She's always been extremely thorough with my complex dental care (yes I like to eat a lot of candy and make her job difficult). She's really nice and always very transparent with what she is doing to keep me in the loop. She always goes above and beyond with my care. Her bedside manner is impeccable. She is the perfect dentist. She's often booked up so if you ever find an opening with her, I'd get established. Her office is also easy to get to right off of 19th ave. I've been going to Dr. de Luna for about a year now, and it has been one of the easiest and most enjoyable relationships I have had with any dentist. That's saying a lot because I've been to a few. Dr. de Luna is my favorite dentist ever. She makes herself so available to her patients -- even calling me on the phone when I was out of town and concerned about a dental issue. She follows my case history diligently and is always sure to explain exactly what she is doing and why -- even regarding routine cleaning procedures. She is so smart, but down to earth. Dr.DeLuna is simply the best! Her staff are also the very professional and are great at what they do. I've been seeing Sue her hygienist for years. I use to he a patient of the great Dr. Chinn DDS. I recently began my doctor/patient relationshiip with Dr. de Luna and I am sure glad I did. She is a top notch professional and has an excellent bed..I mean chair-side manner. What I mean by this is that she actually asks how you are doing, is interested in you as a person, and doesn't rush you through the process. That goes a long way for me. Dr. De Luna is by far the best dentist in San Francisco. I may be slightly bias but my fear around dentists went away the day I met her 10 years ago at University of the Pacific Dental School. She was completing her residency and has always had such great bedside manor. Or in this case, chair-side manor. She put me at such ease seeing that she was knowledgable, confident, friendly and down to earth. I have followed her from her days of residency, to her office on Ocean Ave and will go for my first appointment AT HER NEW OFFICE located at 800 Santiago St. In SF! I have an underlining medical condition and she has always been understanding and listened to all concerns I have around dental work being done or not done based off of my medical condition. - REVIEW FOR RECENT DENTAL IMPLANT Let me begin to say that all brides know the endless amount of times they have to flash their pearlies on their big day. Surely, I needed a great looking set of teeth before my own big day. Without a doubt, I turned to Dr. DeLuna for some advice in regards to getting a dental implant. She was knowledgable and attentive to my needs throughout the whole process, ie. Showing me my progress via charts, explaining each step towards the final day and always asking me if I had any questions. This was my first time getting a dental implant and she really eased my nerves about the whole thing. One factor I'd like to point out is her honesty. Wedding preparations had put me in serious time constraint and getting a dental implant done before the big day was a huge concern for me. I had mentioned to her the option of speeding up the process but in turn, suggested against it because it would affect my tooth's longevity and effectiveness. This showed just how honest, responsible & professional she was and wasn't out there to say anything to please the patients Also, as usual, Dr. DeLuna's concern for my comfort level when on the dentist chair still never fails. read more

At age 74, I have been in the capable hands of many "top drawer" dentists. But never have I been with someone who is equally comfortable and skilled with the pediatric population, the adult population and the geriatric population. Dr. de Luna has cleaned my teeth and she has performed procedures far more complicated. She administers shots seamlessly, there is never any pain during or even after a procedure, she explains exactly what she is doing and for what reason, and her gentle, caring manner is very reassuring. To feel comfortable in a dentist's chair with blood pressure normal is as good as it can possibly get. I highly recommend Dr. de Luna, particularly if you are looking for a family dentist. Dr. D and I figured I've been her patient for about 10 years. Like virtually all the reviewers here, I have absolutely no plans of seeking another dentist. Compassionate, friendly, gentle care, has gone way out of her way more than once to accommodate different needs of mine. Shows interest in me as a person, not just a money-paying patient. Mainly want to mention that my 13-yr-old daughter recently had her first appointment with Katherine -- and she's totally happy we changed from Noe Valley Pediatrics, where my daughter didn't feel all that comfortable with the overall environment (good dentist though). Dr. de Luna is absolutely stellar. I have seen her for a tooth extraction and for repairs to two chipped front teeth. In both cases her attention to detail and gentle demeanor made the process not only painless but easy. She is not only kind but is genuine in herconcern for her patients. There were no resultant issues with the extraction, her technique was flawless. Plus the repairs she performed left my teeth indistingushable from one another, with no evidence of repair. Truly outstanding. My experience with medical people is that they can be attentive but distant. Dr de Luna is more than attentive, she is quite focused but has a warmth to her manner that is bothdisarming and relaxing, the perfect antidote for anyone who is in pain or has hadunfortunate past experiences with dentistry. BEWARE OF THIS DENTIST LISTEN TO MY EXPERIENCE..Doctor de Luna treated me for a tooth that she said needed a crown. Unfortunately she overlooked the infection that needed a root canal. She placed a gold crown over the infected tooth and root. One week later I started experiencing excruciating pain and a huge lump had formed over my right cheek, I WAS IN GREAT PAIN and could not work. I went to a clinic where I was told that the tooth with the crown placed by Doctor de Luna had to be extracted. This is not a question of her chair side manner or her personality. This is a matter of competence and ethics. In addition to losing the tooth and the pain and suffering, there was considerable monetary loss. read more
