From the start of my call, I received excellent and knowledgeable customer service from this State Farm agency. A startling difference to Allstate. I was transferred to James who assisted me with getting a quote for Auto + Renters insurance coverage. The whole interaction was simple, straight-forward, and was completed during my commute home. I had received multiple quotes from AllState, Costco's American Family program, and Farmers, along with this State Farm quote. This State Farm premium was the cheapest with higher and more comprehensive coverage. James answered my questions with detailed knowledge offering suggestions on coverages based on my driving history and current needs. It was one of the most pleasant and informed conversations I have had with any insurance company. This is the start of my policy with them but I trust that if any claims arise I will be well taken care of.

Since he's left, I made the decision to leave the Marcel Dore agency, I am still with State Farm and a happy State Farm customer, I just chose to request to change agents. Here's why: When they want to sell me something, the agency has called me upwards of five times a day. I had the same conversation with the same sales representative within a 30 minute time. And he completely forgot he spoke to me. That is how high volume this agency is. When I had a question regarding my daughter going off to college and any production in coverage or discount that may be available, I left a message for Stephen my new representative twice and never got a returned call after waiting three weeks. It took an angry voicemail for him to finally return my call and send me an email, never acknowledging that he failed to return my prior to messages. When I finally got Stephen on the phone, he proceeded to "educate" me, explaining that I've never met or heard from Marcel because he's so successful. He never has to work anymore and that's why he hires people to do the work for him. He didn't apologize or acknowledge that he never bothered to return my call, but he explained to me that I'm always welcome to log onto the app or call the 800 number. What is the point of having an agent and one who apparently never works if I have to constantly go to an app or call an 800 number and hold when I have a general question about my policy and I thought the purpose of the agency was to be available and have a local connection. Stephen also explained that they have thousands of customers and that they're incredibly busy when explaining why I could never get someone on the phone and would always have to wait between four hours and three weeks for a call back. I've decided to continue my relationship with State Farm and move to an agency that has three agents in it all who answer the phone during business hours. I'm also switching to an agency with women. I find it incredibly weird that in the nine years I was a client of Marcel Dore's agency, there was never a single woman working there that I saw or interacted. Thank you to Stephen for educating me in the ways Marcel Dore's agency feels about their client relationships. I am really excited to have my business transferred to an agency that values their clients and relationships.

I looked at another company and for the exact same coverage saved over 50%. The new farmers employees were very nice, but instead of just accepting that I left somewhat abruptly (yes $1200 a year savings) - Marc chose to send me a letter to be sure I understood that they were awesome and my schedule and inability to contact them on their time was a problem. Uh, ok? I think it's about the fact that you were so much more expensive. I am a single mother of 3 - one of my children is severely disabled. I would prefer to not worry about having to contact my insurance. I requested to find out why it was so expensive and told them I would look at another policy... I was told that I could save a tiny bit if I reduced my coverage. I got the answer and I chose to change... Last time I heard, that is my right. I am decidedly offended by the response I received. Maybe you need to look at your rates instead of blaming customers for not being in contact with you- especially when you aren't addressing the issue. ******************UPDATE******* Nice response Marc. So much different than the personal response I got from you. There's more but let me quote. 'I guess I'll have to publicly respond now, because that's what the internet marketing handbook says I need to do to make sure all the temper-tantrum-suffering yelpers out there don't get to have the impact that their self-centered world view has them believing they are entitled to." All State's stellar coverage and service levels aside, having had insurance for years through various other companies, I can tell you that David treats you as a customer and not a number. He is always quick to answer any question directly and provides great advice on how to get the best out of your coverage. You are not passed on to an assistant. David will answer emails personally and in fact calls you to discuss things directly via phone. Imagine old school customer first service levels. Unfortunately for me, I'm moving out of state and will be transferred to another All State Agent. Writing this review in the hopes he can get a couple of other clients to replace me.
