week. Both pasteurized and unpasteurized taste the same to me. If I was making hard cider, though, unpasteurized would be the easier road to take. read more

Me and my younger siblings went to this very popular cider mill. We've heard some ok things about the place. You would think during a time like this with everything going on me and my younger siblings wouldn't have had such an awful experience. My daughter says Rochester Cider Mill has the best donuts of any area cider mill. I would have to agree. This is a great cider mill to visit if you just want really good cider and donuts that you can enjoy outside under an oak tree on a nice Fall day. You can park right in front, walk in and enjoy the deliciousness. I like that it is not a big "commercialized" tourist destination where they charge you for all the extra activities, and you have to fight crowds. There is a time and place for these types of cider mill "adventures", but for the most part places like Westview and Big Red are kind of overrated. Rochester Cider Mill is authentic! There are a few straw bales and some farm "toys" for kids to play with here. They used to have a small petting zoo area, but I have not seen the animals this year. The entire place has a lot of country farm charm. Rochester Cider Mill also has specialty cider (Pear, cherry) later in the season, as well as awesome pies. If you want a treat, try their "cobbler for two". It is so good, it could quickly become a cobbler for one. Carmel apples are good here too. But alas, I must come back to the donuts. Hopefully they will be fresh and hot when you get there. A half dozen will go quick, so you better get a dozen. Oh, and get the cinnamon and sugar for the "authentic" cider mill experience. read more

Great cider mill, kid friendly, good cider and donuts, and the best apple pies around. What I will say is I really wish they didn't still have archaic payment policies. They don't take cards, credit or debit, which stinks because I can't tell you how many times I've driven by and wanted to stop in, to get cider, donuts, pies, etc and didn't have any cash on me... so I just drove by. Also, if you want to place a pie order for the holidays, be prepared to drive there to order it, in person, and then drive there a second time to pick it up. You can't order over the phone because it's prepaid and they don't take cards. I just think this is ridiculous in this day or age, not to do that... even little vendors at craft shows now take cards using a chip off of their cell phones. I know they would have a LOT more business from me if they did. I even pay the card fee at other businesses who have minimum purchase requirements to use a card, not a big deal. read more

Wonderful cider mill located next to the bike trail. The food is always fresh and the service is fast and friendly. They have outdoor seating which is wonderful. Nice tranquil country setting in the heart of Rochester. read more

There was a small line but it moved fast, unlike the times I've been to Yates where you wait for hours. The donuts are to die for!!! Unfortunately I didn't get to try the cider because they only take cash. So be well prepared with cash when you visit. read more

Drove all the way out there today after looking at their website (we have never been there before) states they have plain, cinnamon-sugar, blueberry, apple cinnamon with maple glazed, powdered, Cherry, chocolate frosted, chocolate frosted with scary sprinkles, lemon with sprinkles donuts. Craving those delicious sounding apple donuts we drove the 45 minutes there and there were none of these special donuts! They only had plain, powered sugar (which have waaayyyy toooo much powdered sugar on them) and cinnamon-sugar. That was it! I was soooo disappointed! But I have to say their cider was really good. I thought their prices weren't bad either. Also bought some mushroom popcorn and the kids some candy. Took some pics outside and left. Took us longer to drive there and back than we were there for. read more
