Green Valley Farms - Peanut butter cup ice cream in a waffle cone

I was shocked by how good the ice cream was here. I got the peanut butter cup, which was filled with gooey gobs of peanut butter. It tasted fresh, like the peanut butter had been hand-whipped into the luscious vanilla base. The cone was fresh too, a tasty waffle cone that would pair nicely with many of their flavors. Beyond that, the women working the stand were all nice, and the prices were very reasonable. I got corn which was also quite good, and was a standard price so I didn't feel like I needed to buy a bunch just to get a bulk discount. I did also try the green valley farms labeled black cherry soda - that was probably the only 3/4 star experience for me, but would be perfect for someone who likes the flavor of black cherry soda without the carbonation of a brand like Stewart's.

Well, at least that's what happens to me; especially when I find places like Green Valley Farms. on my way to visit High Point State Park in Sussex, NJ I had noticed the farm and made a mental note to stop there on the way back. Now I never make a promise myself that it won't keep... especially when ice cream and baked goods are presented. Today I enjoyed a delicious scoop of both homemade apple crisp and maple walnut in a waffle cone. Autumn has officially begun. Yum The farm is absolutely charming and bustling with families who are there to celebrate and enjoy the season in style. Whether it's to sample their amazing baked goods, vegetables, beef products, and ice cream... Or to enjoy frolicking in the pumpkin fields, or even photographing the gorgeous sunflowers. There's something for everyone to enjoy Green Valley Farms is located in the rolling hills of Sussex County in Northern NJ where they grow and raise their own "All Natural Beef and Pork", as well as vegetables. Now that the kids are older, I heard that they have events for adults at night during fall weekends. I went Saturday night and really enjoyed myself. My wife did also, we made this event our date night and will most likely be back either on a date or with friends. All of the employees were extremely nice and the farm was lit up and decorated beautifully. The choices of food and drinks (alcohol and nonalcoholic) were great. Each food and beverage option was clearly thought out by the owners to make their guests get into the Autumn and Halloween season. There is a gift shop that is filled with country items and different little knickknacks and tasty bites. You enter through the store, so I would recommend buying your stuff before your night begins so they do not run out of stock. There were fires pits and a band that played all night. The band was perfect! They were not loud and just played the right type of music for the atmosphere. I have been to a lot of outside venues like this one and the bands are either too loud or play music that is "just not right". The band Pierson's had was very low key but were excellent musicians and the lead singer had a great voice and their choice of songs were perfect for the atmosphere. The prices for drinks, food and gift shop items are in line with prices at other events of this type in the area. Thank you Pierson's staff and owners for providing such a great event. Have more please!!

These were fantastic opportunities to interact with all of their animals, have a picnic, and basically enjoy the day with my children. So, not surprisingly, my daughter volunteered to help at some of their events (the farm is used to help those with developmental disabilities) and ultimately decided to have her 14th Birthday Party there on 8/2/15. This was, in my daughter's words, the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!! First, they have over 100 animals there ranging from camels to baby porcupines to monkeys. I don't know if it's because of their summer camp or the constant attention but the animals were all super sweet with the children. The kids fed them, picked them up, and I even fed a cracker to a camel with my mouth and got a kiss (highly recommend that). All this activity occurred around a central covered patio where the food and cake was served. They had storage for my party supplies, a fridge for the cake, and even supplied extra plates and extension cords that I had forgotten. But the absolutely best part our party at Country Ark Farm was the family that runs it. The owners themselves basically gave us free rein of the farm and provided two extremely sweet and knowledgeable young women to run the party, take care of our every need, and take us on a tour of the farm. These 2 ladies were incredible. They kept the party moving and anytime there was a lull, such as when some kids were done eating but others were still going at it, they would pull out some activity (face painting, bracelet making, water balloon fight) to keep the kids occupied. This was literally a stress free party. I would like to especially thank Rebecca for making the day such a success. She demonstrated both poise and grace in the face of over 20 kids, a family that came 45 minutes early, and an uninvited german shepherd one guest brought. You're the best!!!
