When I saw that a new waxing salon was opening on Richmond Row, I decided to make a change. I wanted someone who specialized in waxing and could achieve the look I was going for. Right away I was impressed by their online booking system. You can go on the website and choose a service and then select the time you want. As a child of the internet, I would much rather book online than use a phone and I'm sure anyone can appreciate the discreetness when booking an appointment for something a bit more personal. The salon is fresh and clean with a few products to purchase. The women working at this salon are always very friendly, never fake. On my first visit, I was taken back to the waxing room within a few short minutes. I was given a background on the products they use and how the high quality leaves you less red and is a more comfortable experience. As someone with fair skin, I was happy with that! Their claims were true. While I was still a bit pink in the end, I was not as red as I normally get. In the couple times i have been to Smooth, they have switched to a wax that doesn't require the strips. I felt it was much less pain overall with the same result in the end, beautiful brows. These girls know what they are doing. Never again will I risk getting my brows done at a regular salon. Too many times I would leave with extremely skinny brows or bruised eyes (ouch!). For those who want a bit more grooming and choose the waxing way of life, Smooth has many options for memberships from brows to bikini's. If you purchase the membership it ends up being a bit cheaper in the end. And gentlemen, there is a whole menu of services you can get as well. I left in a lot of pain. To the point where it was questionable if this pain was a normal side affect or common after this procedure. I had burn marks on my back and lower abdomen and my stretch marks around my waist were all burnt. I went to a pharmacist that night and waited it out till the next morning. The next morning I rushed to ER emerge and found out she didn't check the skin sensitivity around my stretch marks considering its a lighter colour compared to the rest of my skin and I know have bruising and scaring all around my lower back and lower abdomen area. When contacting her sending her pictures of my burns and scaring her response was "I didn't think you would have stretch marks around that area for your age" (I'm 19) which is completely normal. She then agreed to give me half of my money back and to complete my laser session with full attention and care. I then get a text later in the week that I'm only getting refunded for my lower abdomen area and she had completely terminated my membership. NOT only do I have to still deal and recover from the burns all over my skin but I don't even get my moneys worth back and my member ship with them is now terminated even when she said she would finish the job. Regardless I would NEVER go back to them considering how delicate the skin is and how cautious you need to be with your skin and they have no idea what they are doing.

The place smells awesome, they are so friendly and knowledgeable and make you feel great the whole time. Danielle was awesome, so friendly and professional and made me feel totally relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire appointment. We had a great, fun conversation the whole time so it wasn't awkward at all and she was really knowledgeable and talked me through the experience since it was my first time. It honestly didn't even really hurt, a quick "beesting" feeling but nothing as bad as what I've heard from friends who went elsewhere for brazillian waxes!! She used different types of wax depending on the area and also finished up with a soothing tea tree lotion which took away the sting completely and is supposed to reduce irritation. As a specialist in Brazillian waxing, I expected a high level of professionalism and cleanliness. My biggest concern was with the fact that the wax was not sanitary. I studied at an esthetics school in Montreal and the first rule of waxing was NEVER double dip your spatula, etc. Unless policy at Skintreet is to use a fresh pot of wax for each client (which I doubt) the esthetician was not following this golden rule. The method was: bare hands, into wax pot, onto skin, wax area, hands back in wax pot. In comparison, I have never been to a SINGLE salon or spa that does this. The estheticians wear gloves or at least ALWAYS use fresh spatulas EACH time they access the wax. I've had several Brazillians since, and all were less painful - which is less of a concern to me than the cleanliness issue. The price ended up being around $70. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was just plain dangerous. It's possible this esthetician is no longer with the salon, but it was enough to make me not consider going back. I *doubt* such a high end salon doesn't follow sanitation policy, and it was likely just a rogue case, but it'd be worth asking about if you make an appointment.

One day Michelle noticed my finger nails were pretty ruined from a bad shellac manicure I previously had. She explained to me the nail services she provided and how it is different from typical nail salons. At this point I just wanted my nails to get back to normal then I would think about trying it again. She then recommended a nail serum for me to use to help speed up the recovery - which eventually saved my nails - so now I was willing to try her shellac manicure. Michelle is so detailed oriented and knowledgeable about nails and the shellac process. It's now been many years and I can gladly say I am 100% satisfied with my nails (and all services for that matter) every time.
