I love shopping at Block's; it's neat, organized and has great selections of fruit, vegetables, bread, dairy, snacks and pantry items.

I'm not a gardener, at all, however, I came with two very experienced gardeners as they make their seasonal trip. Everything is labeled nicely although I do think the signs could be bigger. There's also arrows on the ground to help direct traffic in the greenhouses but they're easily missed. I will say after having been on a Tuesday, an hour after opening, the parking situation could be better, a lot better. It's tight because the place is so popular. We were almost hit trying to park. I go to purchase my plants first. What a marvelous selection and always at a great price. When the farm market opens in July I go for the excellent vegetables and fruits. I like to buy a case of roma tomatoes to make sauce for the year. They also carry the nice large zucchini's that you can fill, top with cheese and bake for a crowd. I always purchase a shopping cart full and then can or freeze the items as the quality and prices can't be beat. read more

There are so many plants that you can spend hours browsing and choosing the right perennials and annuals for your home. Block's also sells vegetables, locally made dairy products, and baked goods. If you're planning to save more dollar bills and fill up your front or back yard with plants and bushes, Block's the perfect greenhouse to get the items you need. They have lots of annuals, perennials, bushes, trees and herbs. There's plastic pots, trellis, liners, fertilizers, mulches and bonfire wood. I remember seeing hydrangeas, hibiscus, lilies, roses and many other plants and flowers the same variety as when we went to eastern market, Bordine's and English Garden but in a much lower price. Just remember to know the prices of the ones you pick because the people who work in the checkout counter might ring you up a different price. Patience is a must and good maneuver in pulling the carts in and out of the crowd. Too bad there is no cafe for you to get drinks after an exhausting walking and lifting the plants. Traffic can be a challenge. So don't bring your fancy vehicles just to be dented. Super busy today a Saturday. We came lunchtime. Open from 9am-6pm daily. read more

Due to the pandemic it has been a few years since I made it to Block's for my flower/veggie needs but I was tired of overpaying for subpar plants so this year I made my way back. I always joke that Block's Day is my second to least favorite day of the year (the first being the day I actually have to plant the darn things). It's hot, its sweaty, it's crowded, and moving those carts around between people (who are just as cluelessly searching for their annuals as I am) is aggravating. But by gosh, it's not Block's fault they're so popular! The prices are right, the selection is great, and the variety is huge. Of course people are going to swarm. You just gotta suck it up and deal. Yes, walking through with a cart is a real pain. I actually think it's best to either go solo or with just one other person because a group can really muck up the works. I also tried a new technique this year wherein I got my veggies and herbs, and a few perennials then paid, loaded it in my car, and went back for my flowers. Yes it took a little longer but it was so much easier maneuvering my cart without everything overflowing on it. Also, the fact they had every cashier open made that real easy, I didn't have to wait in line at all the first time! Over the years they've also expanded their offerings, which was cool. I've saw so many more succulents and a lot more greenery in baskets than I remembered from visits past. You also can't beat their prices on shepherd hooks and planters (I got two huge, durable, plastic planters with drainage holes for a little under $4 each). Even with the rise in prices so many places, it's good to see Blocks still selling perennial starts at .99 and nice hanging baskets for $12-18. Water everything well and you'll have beautiful blooms until the fall! read more

In todays hyper inflated crazy prices this business is an INCREDIBLE value if you are into all things gardening and landscaping. The selection of plants, flowers and tree's at this family run business are well taken care of where everything they sell is green and alive unlike many of the discount retailers in the area where their plants are under watered and half dead. None of that here where you can rest assured you are getting heathy stock that you can confidently replant in your yard and it will survive. I came here originally based on strong recommendations from several friends who are huge fans of this business and come back years after year for their gardening needs. The quality of the stock and prices are main drivers for their loyalty with flats of plants (12 plants) running $8.99 each where you can mix and match the flats with different plants. I have gotten all my gardening needs taken care here, to include my tomatoes, peppers, cukes, squash and herbs for a grand total of $27. Thats what I would have spent for like 5 plants at English garden which is where I use to shop. This value equation along with their quality stock has made a fan of me as well where all my future garden shopping will be here as I now count myself as one of their many loyal customers. Great place to go for all kinds of gardening needs. It's a family owned market. They had a huge selection of fruits, veggies and herbs during the spring planting season. Much healthier plants than the regular stores and great quality. They close the store in the months of mid June - July. Last month was my second visit, they did not have much of garden items. They had very few plants and did not have planters or garden decor. They had a great collection of fresh local produce, canned veggies, jellies, jams and preserves. I've been going to Blocks since I was born-a longggg time ago!! When we wanted fresh vegetables and fruit for our family of 8-we shopped at Blocks for the freshest, farm grown produce! It closes at seasons end, so we kids helped the adults snap beans, and stuff the jars with either tomato, runner beans, or peaches-whatever we bought in bulk to open in the winter to enjoy in the cold weather. The splash of the summer's delightful fruit and veg we worked so diligently to preserve. We'd keep apples, potatoes, cabbage, squash, and onions-in the fruit cellar-as it can make it thru the winter in the basement cellar. It was hard work; but it was fun! They still sell their freshly picked sweet corn-whether it is white, silver queen, or bi-colored sweet-we'd pull out a bag from the freezer that we carefully prepared during the summer. We'd close out the year in October-and bring home our pumpkins from Blocks. They must literally have a million of them in all shapes, colors-large or small in either pie or carving pumpkins! Blocks is really a wonderful trip back in time everytime we go there! Their parking lot is the only thing I can think of that's negative-but that's only from their customers being a bit rude and impatient-not the fault of the market. I've been looking for a new farmers market because the quality at Randazzo near me has gone down. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and will definitely be back. I love it's an open air market so you get a good breeze while shopping. Apparently their sweet corn is an item people wait for each year. When I went it was fill a bag with as much corn as you could for $2.99 and bogo free. The prices for produce are so much better than any grocery store and it's a great feeling to know I'm supporting local farmers. The quality of the produce was also great. Although Block's is a little further from my home it is worth the drive. read more

I've only just discovered Blocks but I'm already in love. I'd gotten word of this place on Facebook, where various friends were asking whether fall items were available at Blocks. Blocks? What the hell is that? Jacob and I made a weekend visit to see what all the hullabaloo was about. We were not prepared for the crowds but had fun finagling our way through them to get our week's produce. The prices are more than fair. Michigan honey crisp apples for $.79 a pound? That's unheard of! Ten pounds of potatoes for $1.99? Okay! Seedless grapes for $.99/pound? I'm down. Hardy mums 3 for $13? That's way better than Meijer! Not only are the prices awesome, but we were pleased with the quality as well. It's not like shopping at Aldi where you pay less but also get "seconds" or "imperfections" on your produce. Everything we bought was fresh and tasty. Blocks is an experience and I'm so glad I finally discovered it. My husband and I have vowed to continue to purchase our produce at Blocks. We'll definitely be back in spring for the flowers we've been hearing so much about. read more

Snow is officially gone, the weather is getting warmer by the day. Summer is fast approaching, and if you own a house with a decent lawn in the backyard, you should come here for your flowers and veggies. Plan out your front lawn, then plan out your back lawn, copy stuff from pinterest then put foot to ass cause it's what green thumb kids do in the summer time. These guys have an uncanny selection on their plants. Salvia to heirloom tomatoes, grafted apple trees to potted lavender plants,, whatever you're looking for, these guys have it. Their prices are pretty good as well. Averaging around $7 a flat, these guys are very affordable. Need things to put your plants to the ground? No problem, they sell everything from hoes to rakes to shovels. They'll even sell you big bags of dirt too. Even if you don't have a lawn, they have tons and tons and tons and tons of pots to out your plants in. Some are nice and decorative as well. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The cashiers are very efficient. Their carry to your car kids are very very helpful and courteous as well. Attention cheapskates! They lift something heavy for you, make sure you tip them well. I have memories of me and my siblings climbing into the tractor pulled wagons filled with corn. The four of us were tasked to fill four 50lb burlap bags of fresh picked corn. My mom had us husk and fill zip lock freezer bags for our winter food supply. The market is updated with plenty of room to shop. The prices are VERY inexpensive. I think cheaper than Randazzo's. It is best to call head to see if what your looking for will be able. I love to get fresh pinto beans still in the pod!!! They are amazing. The prices here are the best.
